BAINES, BAINS, BANES, LUNO, SHANE posted by Susan Miller on Thursday, September 19, 1996

1990 North Dakota, Grand Forks County, Ferry Township Census shows John A. SHANE, b Oct 1862 in Canada with sons, Alfred A. SHANE, b Feb 1891 in ND, and William E. SHANE, b. Mar 1893? in ND. Also listed is Clara M. SHANE, b Oct 1887. Clara was John SHANE's 2nd wife, and was not the mother to Alfred and William. It is supposed that the 1st wife died either in childbirth or subsequent to the birth of William. Seeking the name of the 1st wife of John A. SHANE. The 1900 Census also shows that John A. SHANE owned his farm, and that it was morgaged. John and Clara (LUNO) SHANE moved from ND approx. 1904, as did John's son, Alfred. But, William remained in ND, presumably Grand Forks County, with relatives. Those relatives may have been named BAINS or BAINES or BANES. They were probably of Norwegian decent. William may have also gone by the name of Ernest SHANE. What became of William E. SHANE? Susan is looking for Deed, Query, Census, Will, Marriage, Obituary, Birth, or Baptism information in Grand Forks County, ND for the following persons: John SHANE Alfred SHANE William SHANE Clara SHANE Clara LUNO Ernest SHANE BANES BAINES BANES

I would like more information on the town of Inkster and also any land records that may be available in the ACKERKNECHT name. Children of Karl and Henrietta were: Charles H. born March 25, 1884 William Edward born February 18, 1887 Jennie born December 22, 1888 Anna born October 14, 1891 or 92 George Joseph born June 17, 1896 Emma date unknown and died at age of 1 year. AASE, JOHNSON posted by Linda Dicken on Sunday, January 26, 1997

Sometime before the 1880 census, my great-grandfather, Ellend Anderson AASE came from Worth County IA to Washington Twp to homestead. He was a single man and a farmer. My great- grandmother, Emma Bertina JOHNSON, (and her family?) also came she was 18 years old in 1880. They were married in Mayville, Traill Co on 21 November 1880. They had several children there. My grandmother, Caroline Bertina AASE was born in Hatton, Traill Co. on 29 Sep 1884. In 1900 the family moved to Roseau Co, MN. My grandmother worked in both Hatton and Northwood as a clerk when she was older, so I suspect there were relatives still in the area. I have never found a record for my 2-g grandparents, Olai and "Susan" JOHNSON, both born in Norway, were Emma's parents. Ellend was an orphan although he had several relatives in Worth County, IA. I found Emma's parents names on her death certificate. Her birthplace was listed IL in all the census and in 1910, her brother "Tinnus" JOHNSON, b.1864 was living with the family. Ellend was the enumerator for that census. As it is difficult to find copies of the North Dakota records, any information on the family would be appreciated. I'm especially interested in the deed for Ellend's homestead and my grandmother's birth/baptism record. I believe the family attended St. John's Lutheran Church. I would appreciate any information I could get on my their family. I do not know if Emma's parents moved to the area at the same time as she did. Linda is also looking for the following information: Deed, Census, Marriage, Birth, Baptism for the following individuals: Emma B. JOHNSON Ellend Anderson AASE Olai JOHNSON Susan JOHNSON Caroline B. AASE "Tinnus" JOHNSON

DEVINE, GORMAN posted by Blane Ryan on Tuesday, February 18, 1997

Peter B GORMAN died in Grand Forks 3 Aug 1926 and his wife, Katherine DEVINE, died 16 Jul 1926. Their daughter, Mary Estella, apparently was still living with them when they died. The family moved to East Grand Forks, Minnesota in 1892 and seven years later moved to Grand Forks. I would like to obtain copies of local obituaries & the cemetery information. I would also like to obtain details on where they lived as I do not know if they lived in the city or the county. If they owned land, I would like to obtain land records. I would also like to obtain copies of their estate files. Did Mary Estella remain in Grand Forks? Were any children born to them in Grand Forks? Blane is looking for Deed, Query, Census, Will, Obituary, Birth on the following persons: Peter GORMAN Katherine DEVINE Mary Estella GORMAN
