He was a member of the Brethren Church and he read his Bible as long as he was able to read. He would quote the scriptures and say he wasn't alone. The Lord was there with him. He said the Bible says, “He'll never leave you, nor never forsake you.'' He was preceded in death by two daughters, Beulah Duncan and May Ratcliffe; and a son, Homer Duncan. Surviving are one son, Roscoe H. Duncan Jr., Troutville; one daughter, Thelma Duncan, Upperco, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lovelle Akers, Riner. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery.
