CHRISTIANSBURG-Ola Sowers Pugh, formerly of Floyd, died Saturday, October 7, 2000 at New River Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband; Ottis Pugh, Sr. and her son; Teddy Pugh. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Randall and Barbara Pugh, Hernando, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Henry Nixon, Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Ottis and Loretta Pugh, Christiansburg; sister, Elizabeth Barry, Columbus, OH; one special sister-in-law; Eula Pugh of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Silas Ray Sowers 81, of Hillsville, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Sowers; son Donnie Ring; parents Jedda B. & Edith Alderman Sowers. He is survived by daughter & son-in-law Tina & Steve Young of Hillsville; two sons & daughter-in-law Tim Sowers of Woodlawn, and Larry & Lori Ring of Hillsville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Edward Richardson and Pastor Harvey Carico officiating. Burial will follow in the Freemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.

George Thomas Sowers, 82, of Route 2, Pulaski died Sunday morning at his home following an extended illness.

A retired farmer, Mr. Sowers was born in Floyd county August 10. 1877, the son of the late George Wesley and Elizabeth Mitchell Sowers and was a life-long member of the Methodist church and a member of the Jr. QUAM.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Bower Sowers; four sons, George Sowers, Cambria, Va., Ernest Sowers, Richmond, Walter Sowers and Johnny Sowers, both of Pulaski; four daughters, Mrs. Virgie Swain, Pulaski, Mrs. Stella Shelor, Radford, Mrs. Murlie King and Mrs. Ada Rhodes, both of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Lester, Radford. Also, twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p. m. from the Newbern Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Malcomb and the Rev. Clifton Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Dublin Cemetery.

Blacksburg, Feb. 2 - Mrs. Maggie ROBINSON, 68, died tonight in a Radford hospital. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. A. E. VENTURINO, Blacksburg; three sons, Frank and Kyle ROBINSON, both of Blacksburg; Thomas ROBINSON, Pearisburg; three brothers, Taylor SOWERS, Blacksburg; John SOWERS, Radford; Roe SOWERS, Kingston, W. Va.; seven grandchildren. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Blacksburg Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery.
