Ernest E. Caldwell, 77, former owner of a janitorial service had been a member 50 years of Masonic Lodge in Chicago. He was born in South Carolina and moved to Phoenix three years ago from Chicago. Survivors include a sister, Lucia RICHMON of Los Angeles; brother, Harry Caldwell, Detroit; and a niece, Mrs. Juanita Glass of Oxnard, California. Burial in Chicago. 5/10/1967.

CALLES, Manuel D.

86, a native of Tucson, was a retired cowboy. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Virginia APODACA, and a nephew, William C. COOK, both of Tucson. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix. 9/8/1967.

CAMPBELL, Archie B.

70, was born in Rawlins, Wyoming, and was a World War I veteran. Wife, Glodis; daughters, Betty Joe LUCAS, Mrs. William MILLIKEN, Mrs. Stanley HARDT; sons, Archie and Robert. Burial in Rawlins, Wyoming. 9/10/1967.

CAMPBELL, Elaine K.

40, was born in Aurora, Illinois, and moved to Arizona nine years ago from Wheaton, Illinois. Husband, Dave; daughter, Debra; son, David; mother, Elsie KRUEGER; sister, Dorothy STREAM. 9/1/1967.

CAMPBELL, Lawrence K.

Scottsdale -- Lawrence K. Campbell, 61, died Fri., May 12, 1967, in a Phoenix hospital. He was a retired furniture salesman who came to Scottsdale three years ago. He was a Masonic lodge member in Kansas City. He was born in Lexington, MO. Survived by a sister, Mrs. Almarine Rooks, Scottsdale, with whom he resided. Services were in Kansas City. 5/14/1967.

CANIDA, Minnie F.

Apache Junction -- Mrs. Minnie F. Canida, 59, a native of Michigan, who moved here nine years ago from Los Angeles, died Sunday, August 20, 1967, in a Mesa nursing home. Survivors include her husband, Henry, and a niece, Mrs. Patsy Lee of California. There will be private cremation, Desert View Mortuary announced. Tuesday, August 22, 1967.

CANINE, Herbert E.

21 Dec 1879 - 3 May 1967
Herbert E. Canine, 87, a retired carpenter who came to Phoenix 23 years ago from Burley, Idaho, died Wed., May 3, 1967, in Lincoln Hospital. He was born in Crawfordsville, IN. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masons and was a charter member of the Christian Church in Burley. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Jim of Shoshone, ID, and Herbert of Waukegan, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Hope Moller of Burley and Mrs. June Thompson of Los Angeles; a brother and two sisters out of state; five grandchildren and seven gr-grandchildren. Services and burial were in Burley. 5/5/1967.

CARL, Darrell Lee

Darrell Lee Carl, 39, a Phoenix upholstery man, became ill at home Sat., and was dead on arrival May 13, 1967, at John C. Lincoln Hospital. He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, and came to Phoenix from that city 10 years ago. He was a World War II veteran. He was employed by Colonial Upholstering Shop. Survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Bruce and Johnny; two daughters, Marita and Susan, all of Phx; his mother, Mrs. Veona TOOPES of Ottumwa. Burial in Deer Valley Memorial Gardens. 5/15/1967.

CARMACK, James E.

Mesa -- James E. Carmack, 69, a retired highway maintenance employe who moved here nine years ago from Garfield, Washington, died May 5, 1967, in Mesa Southside Hospital. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Garfield. He was born in Latah, WA. Survivors include his wife, Molly; and a brother out of state. Serivces and burial were in Garfield. 5/6/1967.

CARRO, Murrie J.

Kingman -- Services for Murrie J. Carro, 74, who died Monday, July 24, 1967, in Mohave County General Hospital, were at Van Marter-Hale Chapel. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Carro, a native of Big Sandy, was a veteran of World War I. He had lived in San Diego for 16 years before he returned to Kingman 11 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Mrs. Darlene S. Gardner; and a grandchild, all of Kingman; two sisters, Mary of Prescott and Mrs. Josephine Wright of Phoenix. CARRON, Paul E.

Casa Grande -- Services for Paul E. Carron, 56, who had been a farmer here for 20 years, were in Cole and Maud Mortuary. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Carron was a native Arizonan born in Flagstaff. He was a graduate of Flagstaff High School and the former Arizona State College at Flagstaff, now Northern Arizona University. Before coming to Casa Grande, he was a civilian worker for the Air Force and a clerk for the U. S. Forest Service. He was a director of the Casa Grande Cotton Oil Mill, past board member of the San Carlos Water Board and a member of the Casa Grande Elks Club. Survivors include his wife, Hildalee; a daughter, Mrs. Bette Nelson of North Ridge, Calif.; two sons, Gene and Bill Carron of Casa Grande; one brother and two sisters all out of state. CASE DIES at 76, MAGGIE SAVOY's MOTHER

Mrs. Alberta W. Case, 76, a teacher in the Roosevelt Elementary School until she retired in 1961, died of cancer Sunday in her home, 7550 N. 16th St. Mrs. Case was graduated from Des Moines College in 1915 and taught in Des Moines, Iowa, schools before coming to Phoenix in 1937. She was the mother of Maggie SAVOY, former Republic women's page editor now Mrs. James BELLOWS of Beverly Hills, California. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Madison Baptist Church, 6202 N. 12th St. Graveside services will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary announced. Mrs. Case, a native of Ottumwa, Iowa, also is survived by a son, Robert S. Case of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Charles NEVELN of Phoenix; two brothers, Robert WILLIAMS of Alameda, California, Roy WILLIAMS of West Hartford, Connecticut; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. CARZIS, Spyridon J.

Spyridon J. Carzis, 84, of 728 E. Moreland, a native of Greece, died yesterday, August 10, 1967, at his home. Mr. Carzis came to Phoenix in 1943 from East Chicago, Indiana, where he had served on the special police force for 34 years. He was a self-employed poultry dealer and a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Phoenix. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Phoenix. A Trisagion prayer service was held at Grimshaw's Palms Chapel, 334 W. Monroe. Services were at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 333 E. Virginia. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. CAVIN, Hester C.

83, of Picacho, had lived in Arizona 42 years. She was born in Alabama. Daughter, Mrs. Idessa BINKLEY of Picacho. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park. 9/7/1967.

CHAMBERLAIN, Cletus O.

Cletus O. Chamberlain, 52, who had been in the oil distributing business here 25 years and formerly owned the Mesa Oil Co., died Tuesday of a heart attack at his home, 9001 N. 18th Drive. Mr. Chamberlain was born in St. Johns and had resided in Phoenix the past 40 years. After serving in the Army engineers in World War II he established the Mesa Oil Co. in Phoenix and owned the Malco, Moco and Martin gas stations here. His World War II service in the Pacific included five major battles. He was a member of Arizona Masonic Lodge 2. Services will be tomorrow in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Friends may call there today. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Avanell; a son, Barry of Colorado Springs; a stepson, Richard Bayles in the Navy; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sharolyn Shirley of Santa Monica, California, and Denise Davis of Phoenix; and two grandchildren. CHANEY, Christine

Services for Christine Marie Chaney, 3, will be tomorrow in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Christine, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Chaney, was accidentally electrocuted Tuesday in the family home, 15001 N. 29th Dr. The family moved here eight months ago from Van Nuys, California. Surviving besides the parents are a brother, Michael; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chaney of Van Nuys and Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Emma Jean Charland, 37, a member of the First Baptist Church in Sunnyslope, died Sun., May 7, 1967, in Lincolnc Hospital. She was a clerk at the hospital. She was born in Gainesville, GA, and had resided in Phoenix the past 10 years. Survivors include her husband, Ray; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Grant; a brother, Richard, and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Cleghorn, all of Gainesville. Burial in Gainesville. 5/9/1967.

CHASTAIN, Gladys

64, was born in Newton Stewart, Indiana, and moved to Phoenix 14 years ago from Oklahoma City. Daughter, Dorothy APPLE; a brother and two sisters out of state. Burial in Memory Lawn Cemetery. 8/22/1967.

CHAVES, Allen Fred

Winslow -- Marine Pfc. Allen Fred Chaves, 19, was killed in Vietnam. He was born in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School in 1966. Survived by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max CHAVES of Winslow; two brothers, Jonnie of Culver City, CA, and Glenn Ray of Hawaii. Services were held at the Elks Auditorium. CHAVEZ, Hector Gomez, Jr.

Hector Gomez Chavez, Jr., 3, was fatally injured when struck by a car in Guadalupe and died Thurs., May 4, 1967, in Tempe Hospital. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Gomez, Sr. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Richardo and Alfred; and grandparents, Mrs. Frances Chavez and Mrs. and Mrs. Ray Gomez, all of Phoenix. CHAVEZ, Julia Medina

Rosary for Mrs. Julia Medina Chavez, 53, a resident of Phoenix for 52 years, who died Saturday, August 26, 1967, in St. Joseph's Hospital, were today int the family home, 740 E. Buckeye Road. Mass of Requiem was said in Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 909 E. Washington. Burial in Guadalupe Cemetery. Mrs. Chavez was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, and brought to Phoenix as an infant. Survivors include her husband, Jose; five daughters, Mrs. Olivia Rael, Juanita, Clara, Margaret and Julia Chavez; three sons, Jose, Jr., Ray and Ruben Chavez; three brothers, Jose Medina, Arnold Medina and Leo Medina, all of Phoenix; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Fedrico of Eloy, Mrs. Manuela Ruelas, Mrs. Remedios Gonzales and Mary Medina, all of Phoenix; and eight grandchildren. CHERRY, Claude W.

Sun City -- Claude W. Cherry, 73, an attorney 20 years for Hildebrand, Nelson & McLeod in Oakland, California, died May 11, 1967, in Mountain View Pioneer Hospital, Youngtown. He was a member of a Masonic lodge in his native El Reno, OK. He was a member of the United Church of Sun City and was an Army veteran of World War I. He graduated from Oklahoma University and received his law degree from the University of Arkansas. He moved to Sun City seven years ago from Los Angeles. Survivors include his wife, Evalyn, and a sister out of state. Burial in El Reno. 5/12/1967.

Scottsdale -- Lionel N. Childress, 53, owner and operator of the Desert Treasures food specialty houses in Scottsdale and Tucson, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1967, in Phoenix VA Hospital. Mr. Childress was a cattle rancher in Texas before moving here a year ago. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a World War II pilot in the Air Force where he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was born in Wellington, TX. Survivors include his wife, Tidwell; two sons, Robert and William; and a daughter, Sara Lynn Childress, all of Scottsdale. Burial in Green Acres Cemetery. Aug. 17, 1967.

CHOLAS, Anastasia

Pete Cholas, 80, and his wife, Anastasia, 60, were killed in an auto crash at Kayenta on the Navajo Indian Reservation. Mr. CHOLAS retired to Phoenix six years ago from sheep ranching in Paonia, Colorado. He was born in Greece and came to the United States 50 years ago. Survivors include a son, Tom of Montrose; daughter, Mrs. Georgia FOURLIS of North Hollywood, Calif.; brother, Steve of Paonia; two grandchildren. Mrs. CHOLAS was born in Greece. CHRISTESON, Donald E.

Rites for Donald Eugene Christeson, 25, a mechanic for Western Truck Sales, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Paradise Chapel, 3934 E. Indian E. Indian School. Mr. Christeson 4430 N. 44th St., died Tuesday at his home. He had served in the Army. Born in Rolla, Missouri, he moved to Phoenix 12 years ago from Houston, Missouri. Survivors include a son, Bryan K.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Christeson; a sister, Mrs. Donna Johnson; and a grandfather, Fred Christeson, all of Phoenix; and grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Smith of Rolla. Glendale -- Mrs. Rosa E. Cisneros, 65, who was born in Mexico and came to Douglas in 1914, died Sunday, May 7, 1967, in Phoenix Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Cisneros, 6801 N. 55th Dr., had resided in Glendale 31 years. Rosary in Brazill-Whitney Mortuary, 5754 W. Glenn Dr. Mass of Requiem in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church here. Bliss, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Lupe Sais of Sierra Vista, Mrs. Mary Sanutio of Cashion, and Mrs. Alice Hernandez of Watsonville, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. CLARK, Clara May

Services for Mrs. Clara May Clark, 65, who died yesterday in Memorial Hospital, will be 10 a.m. tomorrow at Bloom's Mortuary, 3800 S. Central. Burial will be in Double Butte Cemetery, Tempe. Mrs. Clark moved to Phoenix in 1929 from Lawrence, Kansas. She was born in Maryland. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clara Mae Fatheree, and four sons, Carl C., Herchel, Ben J. and Roger L., all of Phoenix; three brothers and seven sisters living out of state; and 23 grandchildren. CLARK, Elmer Charles

Elmer Charles Clark, 76, a member of the First Baptist Church, died Tuesday en route to Mesa Southside Hospital. Mr. Clark, 309 E. Baseline, a retired farmer, came to Arizona 43 years ago and had resided in Mesa the past 42 years. He was a Masonic lodge member in County Line, Arkansas. He was born in Wray, Colorado. Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Gibbons Mortuary, 33 N. Sirrine. Friends may call there from 4 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mesa Cemetery with graveside rites by Oriental Masonic Lodge 20 members. Survivors include his wife, Mattie E.; two daughters, Mrs. Elaine Smith of Lakeside, Mont., and Mrs. Helena Bouton of San Diego; four brothers and five sisters out of state; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. CLARKE, Beatrice E.

Beatrice E. Clarke, 83, died Fri., May 12, 1967, in a Phoenix hospital. Mrs. Clarke came from her native England to Rhode Island in 1923 and settled in Phoenix in 1952. She was a housewife. Surviving are her husband, Willie; and a daughter, Mrs. Annie Hartley, both of Phx. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. 5/14/1967.

CLAUS, Mrs. Elfreda E.

Mrs. Elfreda E. Claus, 77, of 1017 E. Moreland, died Sunday, August 6, 1967, in a local hospital. Born in Germany, she came to Phoenix in 1949 from Chicago.
