In Remembrance of Peradine Weeks
On the evening of February 20, the death angel visited the home of Mr. Leonard Reed and claimed for it's victim our loving grandmother. She died of that dreadful disease tuberculosis. She was born Dec. 19, 1845* and died Feb. 20, 1920 making her stay on earth 74 years 2 months and one day. She leaves behind six children two sons and four daughters--- Mr. E. F. Weeks, of Boone, Iowa; Mr. F. M. Weeks, Mrs. Stanton Reed, Mrs. Albert Sumner, Mrs. Lemuel Lester and Mrs. Leonard Reed, all of Floyd. Her husband and three children preceeded her to the grave some years ago. She leaves 46 grandchildren and 12 great grand children to morn her sad death. All was done for her that kind friends and doctors could do, but none could stay that icey hand of death. She had been in declining health for many years, but she did suffer dreadful bad for over a week before she died. She belonged to the Brethern Church for many years. It was so sad to see dear grandma laid beneath the sod, but we feel her soul is resting in the Paradise of God.

Departed grandmother, she is gone

We miss her every day
The Vacant chair, couch and room
All teach us she is gone to stay.

By thy suffering now is o'er
No more pain for her to bear
Angel called thy gentle spirit
To a home where all is fair.
Her toil of life is over
Her work on earth is done;
She has gone to meet her loved ones
Who have gone on before.

May we all accept the message,
Cain a happy home on high,
palms of victory, crowns of glory
Never more to say goodby.

Mrs. Parthenia [Weeks] Reed wife of Staunton Reed age 77 died in her home February 1, [1948] in Alum Ridge. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in the home by Elders N. S. Mannon and Everette Reed with burial in the family cemetery.  Survivors are a son Crockett Reed and a daughter Mrs. C. A. [Glenn Della ] Reed; sisters, Mrs. A. E. Summer, Christiansburg; Mrs. L. P. Lester, Boone Iowa; and Mrs. L. S. Reed, Roanoke.

The funeral was held at the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel in Radford with the Reverend Robert Irwin officiating.

Interment followed in Highland Memory Gardens.

Mr. Harley William "Bill" Weeks, 50, of Middleburg, died Saturday, Jan. 4, at his residence after an extended illness. Born Aug. 5 1941, in Carroll County, he was the son of Maisie R. Weeks of Middleburg and the late Harley W. Weeks.

Mr. Weeks was a member of the Hampstead Baptist Church, Carroll County Historical Society, Union Mills Homestead Foundation and Ducks Unlimited. He had been employed as manager of Union Mills branch of Westminster Bank and Trust until his retirement last last year.

Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Catherine Nicole Weeks of Hampstead; one sister, Dorothy W. Hess of Middleburg; and two brothers, Arnold R. Weeks of Union Bridge and Berman W. Weeks of Keymar.

There will be no public visitation. Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Hampstead Baptist Church, with Mr. Weeks' pastor, the Rev. Chris A. Brammer officiating. Private interment services will be held in Pipe Creek Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family requests memorial contributions in Mr. Weeks' name be made to the Memorial Fund of Hampstead Baptist Church, 328 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, Md. 21074. The Union Bridge Funeral home of D.D. Hartzler is in charge of arrangements.
