Parents: Hannah Smith father not clear to this compiler. [Tankersly] James W. & Hannah (Smith) Iddings. Yes, these are the parents given in her marriage record but Im not sure this is correct . Sarahs mother is undoubtedly Hannah Smith, d/o Jabez & Elizabeth (Light) Smith. [Smith_Other_fcva] Hannah was married to Joseph B. Tankersly in 1844 but they are in separate households in 1850 & Hannah remarries in 1856 to Anderson Whitenack but I dont know that he is Sarahs father either. Sarah is with Anderson & his 1st wife Elizabeth (Smith) Iddings, but she is noted as Sarah E. Tankersly. Elizabeth (Light) Iddings was Hannahs mother from her 1st marriage to Jabez Smith. Then to make things more confusing, Sarah Elizabeth Eanes death record gives Anderson Iddings & Hannah Smith as her parents. There are Chancery Records that may sort this out. She is also survived by the following grandchildren, Jerry Handy, Ken Handy, Maria Miller, Sheila Keller, Mark Sheppard, Kreg Sheppard, and Karen Anderson of North Carolina, Phil Gillespie, Darryl Gillespie, Brent Gillespie, Laura Helms, Tammy Helms, Christy Kraftt, Angie Mattox, and Christal Costigan of Radford; Susan Lee, Stanley Hall, Travis Hall, and Dana Hall of Oakton, Virginia; also, she is survived by twenty-nine great-grandchilญdren, and three great-greatญgrandchildren.
