Scottsdale -- Donese Buford Tackett, 61, a federal employee, died Dec. 1, 1982, at Maryvale Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Tackett, of 6555 E. Sixth St., was born in Texas and moved to Phoenix from California. He was a Mason. Survivors include his daughter, Diane Gibson of California; son, Scott of Scottsdale; and mother, Lilly Tackett, Bakersfield, CA. Memorial services will be today at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. TACKETT, Marjorie Marie

Marjorie Marie Tackett, 71, a retired employee of Good Samaritan Medical Center, died Nov. 26, 1982, at her residence. Mrs. Tackett was born in Asheville, N. C., and moved to Phoenix in 1936. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughters, Doris Baker and Joyce; sons, Reese and Melvin; two sisters, Margaret Exxleston of Maple Creek, Sask. Canada, and Mildred Smith of Phoenix; and two brothers, Dwight Drake of Perryton, TX, and Lloyd Drake of Marietta, GA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 11/28/1982.

TALLABAS, Cleofas R.

Cleofas T. Tallabas, 73, a retired tailor with Hanny's stores, died Dec. 6, 1982, at Hillhaven Health Care Center. Mr. Tallabas was born in Mexico and lived in Phoenix 67 years. TANNER, Ray B.

Ray B. Tanner, 79, a former security guard for American Steel Co. in California, died Saturday in a Valley hospital. Services were held for Tanner of 5443 W. State Ave., Glendale. Lily Mary Tapia, 66, of Phoenix, died Nov. 25, 1982. Mrs. Tapia was born in Starkville, Colorado, and moved to Arizona from New Mexico 12 years ago. TATHWELL, Theodore Edwin

TAVARES, Cruz

Miami -- Cruz Tavares, 87, a retired rancher, died Dec. 18, 1982, at Gila General Hospital in Globe. He was born in Mexico and moved to Miami from Texas last year. Survived by his wife, Hilaria; daughter, Isadora GOnzales; son, Juan; three sisters; a brother; 18 grandchildren. TAYLOR, Charles J.

19 May 1908 - 16 October 1982
Charles J. Taylor was born in Grenola, Kansas, and died Oct. 16, 1982, in a Valley hospital. He moved to Phoenix 18 years ago from Roswell, N.M., served in the Army during World War II and received an honorary award from NASA for work on Apollo 8 and 11. He had been a quality control assurance officer of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and lived in Tempe. Dona Edith Taylor, 77, of 2801 W. Van Buren, died Nov. 28, 1982, at Humana Hospital Phoenix. Mrs. Taylor was born in Oklahoma and moved to Phoenix from Texas 40 years ago. She was a homemaker. TAYLOR, Max A.

Central -- Max A. Taylor, 65, who was a guard for the Arizona State Highway Department and for Fort Grant, died Nov. 14, 1982, in Mount Graham Community Hospital in Safford. Mr. Taylor was born in Pima and attended Pima public schools. He had been a cook in Los Angeles. Vernon Gerald Taylor, 58, was born in Danville, Illinois, and died Oct. 13, 1982, in a Valley hospital. He was a heavy duty machinist. Justina Tegowski, 86, of 1833 W. Hazelwood, who was born in Poland and came to Arizona 10 years ago, died January 1, 1982, in her home. Survivors include children, Estelle Bland, Ft. Ernest C. Tennes, 86, a Mesa resident, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1982. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, and moved to Arizona from Michigan eight years ago. Cave Creek -- William A. Tensfeldt, 76, of Cave Creek, died Feb. 5, 1982, in St. Josephs' Hospital. He had been a maintenance foreman for Bendix Corp. He was born in Long Island, N.Y., and came to Cave Creek three years ago. Survivors include his wife, Alice; children, Bette Begley, William and Raymond; a sister; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. THAYER, Priscilla CHASE

Priscilla Chase Thayer, 75, a daughter of Phoenix pioneers Ezra and Cora Thayer, died Wed., Oct. 20, 1982, in a Valley sanitarium. Miss Thayer was born in Phoenix and graduated from Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix Junior College. She also graduated from the University of Arizona where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She served on the Women's Auxiliary to Good will Industries of Arizona nad was an accountant in Long Beach, CA, until moving back to Phoenix shortly before her death. She is survived by a brother and a nephew. 10/22/1982.

THEEL, Genevieve C.

Wickenburg --Genevieve C. Theel, 75, an Arizona resident for 12 years, died Dec. 15, 1982, at Phoenix General Hospital. Mrs. Theel, of 1322 Vista Drive, was born in Detroit and moved to Arizona from Michigan. She is survived by her husband, Alex; daughter, Patricia Kelley; sons, Harry Manlove, George and Thomas Theel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. THERIAULT, John E., Sr.

Scottsdale -- John E. Theriault, Sr., 86, a retired electrical engineer with Detroit Edison Co., died Dec. 24, 1982, at his residence. Mr. Theriault, of 8343 E. Meadowbrook, was born in Houghton, Michigan, and moved to Arizona from Rochester, Michigan, in 1971. He was an Army lieutenant during World War I and was a graduate of the University of Detroit. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Detroit, and World War I Barrack 2087 in Rochester, MI. He is survived by his daughter, Virginia; son, John, Jr., Neenah, Wisconsin; brother, Albert, Detroit, Michigan; sister, Mary Krier, El Paso, Texas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. THOMA, Carl Edwin

Carl Edwin Thoma, 72, who had been an executive in the retail furniture business for more than 40 years, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1982, in a Valley hospital. Mass for Thoma of 10226 Oak Ridge Drive, Sun City, was said today. He was born in Springfield, Illinois, and moved to Arizona in 1980 from Florida. He moved to Sun City in 1981. He was chairman of the board at Leath & Co. in Chicago, general manager of Barker Bros. in Los Angeles, vice president of W * J Sloane Co. in Beverly Hills, Calif., and president of Sunnyland in Houston and Modern Age in Miami, Florida. He was a member of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and Palmbrook Country Club in Sun City. Survivors include his wife, Evaline; a brother and a sister. 10/1/1982.

THOMAS, Bessie E.

Sun City -- Bessie E. Thomas, 95, 9630 Shasta Dr., died Dec. 16, 1982, in Glendale. Mrs. Thomas was born in Turton, S.D., and moved to Arizona from Minnesota three years ago. She formerly operated a farm with her late husband. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Smith and JoAnn Pederson; son, Charles E.; four grandchildren. 12/18/1982.

THOMAS, Donna Sue Burgener

Graveside services for Donna Sue Burgener Thomas, 41, chemistry supervisor at Riverview Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, were at Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Ave. Mrs. Thomas died Nov. 8, 1982, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born in Olney, Ill., attended Arizona State University and formery was a medical technician at St. Joseph's Hospital. She is survived by daughters, Brenda and Krista; sons, Floyd and Kerry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Elbert Burgener; a brother; a foster brother and a sister. Bapchule -- Irene Thomas, 70, a life-long Arizona resident, died Dec. 8, 1982, at Phoenix Indian Medical Center. Mrs. Thomas was born in Laveen and resided in Bapchule. THOMAS, John W.

John W. Thomas, was born in Rich Hill, Missouri, and died Oct. 19, 1982, in his Mesa home. He had been superintendent of schools in Ironwood, Michigan, from 1938 to 1956 and moved to Mesa in 1957 from Ironwood. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 188 in St. Louis, Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Ivaleen; a brother and a sister. The Phx Gazette 22 Oct 1982.

Jay Wesley Thornhill, 62, died Nov. 29, 1982, at Valley Hospital in Van Nuys, CA. He was born in Syracuse, New York, and moved to Phoenix in 1967. He received his bachelors degree from Penn State University and his masters degree from Purdue University. Mr. Thornhill commuted between Phoenix and Pasadena, CA, where he was an engineer and technical assessment manager of the photovoltaics program for the Jet Propulsion Labs. Mr. Thornhill served as a lieutenant in the signal corps during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Jackie. Interment Paradise Memorial Gardens. Wednesday, 12/1/1982.

THORP, Harold John

Services for Harold John Thorp, 86, mayor of Youngtown from 1967 to 1969, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lundberg's Gold Door Chapel, 11211 Michigan Ave., Youngtwon. Thorp of 12253 W. Augusta Drive, Sun City, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1982, in a Valley hospital. He moved to Arizona 24 years ago from his native Kansas. He was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 41 years. He was a member of the Youngtown City COuncil eight years before becoming mayor. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Sun City, the Masonic Blue Lodge, Sun City No. 72, the Scottish Rite in Wichita, Kansas, the Consistory and Shrine in Wichita, the Sun Sky Kiwanis Social Club, the Acacia Club, the Booster Club of Youngtown, the Telephone Pioneers of America in Wichita and the Sguaro Club of Telephone Pioneers of Sun City. Talford Clinton Throne, 63, a retired supervisor-clerk with Maricopa County Auto License Department, died Dec. 15, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Throne, of 3242 W. College Drive, was born in Freeborn County, Minnesota, and moved to Arizona from Iowa 40 years ago. He was a retired Army lieutenant colonel and World War II veteran. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association, Retired Officers Association and Nordman's Forbunt. He is survived by his wife, Ann; three sisters, Arlene Johnson, Albert Lea, Minn., Lorrela Hertzog, Munds Park, AZ, and Talora Grosland, Elgin, IL; and five brothers, Luverne, Manley, IA, Orivil, Mason City, IA, Harley, Mason City, IA, Raymond, Phx, and Lloyd of Minneapolis, MN.
