John Bishop Simmons was born Dec. 30, 1856, in Floyd County, Va., where he lived his early life. In 1887 he with his companion, Rebecca E., moved to Washington where they homesteaded at Timber Valley, which later was name Liberty Bond. His wife preceded him in 1902. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Mabel LeGal, who also preceded him some fifteen years ago, and Versa Parmeter of Coulee City, Wash., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He passed away April 24, 1941, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 24 days. 

Bro. Simmons was a minister in the Church of the Brethren and labored in that capacity in the vicinity of Liberty Bond and Camas Prairie until recent years his health would not permit his further services. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and was evidenced by the large gathering at this funeral, which was held in the Lakeside church, where he had preached may times. Burial was made in the beautiful little cemetery near Liberty Bond, Wash.

Funeral services were held in Glenwood Sunday at the Lakeside Dunkard church for John Bishop Simmons, 85, retired Dunkard pastor of Lakeside and non-existent Liberty Bond Dunkard churches.

Born December 30, 1856, in Floyd county, Virginia. Mr. Simmons in 1887 located on a homestead in Klickitat county at Timber Valley, an interior community which during the world war changed its name to Liberty Bond. Preceded in death by his wife Rebecca E. Simmons, in 1902, the family had two children, Mrs. Mable LeeGal and Versa Simmons, a second marriage to Mrs. Mary Dean, Glenwood, resulted in Divorce.

Rebecca Ellen, nee Spangler, died at her home near Stiverson Church, Wash., Aug. 9, 1902, aged 38 years, 8 months and 17days. She was born in Floyd County, Virginia, united with the Brethren in early life and lived a consistent member. She leaves a husband two children and father in this part and one brother and sister in the East. Services by M. F. Wood in the church. Interment in the Stiverson cemetery

  A sad accident occurred the later part of this week at Liberty-bond when Mr. LeGall, in backing his auto out of the garage, knocked down his daughter and ran over her, crushing her skull. The little girl died on the way to the hospital.
