Shelor, 86, passed away on Monday, October12, 2009. Frances loved to garden
and had a green thumb. Plants thrived under her love and care. She took great
joy in nature and viewing God's creations. She enjoyed her many friends who
faithfully visited her over the years. Many thanks to long-time helpers
Corrine Sowers and Debbie Webb, the staff at Skyline Manor Nursing Home and
Oak Haven Assisted Living and Carilion Hospice. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Charles Keller Shelor, and parents, Ruby and Newell Graham. She
is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Dillard and husband
Robert; sister, Jean Peters; and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be
given in her name to Falling Branch United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Pat
Shelor, 674 Old Furnace Road SW, Floyd, VA 24091 or the Floyd County Rescue
Squad, PO BOX 257, Floyd, VA 24091. Funeral services was held Thursday,
October 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Richard Gregory officiating. Interment followed in the Jacksonville Cemetery.

Obit: GRAHAM, Cleo Calvin, ("Buddy"), 80, of Galax,
passed away Wednesday, April 28, 1999 at his home. He was born January 14,
1919 in Kilarney, W.Va. but lived the remainder of his youth in Floyd County,
Va. He has been a resident of Galax, Va. since 1955. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Pearl Yeatts Graham and Andrew Lester Graham of Floyd County;
a sister, Mildred Dallas, and two brothers, Hubert Daniel Graham and James
Edward Graham. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances Hale
Graham of
Galax; a dear daughter, Janet Graham Wells and son-in-law, Robert Michael
Wells of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three precious grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth
Wells, Robert Michael Wells Jr., and Christopher Graham Wells; also surviving
are his brothers, Andrew Lester Graham, Jr. of Pulaski, Alfred Curtis Graham
of Dublin; a sister, Virginia Graham Jones of Radford, many nieces, nephews
and many very dear friends. As a young man he served his country in World War
II from 1944 to 1946 as a member of the 101st and 331st Infantry Regiment in
Germany and Austria. He was later employed by Graves Humphreys Hardware Co.,
Bluefield Supply Co., and Monroe Hardware Co. before retiring in 1983. He was
a member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church of Galax and an active
member of Galax Lions Club for many years. He loved his Lord, his family, his
country and his many friends and was loved dearly in return. The family will
receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home in Galax from 7 to 9 p.m. on
Friday, April 30, 1999. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1,
1999 at the First Baptist Church, Galax with the Rev. David Slayton
officiating. Interment will follow at Felts Memorial Cemetery in Galax.

Published in the Roanoke Times, March 6, 2010 Alfred Curtis Graham, 87, of Dublin, Va., died on
Thursday evening, March 4, 2010, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on
November 13, 1922, in Floyd County, Va., and was the son of the late Pearl
Yates Graham and Andrew Lester Graham. He was a veteran of World War II
having served in the United States Navy, was a graduate of Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University, Class of 1949, and was an avid Hokie
fan for over 60 years. Curtis owned the Western Auto Store in Dublin during
the mid 1960s and early 1970s. Curtis retired from Ruritan National with over
30 years of service, having served as Assistant Executive Secretary, and
Acting Executive Director for a period of time. He was a charter member of
the Ruritan Road Club, and served in all major club offices including the
Dublin and Ruritan Road Clubs, and New River District Governor in 1965. He
was also a 49 year member of the Henry Clay Masonic Lodge #280 A.F. &
A.M. in Dublin; a member of the Kazim Temple in Roanoke; and a member of the
Dublin Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member
of Toastmasters International, where he served in a variety of
positions. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Smith
Graham, of Dublin; a daughter, Sandy Myers and her husband, Keith, of
Roanoke; a son, Robbie Graham and his wife, Jaime, of Dublin; and a sister,
Virginia Jones and her husband, Franklin, of Radford. He is also survived by
two grandsons, Scott Myers and Gregory Myers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday,
March 8, 2010, at the Dublin Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeanette Tagg
officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens where the VFW Post
#1184 will conduct Military Honors and Henry Clay Lodge #280 will conduct
Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 7,
2010, at the church from 4 until 8 p.m. Curtis displayed his love to all, but more
especially to his family, and was always a very optimistic leader in the
community. Curtis never met a stranger and always had a smile and a handshake
