Jane Mozelle Jane
Mozelle Agnew, 92, of the Red Hill section of Carroll County, passed away on
Saturday May 5, 2012, at her home. She
and her family lived in Coalwood, W. Va. for 40 years until her husband
retired and returned to Carroll County. Mozelle
was preceded in death by her husband Bryant B. Agnew. Also, preceding her in
death were her parents Reed and Louise Dalton; her sisters, Guidie Nester,
Selma Dalton, Cloa Nester and Opal Lane; also, her brothers, Paul and John
Dalton. Mozelle
is survived by her daughter, Wanda Rae Agnew, of the home; her son and
daughter-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Virginia Agnew, of Hillsville. She also
survived by her grandsons, Bill Agnew, Rob Agnew, and Tim Agnew; seven
great-grandchildren 2 great-great -grandchildren; and by her sisters, Mary
Lee Reese, Loufren Hall and Francis Mikkie Webb. The
family of Mozelle would like to give a special Thank You to the caregivers
and, Blue Ridge Home Health Care. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Vaughan -Guynn-
McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, with the Rev. Sanford Hendrick officiating. The

Lee Agnew, 76 of Hillsville, passed away on November 10, 2015. Mrs. Agnew was
born in Dante, Virginia to the late William L. and Nora Beulah Oliver Slemp.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother,
James Slemp and a half sister, Wilma Shell. Survivors
include her husband, Bob Agnew of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill
and Priscilla Agnew of Hillsville, Rob and Elisabeth Agnew of Christiansburg,
and Tim and Regina Agnew of Hillsville; niece and spouse, Christine and Dave
Luckey, nephew, Mike Slemp, and great nephew, Jacob Luckey all of Joliet, IL;
seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady
Chapel at 2:00 PM with Mr. Randy Bledsoe and Greg Carico officiating. Burial
will follow in the C.C. Webb Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Zula Agnew. She
is survived by her husband of 60 years, George Junior Edwards; son, David
Edwards, of Christiansburg; daughter, Tracie Bobletz and husband, Darryl, of
Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; brothers, William Agnew and Curtis Agnew; sisters, Ethel
Harris and Mary Shular; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bettie
enjoyed meeting people and helping them with their canning while serving the
community for many years at the Auburn High School cannery. She loved to
travel and never knew a stranger. Bettie served the Lord while attending
Pilot United Methodist Church for 50 years. Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Horne Funeral Home. The
funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Bill Morris officiating. Interment will follow in St.

McAlexander Agnew, 90, of Bassett, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Memorial
Hospital in Martinsville. She
was born in Floyd on Feb. 4, 1917, to Jessie McAlexander and Mary Griffith
McAlexander. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow
Wilson Agnew; one son, Palmer Agnew; five brothers, Nathan McAlexander,
Thelma McAlexander, Euell McAlexander, Homer McAlexander and Arthur
McAlexander; three sisters, Zula Agnew, Ethel Hall and Alice McAlexander. She
was a member of Fairway Baptist Church in Bassett. Surviving
are six daughters, Mary Ruth Allen of Collinsville, Goldie Stone of Bassett,
Edna Wishnevsky of Martinsville, Clara Cockram of Ridgeway, Evelyn McIntosh
of Lynchburg and Connie Cuevas of Virginia Beach; three sons, Leroy Agnew of
Patrick Springs and Benard Agnew and James Agnew, both of Bassett; 14
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. The
funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the South Chapel of Bassett Funeral
Service with the Rev. George Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Henry
Memorial Park. The
family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral

- Geneva Williams Agnew, 91, the widow of Aubrey Agnew, went to be with the
Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Mrs.
Agnew was born on November 30, 1916 in Floyd to the late Jerome Williams and
the late Nettie Trusler Williams. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jay Kenneth
and Ronnie Agnew, daughter, Nancy Harris, grandson, Daniel Moore, brother,
Hugh Williams, two sisters, Essie Mae White, and Sue Holland. She
was a longtime member of New Haven Baptist Church, and was a kind and loving
person. She
is survived by: daughter, Shirley Moore, Floyd; son, Thomas Agnew,
Troutville; brother and sister-in-law, Harmon and Ada Lee Williams, Floyd;
sisters, Dorothy Wagoner, King, NC; Ruby Jones, Bassett; sister-in-law,
Erselle Williams, Ridgeway; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews. Funeral
service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Gardner Funeral
Home Chapel with the Reverend John Chambers and the Reverend Joseph Falls
officiating. Interment followed at the Williams Cemetery. The
family expresses special thanks and tribute to Oak Haven Lodge and Carilion

Clayton Agnew, 91, of Patrick Springs, died on Saturday September 21, 2013,
at his home. Born
March 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Stella Salmons Agnew and Kent
Agnew. He
was also preceded in death by a sister, Goldie McCormack, and two daughters;
Jackie Agnew and Carol Bowman. He
was a member of Patrick Springs Christian Church and worked as an auto body
mechanic for the Wood Brothers for 16 1/2 years. He was a post commander of
VFW Post 7800 and American Legion Post 105. He was very active with the Boy
Scouts of America and worked with CCC camp in Floyd and loved camping. Surviving
are his wife, Lillie Agnew of Patrick Springs; five daughters, Kathleen
Ingram and Joan Agnew, both of Floyd, Frances and husband Albert Baliles of
Ridgeway, and Tootsie Soyars and Cheryl Handy, both of Patrick Springs; seven
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The
funeral service was held Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart
with the Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial
Gardens with military rites by Patrick County Veterans' Memorial Honor Guard. Memorial
contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 22099 Jeb Stuart

addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ophus
Agnew; one son, Hugh Elvin McGrady; two daughters: Carol Ann Bowman, Kathleen
Ingham; four sisters: Eunice Clemmons, Goldie Woodall, Irene Gardan, Dollie
Susan Helms; nine brothers: Julian Helms, J.D. Helms, Clyde Helms, Elmer
Helms, Hobart Helms, Guy Helms, Willard Helms and Delmar Helms, Joe Jones. She
was a member Patrick Springs Christian Church and worked as a stay-at-home
mom and babysitting. She was also former president of Ladies Auxillary VFW Post
7800 in Patrick Springs, VA. Surviving
are three daughters: Frances Baliles of Ridgeway, VA, Cheryl Handy of Patrick
Springs, VA, Tootsie Soyars of Patrick Springs, VA; seven grandchildren;
sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three
special care givers: Sandra Hughes, Rhonda Craig and Donna Dalton. The
funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Norris
Funeral Services in Stuart with Pastor Walter Thorton and Minister Gray Sands
officiating. Burial will be at Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart, VA. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 am to
11:00 am at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home. Memorials

Marie Agnew McCormack, 83, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on
Tuesday, June 28, 2011. She was born in Floyd, a daughter of the late
Benjamin and Stella Salmon Agnew and had been a Roanoke area resident for
most of her life. She was employed by Garden City School Food Service prior
to retiring and loved all animals. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, David "Bud" McCormack. She is
survived by her loving daughter, Carrie Shaver and her husband, Tommy (Tuck)
Shaver; two granddaughters, Rebecca Grenoble and her husband, Steve, Jenna
Massie and her husband, Coby; a brother, Ophus Agnew and his wife, Lily, as
well as many extended family members and friends. Burial will be at 1 p.m.
Friday, July 1, 2011, at Sherwood Memorial Park with memorial services to
follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Chaplain
Marvin Barbre and Pastor Terry Mabry will officiate. The family will receive
friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 30, 2011 at the funeral
home. The family deeply appreciates care given by Betty Montgomery, Dr.
Murchinson, Dr. Rosenoff, Dr. Inge, as well as Jane and Marvin from Good
Samaritan Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Roanoke
