Juana Rios Cabecera, 84, a Phoenix native who had been a farm laborer, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1982, in a Valley nursing home. Mrs. Cabecera is survived by two daughters, Mary Luz Gonzales and Mary Adelina Dominguez; a son, Layo; two sisters; two brothers; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. CABRERA, Leonard, Sr.

Leonard Cabrera, Sr., 85, a retired line forman with Reynold Metals Co., died Dec. 17, 1982, in San Pedro, Calif. Mr. Cabrera lived in Phoenix for several years and moved to California in 1978. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Fletcher; sons, Harold and Leonard; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mass was at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 909 E. Washington. A.L. CADY, Robert

Robert Cady, 37, formerly of Phoenix, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1982, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Mr. Cady was a 1963 graduate of Arcadia High School. He worked as a cable splicer for Commonwealth Edison Co. and was a Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Anne Marie Cady. Services were in Villa Park, Illinois. CAFFALL, James

Florence -- James E. Caffall, 78, a retired copper miner, died Dec. 29, 1982, at Pinal General Hospital. Mr. Caffall was born in Dexter, N. M., and moved to Florence when he was 12 years old. He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughters, Ameldia Belisle, Della Meadows, Stella Glenn and Sophie Wheeler; sons, James E., Jr. and Jack; three sisters, a brother, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. CAHN, Louis

Louis Cahn, 70, a retired merchant who moved to the Valley 23 years ago from his native New York City, died January 3, 1982, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Mr. Cahn, 6515 N. 12th Way, was a member of Beth El Congregation, Grand Canyon Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Jewish War Veterans Post 210 of Scottsdale and the Big Apple Club of New York. Survivors include his wife, Lillian; children, Rosalynne Krivitzky, Sandra Cohen, Stuart and Harry; six grandchildren; two sisters. CALUWAERT, Maurice W.

Sun City -- Rosary for Maurice W. Caluwaert, 74, who died Dec. 30, 1981, in a Sun City nursing home, will be today in Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Mass will be Saturday in St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 Del Webb Blvd. Mr. Caluwaert owned the Chicago Bead Works Co., which made bridal veils, for 40 years. He was born in Cincinnnati and moved to Sun City in 1973 from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose College, Davenport, Illinois, and had been a deacon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Glendale. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; children, Jean Glogowski of Minnesota, Lynn Steiner of Illinois, Eileen Streu of Illinois and John M. of Illinois; brother Charles of Illinois and sister, Heloise Barringer of Florida; eight grandchildren. Josefa V. Calzada, 83, a native of Mexico who moved to Arizona 44 years ago, died Tues., Oct. 5, 1982, in a Valley hospital. She lived in El Mirage and was a member of St. Teresita Church. CAMPBELL, Virginia C.

Virginia C. Campbell, 68, of Phoenix, who had taught high school drama in Oklahoma, died Feb. 4, 1982, in St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Campbell was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and came to Arizona in 1945. She graduated from the Southwestern Teachers University in Oklahoma and had performed in productions of the Douglas Little Theatre in southeastern Arizona. Mrs. Campbell was the first president of the Camelback High School PTA and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority's Mom's Club at ASU. She was also a volunteer at the Arizona Girls Ranch and Good Samaritan Hospital and was a member of the Kiwanis auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Richard Dale Campbell; daughters, Paula Sue Radtke of San Jose, CA, and Sonja Dale Sowers of Riverside, CA; a brother, Bernard Methuin; two sisters, Paula Thomas and Emma Lou Fritz; and five grandchildren. CAMPOS, Selestino N.

Services for Selestino N. Campos, 63, of 10907 W. Hopi, a landscaper who died Feb. 3, 1982, at Good Samaritan Hospital, were Saturday at St. Williams Catholic Church. Mr. Campos was born in Kansas and came to Arizona in 1961. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Tempe -- Arthur D. Camunez, 70, a retired lientenant colonel in the Army, died Dec. 16, 1982, in Veteran's Administration Medical Center. He was born in Las Cruces, N.M. and moved to Arizona 35 years ago. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. Rosanne Caramela, 56, who had worked as a Valley National Bank elevator operator for six years, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1982, in her Mesa home. Alonzo Card, 32, a dispatcher for the Salt River Police Department, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1982, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Card was an Arizona native. He was in the Air Force from 1969 to 1970 and was in the Air Force Reserve from 1970 to 1974. CARNETT, J. Orvil

Mesa -- J. Orvil Carnett, 68, a retired auto mechanic with Berge Ford in Mesa, died Oct. 29, 1982, at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Carnett, of 1621 W. Bentley, was born in Batesville, Ark., and moved to Mesa from Wenatchee, Wash., 20 years ago. Before working for Berge Ford, he was employed by Randall American in Mesa. Earll Drive, died Wednesday, September 29, 1982, in a Valley hospital. She was born in Mexico and brought to Arizona as an infant. She was a member of the Alianza Hospanica Americana. Survivors include a son, Jose Quinteros; seven daughters, Gumecinda Lopez, Margarita Orona, Josephine Rivas, Anita Quidera, Francis Rodriguez, Dora Moreno and Nellie Rios; a sister; 61 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. CARPENTER, Joe Victor, Sr.

Joe Victor Carpenter, Sr., 51, who retired in 1975 as a major after 20 years in the Air Force, died Tues., Oct. 5, 1982, at his Gilbert residence. He was an instructor pilot on the T-38 jet trainer at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, N.M. He was a prisoner of war for six months in Vietnam. CARPENTER, Orilla

Thatcher -- Helen Orilla "Rilla" Carpenter, 77, a retired J.C.Penney Co. Sales clerk in Safford, died Dec. 19, 1982, at her residence. Mrs. Carpenter was born in the now abandoned mining town of Don Luis and had lived in the Gila Valley area most of her life. She was involved in many activities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving as president and teacher of the Primary organization, counselor and secretary of the MIA and Sunday school secretary and teacher. She also worked at the Mesa Temple for six years. She is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters, Rayeleen Porter, Lynette Martin and Trelva Palmer; son, Jerry; a sister; a brother; 19 grandchildren. 12/20/1982.

CARR, Frank B.

Frank B. Carr, who was a department manager for Liggitt and Meyers Tobacco Co. 25 years, died Nov. 26, 1982. He supervised division managers in four Mid-western states. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and moved to Phoenix 26 years ago from Cincinnati. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After moving to Phoenix, he worked in the real estate business. He was an honorary Kentucky colonel. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Peggy Friese; son, Frank III, and six grandchildren. CARR, Lola R.

Lola R. Carr, who retired in 1955 as a librarian after 15 years with the Library of Congress in Washington, died January 6, 1982, in Beatitudes Care Center. Mrs. Carr, 1668 W. Glendale Ave., was born in Riley, Kansas, and came to Phoenix in 1966 from Topeka, Kansas. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ Scientists, Society of Mayflower Descendents and the Eastern Star. CARR, O. Buck

O. Buck Carr, 69, who had been a drummer in the Southwest during the Big Band era of the 1930s, died Dec. 7, 1982, at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Mr. Carr was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Arizona in 1952 from Midland. He was a civilian pilot instructor during World War II at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He also was an architect and builder. He was a member of the Elks, Musicians Local #586 and the Vintage Chapter of the Big Bands. Survivors include his wife, Pat; sons, Michael and Tyler Starr and Jack, Jay and Jeff Frost; daughters, Elizabeth Hughes, Janie Golden and Vicki Frost; and seven grandchildren. Private cremation. Snowflake -- John A. Carroll, 54, who worked for Salt River Project for 15 years in Phoenix, died Dec. 6, 1982, in Phoenix Veterans Medical Center. He was born in Santa Fe, N.M., and retired from Southwest Forest Industries Paper Mill in 1973 after working for seven years. He served in the Army and the Air Force during World War II. Cecil George Carson, 72, retired service station owner, died Nov. 26, 1982. He was born in Lehi, Utah, and moved to Leisure World three years ago. He was a high priest of the Mesa 49th Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of Willow Creek Country Club, Utah, and the Lions Club. Chino Valley -- Charles Albert "Al" Carter, 70, foreman at the Del Rio Ranch near Chino Valley, died Nov. 28, 1982, at his residence. He was born in Okmulgco, OK, and moved to Arizona 50 years ago. He was employed at Arizona Sand and Rock Co for 26 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local No. 428, Gideons International and Grace Baptist Church in Chino Valley. CARTER, W. Paul

W. Paul Carter, 76, died Dec. 15, 1982. He was born in Hardin County, Iowa, and moved to Arizona 19 years ago. He retired after 31 years as owner of Carter Produce and was mayor of Union, Iowa, for four years an fire chief for 15 years. He also was a member of Montague Masonic Lodge. Survived by his wife, Viola; sons, Robert W., San Antonio, TX, and Dale H., Camp Verde; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Reece, Phx., and Mrs. Noel "Lio" Larson, Phx; a brother, John H., Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. CARTER, Wyman "Dub"

CASPERSON, Helmer Cornelius

Sun City -- Helmer Cornelius Casperson, 84, who was a salesman for Sears Roebuck and Co. in Chicago for 33 years, died Dec. 24, 1982, in Sun Valley Lodge Nursing Home. Mr. Casperson was born in Baldwin, Wisconsin, and moved to Sun City in 1964 from Oak Park, Illinois. Mesa -- William L. Chapel, Jr., 72, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, died Dec. 3, 1982, at Las Flores Nursing Home. Mr. CHapel, of 320 Leisure World, was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., and moved to Arizona in 1933. He was a 1933 graduate of Cornell University. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Superstition Mountain Chapter of Retired Officers, U. S.
