Obit: (src: Find A Grave) William Edward Goad, 82, of Roanoke, passed away on
Friday morning, July 20, 2012. William was born on October 15, 1929, in
Botetourt County, and was the eldest son of Dennie E. and Annie Mae Grubbs
Goad. William, is survived by the love of his life, his
wife of 58 years, Joyce Arthur Goad; daughter, Sandra (Tony); son, Greg
(Patty); nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also
survived by his brothers, David (Joyce), Art (Carol), Wayne, Roger
(Margaret), and Steve (Treedy); and sisters, Mary Wyrick, Doris (Hurley)
Walker, and Joyce Ann (Bill) Goldston; and numerous nieces and nephews. William was an expert carpenter and esteemed
bluegrass musician. He was a founding member of the Fiddle and Banjo Club.
Through the years, he played with Clinton King and the Virginia Mountaineers,
Betty Waldron, and Original Orchard Grass. He taught guitar at Virginia
Western, William also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball. He was a veteran of the
Korean War. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Roanoke Fiddle and Banjo Club, P.O. Box 13314, Roanoke , VA 24032-3314. A Funeral Service will be held at 2p.m. on Monday,
July 23, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Steve Gordon officiating.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive
friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Oakey's North Chapel.

Obit: (src: Find A Grave) David M. Goad, 82, of Troutville, died Friday, June
27, 2014 at Lewis Gale Medical Center following a brief illness. David was born in Botetourt County October 2, 1931
and lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Dennie
Elmer and Annie Mae Grubb Goad. He retired from ITT Night Vision and served in the
US Army during the Korean Conflict. David was a charter member of Daleville
Baptist Church and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He had a
real passion for missions and supported missions all over the world. David
enjoyed gardening, building, and watching baseball. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in
death by his brothers William and Warren Goad, sister Lola Hopcroft, and
brothers-in-law Hurley Walker and Shep Wyrick. He is survived by his wife of
56 years, Joyce Horne Goad; sons David Andrew Goad of Botetourt, Phillip
Daniel (Brittany) Goad of Bedford County; daughters and son-in-law Susan and
Jim Huff of Salem, Karen Blanchard of Asheboro, North Carolina; grandchildren
Landon Blanchard and Payton "Sweet Pea" Goad; brothers and
sisters-in-law Arthur and Carol Goad of Roanoke, Wayne Goad of Norfolk, Roger
and Margaret Goad of Troutville, Steve and Tready Goad of Roanoke; sisters
and brother-in-law Mary Wyrick of Roanoke, Doris Walker of Troutville, Joyce

Walker (Hurley), Roger (Margaret), Steve (Treedy), and Joyce Ann Goldston
(Bill). As a young woman, Lola worked for the telephone
company. In later years she counted miles on her pedometer as a salesperson
with Grand Home Furnishings and the Room Store. Her independent spirit and loving heart will be
missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Tom Frazier; and the
grandchildren who knew her too briefly, Joseph and Anna. Lola passed away in her sleep this week. The family will gather for a private memorial at
the graveyard. In lieu of flowers, please help a neighbor in need. 2010

Find A Grave) Warren Mitchel Goad, 74, of Botetourt, passed away
peaceably Friday evening, June 15, 2012, after a six-year struggle of coping
with injuries from an auto accident and later battling cancer. Warren was
born April 23, 1938, in Roanoke and was the son of the late Dennie E. and
Annie Mae Grubbs Goad. Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bluegrass
music. He worked for 25 years for Eaton, Yale, and Town and was a carpenter.
Warren was a member of Daleville Church of the Brethren and attended Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church. Most of all, Warren loved and enjoyed his family,
who were devoted to his care. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy
Harris Goad; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Buddy Italiano; son Craig
Goad; grandsons Hunter (India), Jacob and Samuel Delp; granddaughters Alexis
and Emily Italiano; great-granddaughter Aislynn Ann-Marie Delp; brothers
William (Joyce), David (Joyce), Art (Carol), Wayne, Roger (Margaret), Steve
(Tready); sisters Mary Wyrick, Doris (Hurley) Walker, Joyce Ann (Bill)
Goldston, and brother-in-law Johnny Harris. The family wishes to thank the staff at Carrington
Place, Dr. Robert Keeley, and 10 West at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital
for Warren's care. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4930 Country Club Road, Troutville with

Rucker and Dolcie
Myers. She was of the Baptist faith and a very loving person.
She worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., as well as being a housewife. She
was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Lula Rucker; loving
friend Ralph Daniel McKnight; a brother; four sisters; four half-brothers;
and two half-sisters. Her immediate survivors are her daughter, Janie
Whitlock, and husband Kenneth of Lewisville; son Michael Goad of Walkertown;
sisters Velma Dobson and husband Norman of East Bend; Marie Hutchins and
husband Jay of Yadkinville; Arline Little and husband Richard of Yadkinville;
Mary Hutchins and husband Walter of Yadkinville; and Barbara Goad and Grady
Hoots of Dobson; half-sister Margie Shelton of East Bend; 30 grandchildren;
and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Grace Baptist Church in
Lewisville, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be
in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Vogler & Sons Reynolds Road
Chapel. 2008

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Ronnie was a member of Zion Hill Baptist church,
retired from the Cement Plant with over 35 years of service, and enjoyed
farming. He loved his family and was an avid reader, a history buff
especially of the Civil War, and a wonderful husband, brother, and
step-father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Nellie Goad
and step-daughter, Sharon Newcomb. He is survived by his wife of 33 years,
Rosalie Hamilton Goad; sister and brother-in-law, Corrine and Lowell Wood of
Fincastle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Kathy Goad of Wirtz; Mike
and Cathy Goad of Fincastle. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Saturday, May
3, 2014 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee
McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Chapel with Rev. Billy G. West officiating. Interment to follow at Godwin

away in College Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Valdese, N.C., on
Monday, February 13, 2012. He was the son of the late Eddie Jackson Goad and
Ada Goad. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by
his loving wife of 56 years, Lillie Loraine Goad. He is survived by his son, Steve Goad and
daughter-in-law, Teresa Goad, of Valdese, N.C.; a daughter, Donna Turner and
son-in-law, Joe Turner; and six grandchildren, Kreg, Aaron, and Marcus Goad,
and Greg, Kim, and Eric Allen. He is also survived by two brothers, Clarence
Goad and Magdalene, and Clyde Goad and Marie; one sister, Lena Nolen; and
many nieces and nephews. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, Floyd,
Va. Glenn served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942
until 1945. There will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd, Va., with the
Rev. John Chambers and the Rev. Jeff Sweeny officiating. Graveside Military
Rites by Floyd VFW Post 7854 and American Legion Post # 127. The family is

Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at his home surrounded by his
loving family. Mr. Clement was born in Surry County, June 18, 1916
to William Orville and Ora Marshall Clement. He proudly served our country in the United States
Navy during WWII; was a retired butcher; and a member of White Plains Friends
Meeting. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and
Pam Clement of Dobson; grandchildren, Kendra Eldridge and husband, Jason,
Mackenzie Whitaker and fianc?, Jimmy Gillespie; and Tyson Clement; a
great-granddaughter, Olivia Whitaker; and a brother and sister-in-law, James
and Opal Clement of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clement was
preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Goad Clement. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
May 19, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery by the Rev. June Haislip with military
honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post
9436. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until the hour of
the service and at other times at Mr. Clement' s home at 732 Old Hwy 601. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to

away on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born March 8, 1931, in Dugspur, Va., she was the daughter of the late Emmett
and Gracie Sutphin Thompson. Mrs. Goad moved to Prince George's county in
1955, she and her late husband, William Colden Goad, owned and operated the
Goad Lumber Mill in Aquasco, Md. Louisa enjoyed yard work, helping others as
a care giver in their homes, blue grass music, flat footing music and being
with her family. Mrs. Goad is survived by her children, Tony Goad, (Terri),
Ricky Goad, (Midgie) and Donna Wilkinson, (Eddie); sister, Bonnie Dickerson;
grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Goad, Amber Guy, Ashley Ednie, Brent Goad,
Sherri Tucker and Michael Wilkinson; and greatgrandchildren, Rylie and Brooke
Guy and Ryan and Blake Tucker. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs.
Goad was preceded in death by her siblings, Clinton Thompson, Kevie Stone,
and Christine Webb. Friends are invited to Louisa's Life Celebration on
Wednesday, February 25, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the
Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall,
Md. 20622, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February
26, 2009. Funeral services in Floyd, Va., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday,
February 28, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Buffalo
