Juana Rios Cabecera, 84, a Phoenix native who had been a farm laborer, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1982, in a Valley nursing home. Mrs. Cabecera is survived by two daughters, Mary Luz Gonzales and Mary Adelina Dominguez; a son, Layo; two sisters; two brothers; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. CABRERA, Leonard, Sr.

Leonard Cabrera, Sr., 85, a retired line forman with Reynold Metals Co., died Dec. 17, 1982, in San Pedro, Calif. Mr. Cabrera lived in Phoenix for several years and moved to California in 1978. Robert Cady, 37, formerly of Phoenix, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1982, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Mr. Cady was a 1963 graduate of Arcadia High School. Florence -- James E. Caffall, 78, a retired copper miner, died Dec. 29, 1982, at Pinal General Hospital. Mr. Caffall was born in Dexter, N. M., and moved to Florence when he was 12 years old. Louis Cahn, 70, a retired merchant who moved to the Valley 23 years ago from his native New York City, died January 3, 1982, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Mr. Cahn, 6515 N. 12th Way, was a member of Beth El Congregation, Grand Canyon Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Jewish War Veterans Post 210 of Scottsdale and the Big Apple Club of New York. CAMPBELL, Virginia C.

Virginia C. Campbell, 68, of Phoenix, who had taught high school drama in Oklahoma, died Feb. 4, 1982, in St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Campbell was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and came to Arizona in 1945. She graduated from the Southwestern Teachers University in Oklahoma and had performed in productions of the Douglas Little Theatre in southeastern Arizona. Mrs. Campbell was the first president of the Camelback High School PTA and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority's Mom's Club at ASU. She was also a volunteer at the Arizona Girls Ranch and Good Samaritan Hospital and was a member of the Kiwanis auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Richard Dale Campbell; daughters, Paula Sue Radtke of San Jose, CA, and Sonja Dale Sowers of Riverside, CA; a brother, Bernard Methuin; two sisters, Paula Thomas and Emma Lou Fritz; and five grandchildren. CARPENTER, Joe Victor, Sr.

Joe Victor Carpenter, Sr., 51, who retired in 1975 as a major after 20 years in the Air Force, died Tues., Oct. 5, 1982, at his Gilbert residence. He was an instructor pilot on the T-38 jet trainer at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, N.M. He was a prisoner of war for six months in Vietnam. Thatcher -- Helen Orilla "Rilla" Carpenter, 77, a retired J.C.Penney Co. Sales clerk in Safford, died Dec. 19, 1982, at her residence. Mrs. Carpenter was born in the now abandoned mining town of Don Luis and had lived in the Gila Valley area most of her life. She was involved in many activities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving as president and teacher of the Primary organization, counselor and secretary of the MIA and Sunday school secretary and teacher. She also worked at the Mesa Temple for six years. She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters, Rayeleen Porter, Lynette Martin and Trelva Palmer; son, Jerry; a sister; a brother; 19 grandchildren. 12/20/1982.

CARR, Frank B.

Frank B. Carr, who was a department manager for Liggitt and Meyers Tobacco Co. 25 years, died Nov. 26, 1982. He supervised division managers in four Mid-western states. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and moved to Phoenix 26 years ago from Cincinnati. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After moving to Phoenix, he worked in the real estate business. He was an honorary Kentucky colonel. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Peggy Friese; son, Frank III, and six grandchildren. Lola R. Carr, who retired in 1955 as a librarian after 15 years with the Library of Congress in Washington, died January 6, 1982, in Beatitudes Care Center. Mrs. Carr, 1668 W. O. Buck Carr, 69, who had been a drummer in the Southwest during the Big Band era of the 1930s, died Dec. 7, 1982, at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Mr. Carr was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Arizona in 1952 from Midland. He was a civilian pilot instructor during World War II at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He also was an architect and builder. He was a member of the Elks, Musicians Local #586 and the Vintage Chapter of the Big Bands. Survivors include his wife, Pat; sons, Michael and Tyler Starr and Jack, Jay and Jeff Frost; daughters, Elizabeth Hughes, Janie Golden and Vicki Frost; and seven grandchildren. Private cremation. W. Paul Carter, 76, died Dec. 15, 1982. He was born in Hardin County, Iowa, and moved to Arizona 19 years ago. He retired after 31 years as owner of Carter Produce and was mayor of Union, Iowa, for four years an fire chief for 15 years. He also was a member of Montague Masonic Lodge. COOK, Robert Verne

Robert Verne Cook, 58, who had been a teacher in the Glendale Union High School District since 1952, died December 31, 1981, in his home, 62 W. Culver. Mr. Cook joined the faculty of Washington High School in 1955, where he taught speech, drama and English until the time of his death. The past 18 years he also taught in the Phoenix College evening division. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School and received the Rosenzweig Award as the outstanding male student when he graduated from Phoenix College in 1947. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Arizona and served with the Army Air Force in World War II as a meterologist. M. He was director in charge of bureau participation in the Missouri River Basin investigation, worked for 14 years with the U. S. Department of Agriculture and served as assistant cashier of the First National Bank and as a business development department representative. CUTHRELL, Lea

Lea Cuthrell, 70, a former beautician, died Sept. 30, 1982, in a Valley hospital. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Arizona in 1979. She is survived by a son, Richard Turner. Services were in New Salem Baptist Church, 1850 E. Grant. The Phoenix Gazette Thursday, Oct. 7, 1982.

CUTLER, Frederick A.

Frederick A. Cutler, 78, who had been executive director and secretary of the Executive Association of Greater Phoenix since 1957, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1982, in a Valley hospital. Services for Cutler were in First Congregational Church. He was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado, and moved to Arizona in 1951. he was a 1930 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles and received his master's degree in business from the University of Southern California in 1935. he was a past board member of the First Congregational Church and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, El Zaribah Shrine, the Elks and the Arizona Club. He also served on the board of trustees of the American Society of Association Executives and belonged to the Masonic Lodge of Western Springs, Illinois, and the Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife, Faith; two daughters, Kay Ford and Judith Cutler; three sisters; and five grandchildren. The Phoenix Gazette Tuesday, 10/5/1982.

CUTTER, Frank, Jr.

San Carlos -- Frank Cutter, Jr., 24, an employee of San Carlos Hospital, died Dec. 5, 1982, as a result of injuries sustained in a fire at his home. Mr. Cutter was a lifelong San Carlos resident and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cutter, Sr.; seven sisters and two brothers. Services were in World Evangelism Revival Center. CUZZOCREA, Anthony

Glendale -- Anthony Leo Cuzzocrea, 62, a candy salesman, died Dec. 29, 1982, in Maryvale Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Cuzzocrea, of 3601 W. Abraham Lane, was born in Detroit and moved to Arizona 40 years ago. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Laurine Russel and her husband, John, Mary and Anna Cuzzocrea; sons Lawrence Cuzzocrea, Phoenix, John Cuzzocrea and Vince Cuzzocrea, both of Phoenix; two sisters; two brothers and five grandchildren. Memorial services were at Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany. Interment Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery. 12/30/1982.
