I am searching for information relating to my paternal grandmother, Anna Belle MARS GILMORE. She was living in or near Platte Center, Nebraska on November 14, 1906-the date of her marriage to my paternal grandfather, Francis C. GILMORE. Her maiden name was MARS. She lived in the J.R. Smith home. She was not related to that family but was taken in by Mrs. Smith. My grandmother's family did not have the resources necessary to satisfactorily provide for all members of the family. Thanks.

I am searching for information on my grandfather, Henry Gerhard BLESSEN. He was born April, 1871 in Oldenburg, Germany; came to U.S. c1887; died Oct., 1939 in Crowley, Acadia Parish, LA. According to his obituary, he came to the states to go into business with his brother who lived in Platte Center, NE; however, the brother's name is not given. The article states that the brother died before 1939. I have found two Blessen families in the 1900 census for Platte County--both heads of family were born in Germany--1) John Blessen with wife Anna and children Henry, William, and John; and 2) Fredrick Blessen with wife Wilhemenia and children Wilhelm and George. Can anyone shed any light on the relationship between these two families? Does anyone know of descendents? Henry Gerhard went to LA with the older Loewer family of NE. Please contact me with any information on the BLESSENs. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I have a document, "Declaration of Intention," issued to my grandfather, Johann KOLLMANN (30), on November 1, 1880, wherein he declared under oath his intention to become a citizen of the United States and renounce any allegiance to The Emperor of Austria. This document was signed by John Stauffer, Clerk of the District Court for Platte County, Nebraska (by CN Newman, Deputy). Sometime thereafter, Johann KOLLMANN homesteaded land north of Stuart, Nebraska (in Holt County) where he remained until his death in 1925. If anyone could tell me anything more about Johann KOLLMANN (later changed to John KOLLMAN), I would appreciate it. Especially where in Austria he came, also did he have other brothers or sisters who came with him, or whom he may have left behind. His first wife was Mary STRAKA (dates and places unknown) and upon her death in 1886 he married Mary VINCENZ (no information on her either) except that on her tombstone which reads: 1855-1939. All three of these people are buried in the St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Atkinson, Nebraska. Thanks for any help!

Their destination was Lindsay, Nebraska and we believe that Hans was born sometime after they arrived. Hans married Eliza "Lizzie' JOHNSON (daughter of Nels Johnson and Semnie Minnie Riis) in 1909. Hans and Lizzie had 4 children, all born in Rosenburg. Lizzie died in 1920. Three of their oldest children were sent to an orphange in Tyler, MN. We do not know anything more on Hans. Can anyone help me locate more about them? Thank you.
