Conner, 96, of Radford, Va., passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born January 13, 1915, on Conner Mountain
near Matoaka, W.Va., he was the son of the late D.H. Conner and Addie Anna
Kingrea Conner. Eli had lived in McComas, W.Va., until 1955 before moving to
Bluefield, W.Va. where he worked for Kersey Manufacturing Company (a mining
equipment company). He then lived in Princeton for 10 years and moved to
Radford, in late 2002. Eli was a member of Maple View Church of Christ in
Green Valley and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Radford. He was a member
of the UMWA Local Union 6196 in Keystone, W.Va. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Ted, Arlie, Buck and Howard
Conner; and one sister, Allie Harvey. His only daughter, Jeanie Conner Miano
preceded him in death on November 7, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife,
Gracie Walker Conner, of Radford; son, Dale Conner and his wife, Nancy, of
Christiansburg; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Anthony Miano
and wife, Heather, Gina Miano, Marc Miano and wife, Sarah, Michelle Valentine
and husband, Shawn, Troy Malone and wife, Hope, and Debbie Shannon and
husband, Patrick; and seven great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include
one sister, Frances Burnette; special friends, Gary and Cathy Gibson, Macle and Gerelene Conner,

Conner Burnette, 90, of 421 Village Green Circle in Princeton, died, Friday,
July 27, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born July 18, 1922, on Conner
Mountain in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late D.H. and Addie
Kingrea Conner. Norma retired from Princeton Community Hospital where she
worked in the Housekeeping Department. She was a member of the Princeton
Church of God on Oakvale Road. She loved to crochet
and read. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Clarence Burnette; one
daughter, Anna Frye; six brothers, Ray, Ted, Arlie, Elmer, Howard, and Buck
Conner; one sister, Allie Mullins Harvey; and one son-in-law, Wayne Shrader.
Norma was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by one son,
Roger Lee Burnette of Princeton; two daughters, Norma Sue McPherson of
Princeton and Karen Shrader, with whom she made her home, of Princeton; 10
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of
Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Fred Farley officiating. Burial
will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Grandsons will serve
as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

away Saturday, March 11, 2006. She was born October 10, 1909 in Floyd County,
Virginia to the late Andrew Louis Conner and Almeda Vest Conner. She was of
the Primitive Baptist faith, as well as, a generous and loving mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. She graduated from Christiansburg High
School in 1929. She taught school at Goose Creek, a one-room school, and she
walked five miles each way for two years. She was known for her beautiful
quilts and crochet work and for her dedication to genealogy. She has spent
the last 30 years researching family history including Vest, Conner, Sowers,
Martin, Iddings and Richardson. She enjoyed reading the "Signs of the
Times" published by the Oldest Primitive Baptist of Meadows of Dan
passed on to her by her mother, Almeda. Her husband Dossie
William Sowers Sr. preceded her in death on April 25, 1968 after 37 years of
marriage and she thought of him and missed him every day. She continued the
family farm business for the last 37 years. She leaves behind a daughter
Marie Ann Sowers Vest and son-in-law Gratton W. Vest, Salem; a son {D. W.} Dossie William Sowers Jr., Salem; five grandchildren and
spouses, Rebecca {Becky} Vest Thomas, Salem, Debbie Vest Feury

186 Roma Road, North Tazewell, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at her
residence. Born on Jan. 15, 1911 in McComas, she was a
daughter of the late Noah and Hattie Kingrea Conner. She had been a resident
of North Tazewell for three years and was formerly of Stratford, Conn. She
was a 1936 graduate of McComas High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include: Niece: Margie Stenson, with whom
she made her home, of North Tazewell; nephew: Bruce Conner of Stratford;
several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday
(today), March 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel
in Bluewell with the Rev. Ray Amos officiating. Burial will follow on
Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may call on Friday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at

of Springville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in
Bluefield, Va., following a brief illness. Mrs. Stephens was born Aug. 30, 1912 in McComas to
Noah and Hattie Conner. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion
Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by two husbands, Tracy King and Kent Stephens; son, Jimmy King;
daughter, Norma Israel; and by two brothers, three sisters and one stepson. Left to cherish her memory is a sister, Elsie
Conner of Springville; sons, Gene King of Falls Mills, Va., Richard
"Dickie" King and wife Edna of Haymarket, Va., Anthony Stephens and
wife Cora of Springville; daughters, Beanna Stinson
and husband Clarence of Springville, Donna Stout and husband Lonnie of
Springville, and Sandra McClanahan of Bluefield; two stepdaughters, Lois
Fortune of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jewell Potts of Georgia; 22
grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 12 great great
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30,
2007, at 2 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev.
Ray Amos and the Rev. Keith Stiltner officiating.
Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Alan Stinson, T.J. Stinson,

Sunday, February 6, 2000 at his home. Mr. Conner was a retired employee of
VDOT Salem Shop, a lifetime member and charter member of Floyd County Fire
Department Station #3 and a Navy Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his
wife, Lillie Vest Conner; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Graham;
son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Evelyn Conner, all of Check; seven
grandchildren, Dwayne Graham, Karen and Doug Lucas, Lindy Nester, Deana
Conner, Debra and Joey Sutphin; three great-grandchildren, Crystal Lucas,
Brandon Lucas, Caytlynn Nester. Funeral services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2000 at the Maberry Funeral Home
Chapel, Floyd with Rev. Michael Vest and Rev. Layne Board officiating. Burial
will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to

peacefully Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born April 26, 1934, at McComas, he was the son of
the late Gracie Ann Austin Conner and Doc Huff Conner. Mr. Conner served his country for 20 years in the
U.S. Air Force and survived the Tet Offensive while stationed at Da Navy Air
Base. He retired as TSGT and had received several decorations, medals and
honors during his career. Following the service, he worked for 13 1⁄2
years for Overnite Transfer Company in Green
Valley, retiring in 1989. He loved the Atlanta Braves even when they let him
down. He attended the Fairview Community Church when his health permitted. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, John Cerbert Conner, Jackie Lee
Conner, Garwood Conner and Roy Conner, along with sisters, Ocie Ann Conner,
Hazel Davis and Mayda Williams. Left to cherish is memory, his devoted and loving
wife of 54 years, Mildred King Conner. He will be deeply missed by his
daughters, Donna and husband Galen Morris of Roanoke, Va., Deborah Hubbard
Hood of Princeton, and Diana and husband Courtney Fiery of Bluefield, Va. His
legacy includes three grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-grandson,
and four great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Jean
Belcher and husband Calvin of Garwood; brother, Randolph Conner and wife Faye
of Bainbridge, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Maxine Conner of Lashmeet,
and many nephews and nieces. His extended family, Dr. Chambers, Dr. Gabe, Dr.
Patel and the many nurses and staff of Princeton Community Hospital, and
Jason Rose, Michael King and James Wells. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday,
February 8, 2008, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of
the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor
Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens
on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today (Thursday)
from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends may share online

Allen Hubbard Jr., Matthew Fiery, Gus Chaknes, Eric
