She was preceded to Heaven by her husband, Benjamin Asa Alley. She was born October 9, 1912 in the hills of Floyd County and moved to Salem with her husband in the late 1950's. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother as well as a caring friend to all who knew her. Throughout her life, she faithfully served God and her community as a member of Red Oak Grove, Masons Cove and Wildwood Grace Brethren Churches. Known for the magnificent flowers she grew; her floral arrangements graced the sanctuaries of each church she attended. She was one of the first merchants to sell produce at the Salem Farmer's Market in 1983 and continued thereafter for many years. Many friends and loved ones have been the blessed recipients of her kindness and hospitality throughout her time on this earth and she will be greatly missed. Surviving are a son, Aubrey Lee Alley of Florida; a daughter, Ella Mae McFalls, Roanoke; one sister, Margie Nichols, Pilot; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday from the Horne Funeral Chapel, Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. Leon Alley. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke. She is also survived by one brother, James McNeil of Floyd; brother and sisters-in-law, Albert and Roxie Williams and Margaret Williams. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001 at the church, with the Rev. Mike Spence, the Rev. Rick Collins and the Rev. Garry Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Congregational Holiness Cemetery in Shawsville. The family would like to express their appreciation to the New River Valley Medical Center for the care given Mrs. Graham and also to the many kind prayers, thoughts and concerns given during her illness.
