KEARVILL posted by Mike Kearvell on Wednesday, November 5, 2003

In the 1890 Nebraska State Gazetteer Farmer's List there is a William KEARVILL. I have reason to believe that he could be related to me and would appreciate any help in being able to investigate further. Are there other sources of information that I can refer to? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

FREYERMUTH, GOERING, HAMLETT, MESTER posted by Julie Mester on Friday, December 5, 2003

I am seeking more information on Louis FREYERMUTH and family. Louis appears on the 1920 Census in Platte County, Creston Township with his wife Amelia Schrieber. Louis also appears on the 1930 Census in Creston Township as a widower. I have not been able to identify what year the family moved to Platte County. They had four children before settling in Platte County: Anna Elizabeth b.1876 in Iowa--married to Joseph Caleb HAMLETT, Caroline "Carrie" b. 1879 in Iowa--married to Henry John MESTER, Charles--b. abt 1886 in Nebraska, and Mabel Dora--b.1891 in Hay Springs, Nebraska--married to Phillip GOERING. I believe that son Charles and daughter Mabel resided in Humphrey Township around the 1920-1930 census periods. Any further information would be appreciated.

GALLIGAN, HOWARD posted by J Howard on Wednesday, February 18, 2004

I have traced our ancestors to Platte County , St. Bernard, village of Lindsay. The Galligans were there in the 1870s and Annie Galligan married Thomas F. Howard in Colorado and moved to Lindsay around 1890. The 1900 census shows Thomas and family in Lindsay. I believe that Thomas, a civil war veteran, died there before 1912. I can find no record of his burial. I believe that Annie's relatives were buried in St. John's and St. Peter's Catholic cemeteries. She moved to Oklahoma after Thomas died. I hope to find the final resting place of our elusive Thomas. Any information on Howards or Galligans in Platte County would be appreciated.

Help Help Help -Those are all the ways to spell Kus, regarding Michael, Joseph, Thomas, John, Jacob, Stanislaus, Marianna, Anna and Apolonia Kus/Kush; all who came to Platte, Nance and Polk Counties from Leki, Galicia, Poland in 1868 to 1895. Stanislaus and Mary Kusz are listed in the 1880 census, Butler Pct, with Michael and Katherina Kusz. Stanislaus and Mary are listed as farchin and marchin. I have found Stanislaus and Mary Brundy marriage record in the Leki Parish records, but very little till 1880 census. In fact there is few records after the marriage record. On Michael Kus's death certificate father and mother are listed as unkowen. Parish record entries state that Michael and Apolonia Dudek are his parents. My question is WHERE IN THE WORLD IS STANISLAUS AND MARY KUS? Any info would be greatly appreciated, even if you don't think so. Any info.

GENTLEMAN, SULLIVAN posted by Clara Marx on Saturday, April 10, 2004

William GENTLEMAN and his wife Johanna SULLIVAN first went to Canada from County Kerry Ireland. Their sons were Thomas, Robert and William--all born in Co. Kerry Ireland. Their youngest, Bridget, was born in Paris, Canada. They moved to Platte Center around 1878 and lived there for years. Thomas, my great grandfather, married Catherine Mary Furlong in Springfield Illinois. They later moved to Omaha. Robert married Mary Fagan and moved to Omaha. William married Nellie M. Darling and also moved to Omaha. Bridget married Daniel Kavanaugh who was the sheriff in Columbus off and on for many years. William and Johanna Gentleman lived with Bridget (Bride) in Columbus in their old age and supposedly were buried in Columbus Catholic cemetery. Whether this is true or not I don't know as we couldn't find the stones. I would love to find out where they are. My grandfather Peter Conlan was there in 1900 as there is an account of a murder that was committed by one of my Gentleman relations and my grandfather Peter was a doctor. He is the one who cared for this man before he died and then pronounced him dead. This was Nicholas Gentleman.

GARDNER posted by Kristin Henry on Friday, July 16, 2004

My great-grandfather, Milton Travis GARDNER, came to Genoa from Pennsylvania, then Illinois, and Lucas, IA. His family consisted of wife Louisa Jane, and children Edward, Minnie, Harry, George, and my grandfather John. He would have lived in or near Genoa/Columbus sometime between 1885 and 1905. I know son John Gardner enlisted in the Co B, 1st Regiment Nebraska Infantry from Columbus during the Spanish-American War - I have pictures of the Phillipines, and him serving at that time. But I have been trying to find out where his family lived during their time in Nebraska. About 1901, after the war, John moved down to Oklahoma and lived the rest of his life there. My parents just moved up to Hastings from Oklahoma due to their failing health, and I have planned a road trip on Friday to Fullerton and Genoa, hoping to find out more information. We do know that son George lived in Platte County at the 1900 Census (under Gardener) and son Edward lived in Nance County in the 1900 Census - I cannot find Milton Travis Gardner located at this time. Any help you could give would be appreciated!
