Mr. Raleigh Clifton Poff, 69, of Bucher John Rd., near Union Bridge, died at his home Monday, April 8. He was born May 18, 1904 in Floyd County, Va., a son of the late Albert and Nancy Hylton Poff. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Melissa Reed Poff; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Nafzinger, Crumpton, and Mrs. Thelma Jenkins, Frederick; four brothers, John Poff and Daniel Poff, of Floyd, Va., Arnold Poff, Christiansburg, Va., and Roscoe Poff, Falls Church, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde Duncan, Mrs. Letha Duncan, and Mrs. Dorothy Akers, all of Christiansburg, Va., and Mrs. Lillie Reed, of Floyd, Va., six grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren. He was formerly employed with the Western Maryland Railway on section for 21 years. He retired in 1963.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at the Union Bridge funeral home of D.D. Hartzler. The Rev. Harold L. Bowser, his pastor will officiate.

Interment will be made in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near New Windsor.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday evening.

Lloyd S. Poff, 69, of Salem, beloved husband, father and papa went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Roanoke Memorial Rehab Center.

He was formerly of Floyd, Va., and was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene. He held various positions in the Church over the years with a special emphasis on World Missions. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 7854 of Floyd.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 47 years, Susie Sweeney Poff, sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Lisa Poff, Danville, Doug and Glynna Poff, Oklahoma City, Okla., daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Tod Southworth, Nashville, Tenn.; parents John and Ella Poff, Salem (formerly of Floyd); grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Poff, Danville, Laura and Bryan Poff, Oklahoma City, Derek and Summer Southworth, Nashville.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Easter Offering for World Missions at the Salem Church of the Nazarene, 3631 Evelyn Drive, Salem, Va. 24153, or Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 2450 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, Va. 24540. Evelyn Poff Conner, of Roanoke, born on April 3, 1919, was received by our Lord and Savior on January 25, 2012.

She was born in Floyd County, the eldest daughter to the late James Lafayette and Ocie Wilson Poff. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband of seven years and the father of her children, Garwood S. Conner; her second husband of 49 years, Ernest N. Conner; son, Clifton W. Conner; brothers, Edmund Poff and wife, Mabel, and Murrie Poff; and brothers-in-law, Namon Vest, Shike King, and Diamond Shortt.

She is survived by her son, Charles G. Conner and wife, Wilma, of Troutville; daughter, Margaret C. Jones and husband, Ronald, of Roanoke; grandson, Patrick C. Conner; granddaughters, Rhonda J. Graham and husband, Brad, Janet I. Conner, Tina J. Worley and husband, Patrick, and Teresa Jones; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Blake and Jacob Graham, Megan Worley, and Cathryn Conner. She also has one great-great-grandson, Eric Holden Mabe.

Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Beulah Vest, Colean King, Jaqueline Blackwell and husband, Harvey, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, and Shirley and Emma Poff, sisters-in-law, Joyce Poff and Newassa Conner, brother-in-law, E.G. Conner and wife, Shirley, many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Melvin Poff.

Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012. The Rev. John Boyles and the Rev. Alan Mason will officiate. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery, Copper Hill, Floyd County. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday January 28, 2012. The family would like to give special thanks to Peter and Carla Lewis, friends and former neighbors. They never forgot her birthday or any other special occasion. Colean Poff King, 89 of Bent Mountain, Va. passed away early Monday morning, November 19, 2012.

She was a homemaker and avid quilter, making hundreds of beautiful quilts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward (Shike) King, her father and mother, J. L. (Fate) and Ocie Poff and two brothers, Edmund Poff and Murray Poff.

She is survived by her son, David King and wife, Kathleen, three daughters, Mary Ellen Hale and husband, Dewey, Judy Ann Horsley and husband, Roger, Sandra Wilson and husband, Don, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, her brothers, Shirley and Emma Poff, Wilson and Audrey Poff, her sisters, Beulah Vest, Jacqueline and Harvey Blackwell, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Sylvia Shortt, a sister-in-law, Joyce Poff, numerous nieces and nephews.

Jaqueline Poff Blackwell began her earthly journey on October 7, 1926 as a middle child of James Lafayette and Ocie Adeline Wilson Poff. Her love for her family and friends was endless and beyond belief. She was the center of her family's lives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of over 64 years, Harvey Blackwell, as well as brothers and sisters, Edmund Poff, Murrie Poff, Evelyn Conner, Beulah Vest and Colean King. Jaqueline went home to join them on February 28, 2016.

She is survived by daughters, Carolyn (and Doug) Snead, Annette Blackwell and Yvonne Blackwell; grandson, Dan DeMartin (and Edina); and three great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by sisters and brothers, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, Shirley and Emma Poff; sister-in-law, Joyce Poff; and many nieces; and nephews.

While she was momma to three, she touched the lives of hundreds of children having taught in the Floyd County School system for over 40 years. She began her teaching career in 1944 at only 17 years old in the one-room school at Mount Pleasant. She retired in 1985 as Librarian at Check Elementary. In addition to her family and students, she loved her garden, flowers and birds.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. Online Condolences may be made at www.gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com.
