LARSDTR, OFFERDAHL, SANDE posted by Arnold Offerdahl on Monday, November 10, 1997

MY OBJECTIVE is to ascertain the burial site of two of my lineal ancestors, Nils Jakobsson OFFERDAHL (b. 1794) and his wife Velgjerd LARSDTR f. Bjøråker (b. 1796). They, together with their youngest son Andreas (b. 1845) emigrated to USA from Årdal, Norway in March, 1862. I have no further USA information about these two people. Their son Andreas Nilsson OFFERDAHL was married in Winneshiek County, Iowa 13 Oct 1870 to Berthea Eriksdtr SANDE. Their first daughter Emma Nilsine OFFERDAHL was born 15 Jan 1871 in Winneshiek County. I have uncovered no further records relating to them in Winneshiek County. Then I have this information, which came from the Northwood Centennial Book of 1984: "A. N. OFFERDAHL homesteaded Sec. 13 and 14 of Washington Township sometime after 1878. Mr. and Mrs. A. N. OFFERDAHL were charter members of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in 1890. Mrs. A. N. OFFERDAHL was the first treasurer of the Ladies Aid for the church which was organized on Nov 13, 1893." I am trying to establish two things: 1. Is the A. N. OFFERDAHL in North Dakota the same person as Andreas Nilsson OFFERDAHL in Winnesheik County, Iowa. 2. If he is, then he is the father of my lineal ancestors, Nils Jakobsson OFFERDAHL and wife Velgjerd LARSDTR. In that case, I would like to check the cemetery records of the Washington Prairie Cemetery, where Mr. & Mrs. A. N. OFFERDAHL are buried, to see if my lineal ancestors are buried there also. Arnold is looking for Query, Obituary for the following persons: Nils Jakobsson OFFERDAHL Velgjerd Larsdtr OFFERDAHL Andreas Nilsson OFFERDAHL A. N. OFFERDAHL
