Florida Ray King

Funeral services for Florida Ray King, 66, of Houston, will be held Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck, with the Rev. Ruben Newell, pastor, and the Rev. K. Frederick, eulogist. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3 until 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

She was born in Matagorda County, Texas, Wednesday, November 18, 1936 to Jerline Riggs and Mike Kendrick, and passed away Friday, May 30, 2003 at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise King Allen and Johnny, and two sons, Clarence King and Michael King, all of Houston; also two grandchildren, Gianna Allen and Johnny Allen, and one brother, Willis Jones, all of Houston, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a family of friends.

Dorothy Pearl Tane Knapp

Funeral services for Dorothy Pearl Tane Knapp, 50, of Van Vleck will be held Saturday, July 24, 1999 at 11 a. m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Van Vleck. Officiating will be Rev. Ruben Newell. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Mrs. Knapp died July 17 at her Van Vleck residence. She was born July 4, 1949 in Bay City to John Tane and Jessie Mae Tane.

Visitation will be Friday from 7 p. m to 9 p. m. when the family will receive friends at the Chapel at Green’s Mortuary. Dorothy Pearl will lie in state at the Church Saturday morning from 10 a. m. to 11 a. m. in Van Vleck.

Dorothy was preceded by her father, John Tane; husband, Robert Knapp; grandchild, La Shay Keith; grandmother, Zelma Young; aunts, Mattie Norman and Johnnie Mae Smith and uncles, Leon Matthews, Eugene Franklin and L. T. Franklin.

She is survived by her mother, Jessie Mae Tane Keith of Van Vleck; two sons, James Edward Keith of Van Vleck and Johnny Ray Tane of Bay City; two daughters, Barbara Knapp of Lake Jackson and Jessie Mae Tane of Bay City; two aunts, Joyce Johnson and Edna Clay of Bay City; nine grandchildren; one special grandchild, La Keisha Knapp of Lake Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Jims, James Edward Keith, Lawrence Johnson, Johnny Ray Take and honorary pallbearer Clifton Johnson.

Frances A. Lewis

Funeral services for Frances A. Lewis, 82, of Van Vleck was held at 10:30 a. m. Saturday at St. John’s Baptist Church, Van Vleck, with the Rev. Ruben Newell officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Van Vleck.

Visitation was until 9 p. m. Friday at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Lewis was born Aug. 14, 1902, to Isaac and Louvenia Clark Sheppard in Texas, and died April 11, 1985, at her residence.

She was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include a sister, Mamie Lou Jackson of Van Vleck, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were James Ashton Jr., Gary Ashton, Marvin Ashton, Dewitt Alliniece, R. A. Wiley, John Alliniece III, Mike Alliniece, Lawrence Grice, Floyd Wiley, Horace Davis and C. H. Singletary.

Arrangements were with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.
