- Probably no relation. Looking for my mother in laws
relations. Her father was born in Au Clair Wisconsin
Novemvber 12,1901 as possibly Roy Melviin Haugen. Story
is he actually belonged to someone else and Ole and
Annie Haugen moved to Washington state with him. They
were from Norway themselves. He was the only child they
"had". She has no idea who his real parents were, if
possibly it was really a Haugen young girl who allowed
them to take him away. Anyone tell a tale of something
like this?? His dauhter's name is Elaine Pearl Haugin,
now Hamilton

- Ojata is a very old town that is in North Dakota. It
is located near Thompson and Grand Forks. Ojata is in
the Oakville township. Today, Ojata is considered a
ghost town because no one has lived there since the
early and middle 1900’s. The town was founded in 1880.
At first the town was named Stickney. People protested
against that name so a man named Charles Hutchinson
changed the name to Ojata. Ojata is pronounced Ozate in
the Sioux language. Ojata was a very small town. The
population was roughly around 52 people, which is
nothing compared to other towns in North Dakota. Ojata
contains a grainery which is called Mnel Co. The
grainery was owned by a man named J. Morris. Ojata also
had a railroad called The Great Northern Railroad which
was later called the Empire Builder and Amtrack. Ojata
contained an express office, used to ship packages. And
that is what I know about the mysterious ghost town
known as Ojata.

- I am having difficulty locating information on my
great-grandparents Thomas Cannon b 19 Apr 1852
Pittsfield MA and Mary Devereaux b. 1861 Canada. The
1880 Census lists a Thomas and Mary Cannen with a son
Thomas J 5mos and a Thomas and Mary Cannan also with a
son Thomas J 5 mos. Their ages and places of birth all
correspond but of course they can't both be the family I
am researching. Another son James P was b. 11 Jun 1882
ND. By 1886 this family was located in St Paul MN. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
