ABBOTT, POLLARD posted by Mary Pollard on Thursday, February 3, 2000

Looking for information on my husband's family. Father was George Henry Pollard, supposed to be born in Mentor, MN, 1891, but we can find no record there. Recently found Marriage of Fred Guy POLLARD to Martha Elizabeth ABBOTT, 3 Jan 1890, in Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, ND. Siblings of George include Elva (who married and moved to Washington State), Effie, Myrtle (who died about age 19), Basil, and Lloyd. Does anyone have these names in your records? My mother-in-law refused to talk about George's family, so we have no information, and would appreciate any clues.

HAUGEN posted by Beth Christianson on Sunday, February 6, 2000

Have you seen the reference list of the Middle Grove Cemetery in Blooming Township in the book "Cemeteries of Grand Forks County North Dakota" compiled by the Red River Genealogy Society? Lots of Haugens listed there. Maybe in other cemeteries, too. Noted it as I have HAUGENs in my family too, one of whom, who actually went by name of PETERSON instead of HAUGEN (don't know why yet) is buried there. Maybe our HAUGENs are related? Mine settled in Steele County and possibly Nicollet County, MN. Family came from Hallingdal, Norway ca 1875..

FOUBERT, HAUGEN, JEFFREY, MONDA, RAYMOND posted by Robert Jeffrey Haugen on Monday, February 7, 2000

I have an Ole HAUGEN, who said there were too many HAUGENs and so changed his name to PETERSON. He was born in Hovet, Hallingdal, Norway. He was 17 (1869) when he came to this country. About 1875, he married a Norwegian girl, Margit Eivinsdatter (Evenson) BERG of Hemsedal, Norway. They had 10 children. Some of the surnames connected to this family are LODMELL, BONLIE, JOHNSON, NELSON, MURI AND AASERUDE. Does this connect to anything you have? Please visit my website and check out the HAUGEN and SVUEM pages. Please sign my guestbook, so I know you have been by.

The Red River Genealogy did publish a book on the cemeteries for Grand Forks Co. There is a copy at the Grand Forks Public Library. I have some cousins that are Haugens from Manvel ND that northeast of Middle Grove Church. Also my great grandfather Ole Sanden and his cousin Ellef Burtness were the first Hallings in Blooming Twp. 1877. What were the names of your Halling ancestors that immigrated. We might have some info on them in our records. John Wasylow Genealogist for the Hallinglag of America
