GOAR, NICHOLLS, NICHOLS posted by Joni Leffler on Sunday, March 4, 2001

Seeking info. regarding Clifford NICHOLS/NICHOLLS, born about 1892 to William Henry NICHOLS/NICHOLLS and Lillie E. GOAR. His parents eventually divorced while he was still very young. His mother remarried to a man named RICKETTS and moved back to Indiana. Clifford was married and had at least one daughter. He may have worked as a custodian or in a position with the railroad in Grand Forks, Grand Forks Co., MN. (Possibly from the 1920s - 1950s?) He often visited relatives in Argyle and Stephen, Marshall Co., MN. Would anyone have access to a city directory for Grand Forks or any census records such as 1920? Any info. is appreciated! THANKS!

STEWART posted by Diane Maxwell on Wednesday, April 11, 2001

My grandparents were married in Bachelor Grove, Grand Forks County, on January 12, 1886. My grandfather, Isaac Stewart, was from Benson County. My grandmother, Antoinette Staples was a teacher in Grand Forks prior to her marriage. This information has been passed down to me by my mother, however, I have not been able to locate where Bachelor Grove is in Grand Fork County. If you have any information on this area I would appreciate hearing from you..

Bachelors Grove is a new one to me. I would suggest contacting Sandy Slater at slater@plains.nodak.edu (University of ND in GF). She is always very helpful and could probably find that information. Another possible resource would be the Myra Museum in GF. Do you know the name of the church? If either of them died in ND, you might be able to order death certificates online..

Thanks for suggesting I e-mail Sandy. In talking to my mother, she has a copy of the wedding from a N.D. newspaper which said they were married in Bachelor Grove but the name of the newspaper is not on the copy. Mom is very adement that it is in Grand Fork County somewhere. My grandparents moved to Idaho in the late '30's..

HARVEY, MCGUIRE posted by Charles McGuire on Monday, April 16, 2001

I have been seeking information on my grandfather John McGuire who farmed at Manvel North Dakota from 1890 until 1905. Also his daughter Mary Ann Harvey who married William M. Harvey I believe in Grand Forks North Dakota. My grandfather came west to homestead in 1889 at Manvel. I have been unable to find any information on this McGuire family. I thought perhaps they would be on the 1900 Grand Forks County census John McGuire b. 1828 Ireland Bridget McGuire b. 1840 Ireland Michael Henry McGuire b. 1858 Mitchell Ontario Canada Charles Thomas McGuire b. 1862 Mitchell Ontario Mary McGuire { Wife of Charles} William M.
