Census records show her teaching school
right after her husband died, then she went north with her kids. Came back
by 1920 and teaching school again. I lost her after that. This poor lady
has one of the saddest stories ever, had a baby girl that lived about 6
weeks, died 1900. Then her husband dies in 1901.
She and the 3 remaining kids go north. Son dies young
from TB, one daughter was a dressmaker's model in Chicago, then died at age
22, still haven't found out why.
Then the other daughter (Eula – m. Burdine H. Gardner) ends
up in an insane asylum for several years, catches TB and dies, left two
small children.
That daughter's daughter (Rheta)
was absolutely gorgeous and a professional violinist. She married a spoiled
rotten jerk whose mother was an MD, and apparently crazy as a loon. Doc and
the son blew all their money, so they took out big life insurance policies
on the fiddler, then took her down into the basement office and killed her.
She was 23.

CHRISTIANSBURG MAN IS FOUND FATALLY STABBED
Roanoke
Times, The (VA) - Wednesday, July 11, 1990
Sheriff's
deputies are investigating the stabbing death of a 33-year-old man found Monday
night lying in the carport of a Montgomery County home.
Michael Wayne Webb, who lived in the Christiansburg area, was found about
10:45 p.m. by the residents of the home on Yellow Sulphur Springs Road
(Virginia 643), said Chief Deputy Milton Graham of the Montgomery County
Sheriff's Department.
"The occupants heard someone cry for help," Graham said Tuesday.
"They apparently were in bed at the time and when they went out to
look they found Mr. Webb in their carport."
Graham said that by the time the rescue squad arrived, Webb had died. He
had been stabbed in the left side of his chest.
Webb's death was ruled a homicide, Graham said. The body was to be taken to
Roanoke for an autopsy.
Sheriff's investigators initially had been unable to identify Webb. They
worked through the night, but all they were able to learn was his name,
that he was originally from Ohio and that he had been living in the
Montgomery County area for a few years, Graham said.
"The occupants [of the house] didn't know who he was, and we don't
know anything about him yet," he said.
Graham said he could not release information on possible suspects.
WILLIS
- Michael Wayne Webb, age 33, died Monday. He is survived by his father and
stepmother, Clifford and Bonnie Webb, Northfield, Ohio; three brothers,
Russell W. Webb, Willis; Richard D. Webb, Mantua, Ohio; Clifford B. Webb
Jr., Columbus, Ohio; three stepsisters, Tracy Tarranova,
Lori Tarranova, Rebecca Tarranova,
all of Northfield, Ohio; two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will
be held on Saturday at Maberry Funeral Chapel in Floyd with the Rev. Barry Lell officiating. Burial will be in Greasy Creek
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at
