Funeral services for Carl Cornelious Monroe, 33, of the Live Oak community, will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Berean Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. Herbert Lee Hawkins Jr. officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, Bay City.

Mr. Monroe was born Sept. 22, 1959 in Cedar Lane to Tom and Margaret Hawkins-Monroe and he died March 6, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Fredrick D. Monroe and Bryan A. Hall of Freeport; a brother, Tommy Monroe of Brazoria; three sisters, Marilyn Dickerson of Houston, Thelma Thompson of Atlanta, Ga. and Leslie Monroe of Houston; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Monroe.

Pallbearers will be Michael Edison, Otis Hawkins, John T. Robinson, A. C. Monroe, Mack Lewis Jr. and Raymond Green. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Monroe Jr., Andy Hawkins, Mike Hawkins, Leroy Sidney, Robert Jones and Elmo Jones.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Levi Monroe Sr.

Funeral services for Levi Monroe Sr., 74, of Angleton, are scheduled for noon Wednesday at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. R. Newell officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Visitation will be from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. today at the Dixon Funeral Home chapel in Brazoria and a wake service will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. today at the Dixon Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Monroe died Jan. 14, 1994, at Angleton-Danbury Hospital.

He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Monroe of Angleton; three sons, Charles Monroe and Levi Monroe Jr., both of Angleton, and John Earl May of Brazoria; four daughters, Myrtle Reeves and Christy Monroe, both of Hitchcock, and Patricia Monroe and Jacqueline Monroe, both of Houston; two brothers, Kermit Monroe of Live Oak and Louis Monroe of Van Vleck; a sister, Elizabeth Greer of Live Oak; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Michael Grear, Lee Monroe Jr., Gabriel Bradshaw, Tommy Monroe, John Earl May and Sammy Ray Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers are Kermit Monroe, Louis Monroe, Ronald Greer, Samuel Owens, McKinley Owens Jr., McKinley Owens Sr. and Wesley Reeves.

Louis T. Monroe

Funeral services for Louis T. Monroe, 65, of Van Vleck are scheduled for noon Saturday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Ruben Newell officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery of Van Vleck.

There will be a wake from 8 to 9 p. m. today at Green’s Mortuary chapel in Bay City and visitation will be from 11 a. m. to noon Saturday at the church.

Mr. Monroe was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Van Vleck to Ede and Patsy Franklin Monroe and died March 9, 1994, in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Greer of Live Oak and Delores Harris of Houston; a brother, Kermit Monroe of Live Oak; three sisters-in-law, Ada Monroe of Live Oak, Bessie Monroe of Cedar Lane and Emma Monroe of Angleton; a devoted cousin, Derotha Jones of Van Vleck; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Eugene Stroman, Tommie Monroe, Lee Monroe Jr., Darrell Monroe, Charles Monroe, Richard Ashton, Marvin Ashton and Kenneth Monroe.

Honorary pallbearers are Kermit Monroe, Rev. Ronald Greer, Billie Polk, Joe Times, J. C. Ashton and Otis Dickerson.

Ben Moore II

Funeral services for Ben Moore II of Bay City are scheduled for 2:30 p. m. Sunday at Mother Zion Baptist Church in Bay City with the Rev. L. K. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Family and friends may call on the family until 9 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel.

Moore, 67, was born Dec. 7, 1922, to Ben and Ethel Moore of Wharton and died May 10, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

He is survived by one son, Elvan Moore of Freeport; one step-son, Melvin Brown of Dallas; mother, Mrs. Ethel Moore of Bay City; four sisters, Mrs. Luvenia Sorrell of Cedar Lane, Ms. Annie Moore and Mrs. Ellener Woodard of Bay City and Mrs. Irene Henderson of Houston; Four brothers, Percy, Cunnie and Lawrence Moore of Bay City and Leon Moore of Cleveland; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Active pallbearers include Steven Moore, William Green, Floyd Williams, Eugene Drake, Curtis Moore, Robert Moore, Samuel Nelson and Elliot Moore.

John Lewis of Bay City; five sisters, Dorothy DeLoach, Mary Lee DeLoach, Josephine Drake and Bernice Williams, all of Bay City, and Leanna Lewis of LaMarque; four brothers, Saul Andrews of Hitchcock, Sammie Andrews of Houston, Robert Andrews and Roosevelt Franklin of Bay City; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers include Bobby Jo Brown, Charles Brown, Melvin Brown Jr., Ronnie Ford, Roscoe Moore and Roy Tims.

Funeral services for Evans Murry, 82, of Van Vleck will be held at 1 p. m. Saturday at Church of God of Prophecy, Van Vleck with the Rev. Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Van Vleck.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mr. Murry was born June 7, 1902, and died Oct. 14, 1986, at his home.

He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vesta Rodgers: a brother, Ed Murry; six sisters, Mary, Annie Bell, Katherine, Justine, Elnora and Willie; two grandsons, Charles Harris and Marvin Harris; and two great-grandsons.
