HAMM, PRICE posted by Walter A. Hamm on Thursday, July 15, 1999

Hi!, I am looking for information about my grandparents George HAMM and Elizabeth (Lizzie) PRICE. Both are believed to have been born in Bedford, Pennsylvania but moved to Cleveland, Ohio where they were married February 7, 1877. They are known to have two children . . . George, b. 1879 and Danford, b. 1893. Both grandmother Lizzie and uncle George died in July 1924, and were interred at Evergreen Cemetery, Concord, Lake County, Ohio. It is not known where grandfather was at the time of their deaths, but he did not live with Lizzie and son George in Painesville, Ohio when they died. Four years later, he also died and was buried in Highland Park Cemetery, Warrensville, Ohio. There is a second Lizzie HAMM also buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Lake County, who died of Typhoid Fever March 12, 1906. She was most probably a cousin to my father (Danford) and uncle George. If there any HAMMs related to George and Lizzie still living in Ohio, I would like very much to hear from them.

FEATHERSTON, KITTS, MILEY posted by Robert Featherston on Friday, July 16, 1999

I seek information on William FEATHERSTON(b. 10 Feb. 1818 in England) -- when arrived in Kirtland OH, details on birth of Edwin J. FEATHERSTON (b. 15 May 1850), mother of Edwin J. is Mary KITTS (m to William on 24 Jun 1849), details on Mary KITTS (death, divorce). It is known that William remarried to a Catherine MILEY (m. 13 Mar 1854) I would like to trace William's movements from Kirtland, possibly through Gallipolis OH and ultimately to Franklin cty. Kansas I will welcome any advice and/or assistance to aid in this search -- I'm still pretty new at this! Thank you in advance for any response.

MORTON posted by Patricia Craig Johnson on Sunday, July 18, 1999

Looking for info on Victoria Evalyn Adelaide MORTON, supposedly born in Painesville Lake Co OH - 11 Dec 1841. Parents only known as Mr. & Mrs. Morton. Not in 1840 Lake Co census. Nothing more known about Victoria until 1853 (can not find her anywhere in 1850 census) when she appears in home of Thomas McKnight in Independence, Washington Co TX. She is with her half sister Virginia Elizabeth McKnight, age 8 yrs, who is daughter of William McKnight, deceased, brother of Thomas. Washington Co. Court documents show that Thomas is appointed their guardian. Virginia has some bounty land certificates from her father's service in War for Texas Independence. Both girls share in an estate of their grandfather (not named) in Ohio. In 1858 a Sam Morton files a suit for Victoria in Washington County, claiming Thomas Mcknight is not managing the grandfather' estate properly. Thomas convinces county court everything is all right. Victoria and Virginia grow up and marry - both have families, leave many records, except most important one - what is the name of their mother. Victoria always said she was a direct descendant of John Morton, the signer of the the Declaration of Independence. Extensive research into John Morton's line has produced no link. I have been searching for Victoria's mother's name for ten years. Unanswered questions: What happened to Mr. Morton? How did Victoria's mother hook up with William McKnight who was from Loudoun Co VA and was in TX at least until 1838? Virginia was born in 1845. What killed William McKnight before 1853? Where was Mrs. McKnight when Thomas became guardian of both her daughters? There may be a link to Washington Hine of Painesville OH who went to Texas in 1868 and met his future wife, Lee Virginia Hill, in home of her brother, Samuel Reid Hill, husband of Virginia E. McKnight. Virginia died in Frost, Navarro Co TX in 1926 - no death certificate. Victoria married Isaac Miers in Williamson Co TX - 1866 died in Sonora, Sutton Co TX - no death certificate. Would like to resolve this before 2000!!

FLANNERY, HARDIN, HARDY, HOLLAN, HOLLAND, HOLLERN posted by Dan E. Flanery Jr. on Wednesday, July 21, 1999

My Great Grand Parents Daniel FLANNERY/FLANNERY and Hannora HOLLAN/HOLLAND were married in Lake County Ohio on June 2, 1856. I have a copy of their marriage license. Their first child Margaret was born Mar 16, 1857 in Painsville. OH. I am trying to find the true maiden name of Hannora. I have all the death certificates on their children and all of them have a different maiden name. The maiden names they show are HARDIN, HARDY, HOLLERN , etc. In the 1860 census of Burlington Racine County, WI were Daniel and Nora migrated to I found a Mary HOLLAND (born in Ireland) and her son James age 8 years old born in Ohio. I believe Mary may be Hannora's sister-in-law. I am hoping that HOLLAND is Hannora's Maiden Name. The marriage license's shows HOLLAN. Hoping someone can you help me find the real maiden name of my Great-Grand Mother. Also I am hoping to find a Mary HOLLAND, son James, Margaret FLANNERY and Hannora HOLLAND or whatever on the 1850 Census of Lake County, Ohio. If you also find Daniel Flannery/or Flanery on the 1850 Census of Lake County OHIO please let me know. If the 1850 Census is available on the Internet please also let me know how I can access it. Your time and efforts will truly be appreciated.
