BORKE posted by Maggie Spetnagel on Friday, April 10, 1998

I am looking for information on Franz (Frank) BORKE. He was born July 28, 1840 in Austria and died May 07, 1921 in Columbus NE. I would be interested to find any of his siblings. He and his wife had 11 children and 8 were living in 1900. I heard that their passage was arranged by someone named Greisson in Columbus NE and that the fare from Austria to Columbus was $56. I am interested in this Greisson operation. I believe the BORKEs came through Ellis Island in 1893. I would also like information on cemeteries in Columbus that were in operation in 1921.

Looking for Victoria GUNCHEK, GUNCHECK, GUNCHIK, or GUNCHICK, or something close. She is my great-grandmother, and was born on December 20, 1882 or 1883 (prayer card vs. death certificate). Victoria was known as Dora. She had brothers Frank and Jacob, that our family knows about. We only know the surname of her father, and her mother was a KNOPICK, who remarried a KOTLARYZ/KUDLARZY. Dora at some point moved to Omaha, where she married my great grandfather, also of Polish descent. My great-grandfather was John LACOMA, born in Tarnov, NE on June 24, 1880, and died in Omaha. His parents were immigrants from Poland, Paul LACOMA and Anna SLIWA.
