TANG, Don

Tucson -- Don Tang, 89, long-time Tucson grocer, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1960, shortly after arrival at St. Mary's Hospital. A Tucson resident 78 years, Mr. Tang came to Tucson as a 12-year-old immigrant from Canton Province in China. He worked for a short time in California lumber camps but returned to Tucson and opened a grocery store. The AZ Republic 5 January 1960

TAYLOR, Esther, "Mama"

Mrs. Esther Taylor, affectionately known as "Mama" for years in the lumber producing areas of Arizona and Louisiana, died here yesterday (3 Jan 1960) at the age of 89. Until 1927 and retirement in Phoenix, Mrs. Taylor had spent most of her life managing hotels for lumber companies with the last seven of her working years at McNary. There she operated a hotel for the W. M. Cady Lumber Co. In 1927 she bought a home in Phoenix at 216 W. Osborn and lived there until moving to a Phoenix rest home where she died. She was a native of Mill Springs, Missouri. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Williams, Phoenix, and Mrs. Rudolph Stenglin of Colbert, Oklahoma; a son, Oscar Taylor, Phoenix; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, anad seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be tomorrow in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. The Rev. C. Vaughn Rock will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. TAYLOR, Ida M.

Mrs. Ida M. Taylor, 84, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1960, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Fulton, Kentucky, she moved to Buckeye in 1911. She came to Phoenix in 1920. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 1, Royal Neighbors and the widows of Spanish War Veterans. Services in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. Burial in Palo Verde Cemetery. She has no known survivors. AZ Republic 13 Jan 1960.

TAYLOR, John R.

Funeral services for John R. Taylor, 65, were conducted by Dr. Ivan Bell in Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Born in Bland, Texas, Mr. Taylor, who came to Phoenix 20 years ago, died in the Phoenix Veterans Hospital January 10, 1960. He served in World War I. Mr. Taylor worked for the Capitol Fuel and Feed Co. 19 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Deloresann, Phoenix; two sisters, Mrs. A. R. Abare and Mrs. J. C. Milliken, both of Slaton, Texas; and two brothers, W. Fred Taylor, Phoenix, and H. W. Taylor, Wolfforth, Texas. The AZ Republic 13 Jan 1960.

Mrs. Laura Taylor, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1960, at her home, 2005 E. Harrison. Born in Huntsville, Texas, she had been a Phoenix resident for 20 years. Survivors include her husband, Williw; three sons, James and Timothy of Phoenix and Clifton in the Navy; a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Henlry, Mobile, Alabama; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services at Webber's Eastlake Mortuary. Burial in Double Butte Cemetery. 10 Jan 1960.

Services for Mrs. Margaret E. Taylor, 50, were in Memory Chapel at A. L. Moore & Sons. The Rev. Wesley A. Darby officiated. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Taylor, a Gold Star mother, was born in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, and came to Phoenix 10 years ago. She died Jan 9, 1960, in a Phoenix hospital. Private services for Ulrich Stephen Thalheimer, 64, were in Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home, 330 N. 2nd Ave. The Rev. Stanley Brown of Central Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow. Mr. Thalheimer died Wednesday, December 30, 1959, in his home, 1941 W. Whitton. A native of Phoenix, he was a brother of Walter J. Thalheimer, former Maricopa County Superior Court judge. An air force veteran of World War I, he was a graduate of Stanford University. He was an electrical engineer in San Francisco before his retirement. Mr. Thalheimer was an amateur radio operator. His call letters were W7KMJ. Surviving in addition to Walter Thalheimer, are anotherbrother, Joseph, Fayetteville, Arkansas; a sister, Mrs. Emma Gannon, Phoenix; and a cousin, Paul L. TITTENGER, Arthur W.

Coolidge -- Funeral services for Arthur W. Tittenger, 68, who died Friday, January 1, 1960, in the Pinal General Hospital in Florence, will be conduct4ed tomorrow in the Cole and Maud Mortuary. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Tittenger was born in Ganges, Ohio, and was a teacher in Ohio schools for 17 years. Later he worked for the Westinghouse Corp. He came to Arizona three years ago and was an employe of the Arizona Children's Colony at Randolph. His home was in Coolidge. Survivors include his wife, Frieda; three sons, Jay, Sacramento, CA, Richard, Los Angeles, and Earl, Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Rollins, Mrs. Ralph Simpson, and Mrs. Harold Vesper, all of Mansfield, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Francis Crumb, Sacramento; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Masonic Lodge funeral services for Kenneth W. Torst, 50, who died Friday, January 15, 1960, at his home, were in Chapel in the Garden, Mercer Mortuary. Mr. Torst, who was born in California and came to Phoenix 10 years ago, was employed by Arden Farms Co. for 20 years. He was a member of the Palisade Lodge No. 637, F&M, in California, and Rameses Grott, Phoenix. Survivors include two sons, Richard of Venice, CA, and Ralph of Van Nuys, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Gunther of Santa Monica, CA, and Mrs. Marjorie Winner of Malibu, CA, and three grandchildren, 17 January 1960.

TOWNSEND, Clarence

Services for Clarence Townsend, 75, San Louis Obispo, Calif., and formerly of Phoenix, will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary. Dr. Kermit L. Long, of Central Methodist Church, and the Masonic funeral committee will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. Born in Belgrade, Missouri, Mr. Townsend, who came to Phoenix in 1908, resided here until retiring as a Southern Pacific engineer nine years ago, when he went to California. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 2 of Arizona, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and Chapter 22 of the Order of Eastern Star. Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Ethel; a son, Ralph, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; three sisters, Luella Townsend, Phoenix; Mrs. Cora Bowen, Modesto, Calif.; and Mrs. Emma Eidson, Pacific, Grove, Calif.; a brother, Lewis, Phoenix and three grandchildren. TSCHUOR, August George

Buckeye -- Funeral services for August George Tschuor, 67, who died Thursday, December 31, 1959, in his home, were conducted at the Buckeye Funeral Home. Masonic graveside services were conducted in the Lewis B. Hazelton Cemetery. Mr. Tschuor was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma and Texas before serving with the army in France from 1917 to 1919. In 1927, he came to Yuma and engaged in well drilling. He moved to Buckeye in 1937 and retired as a well driller in 1957. Survivors include his wife, Blanche; brothers, Ed, Lima, Ohio, Carl, Tulsa, Okla., Dewey, Painesville, Ohio; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Welch, Lima.

TUCKER, James W. Jr.

James W. Tucker, 35, a native of Prescott, moved to Phoenix 25 years ago. Served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. Wife, Ora; daughters, Linda Sue and Carol Lynn, son, James W. Tucker, III, all of Phoenix; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Tucker, Sr., Glendale. Published in the Arizona Republic June 17, 1962.

Funeral services for Henry Riley Turney, 87, of 509 W. Palm Lane, will be tomorrow in the Chapel of Memories at A. L. Moore & Sons, 333 W. Adams. Dr. Kermit Long will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mr. Turney, a native of Forest City, Missouri, died Wednesday (6 Jan 1960) in his home. He retired in 1939 after spending 9 years as a boilermaker with the Southern Pacific railroad. He came to Phoenix from Colorado in 1922. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. W. A.
