SPIDLE, STEVENS posted by Zola (Stevens) DeLuca on Monday, July 29, 2002

Grandfather Charles Albert STEVENS; Grandmother Stella SPIDLE. Their children: Clyde, Albert, William (Bill), Chauncy (Channy), Roy (my father), Charles (Chuck), Gladys, and Edith (Babe). I've heard different stories as to where they came from. From England by way of Canada. They or their families owned a store of some kind. Also a gravel pitt or some kind of construction business. There is also a Lutheran minister somewhere.

Charles and Stella aka Mimi lived in Columbus and Schuyler, then moved to Oregon in the early forties. Albert, Bill, Channy, and my dad Roy, moved there also. Clyde lived in Grand Island and passed several years ago. My dad, Roy Albert, passed in 1975 at the age of 55. I would like to find anyone on my dad's side.

PALMER, WESTCOTT posted by Sue Peterson on Thursday, August 8, 2002

Below is an obituary for Edward P. WESTCOTT, who I believe is the youngest son (twin of Ada) of George W. and Miriam/Merrian (PALMER) WESTCOTT. Does anyone have information about Edward or his twin sister Ada. She may have married a gentleman - or gentlemen named Miller and Joslyn/Joslin. I think she may have died in Phoenix, Arizona. Am also seeking more information on Edward's son, Alonzo David Westcott. Here is Edward's obituary:

"Eddie P. Westcott was born at Marseilles, Illinois, February 28, 1862. He died at Sidney Montana, March 19, 1944 at the age of 82 years and 20 days.

He was the youngest, a twin of a large family, all of whom have preceded him in death. As a young man he went to Nebraska, where he met and married Eva Viola Harmon in 1890 at Silver Creek, Nebraska. His father-in-law, David Harmon (after whom Harmon street is named), came to Montana about 1905 and Mr. Westcott came here to make his home in 1908. He has resided here since that time. His wife died here January 27, 1919 and is buried here. He leaves to mourn his demise, one son, Alonzo David Westcott, wife and one granddaughter, Betty Jane Westcott. He has for several years resided on his farm southwest of Sidney and part of that time in Sidney. His illness was of short duration and his demise was unexpected.

Funeral services were held at the Burgess Mortuary at 2:00 o-clock Wednesday afternoon, March 22, with Rev. W.D. Kemmis officiating. Burial was made in the Sidney cemetery, where a brief committal service was held at the grave. Pallbearers were Albert Groskinsky, Al Obergfell, W. T. Merrill, Henry Paulson, Chas. Woodruff and Roy Rounce."

JUREK, KUSH posted by Debi Kush Waterman on Saturday, February 15, 2003

I have finally connected Joseph KUSH b 1862/5 Poland; Meikel KUSH b. 1842 Poland and Thomas KUSH b 1851 Poland. Through church records from Poland they are brothers. I have pictures of Joseph and Thomas and believe one to be of Meikel. The resemblance is unbelieveable. They also had a sister Maryanna, b 1839 Poland, who married Thomas JUREK. I believe that the Platte Co, NE Thomas JUREK and Mary are the sister Maryanna. Does any one have any info on this family?

Elva WAKEFIELD Information wanted regarding this lady. When I was about 8 years old we visited my mother's sister Clara Herbes Karthaus in Humphrey, NE. My cousin, Effie Louise Karthaus showed me a grave in a Humphrey cemetery with a headstone "ELVA WAKEFIELD". She commented to me at the time that the grave was that of my father's first wife. Is there more than one cemetery in Humphrey? To what address do any cemeteries there receive mail or e-mail? Has anyone walked the cemeteries there? Thank you.
