Robert L. Wagar, 62, who lived here 15 years and was a file clerk for Maricopa County Health Department, died March 11, 1980, in Maricopa County Hospital. Mr. Wagar is survived by a brother and a sister. Cremation arranged at Arizona Funeral Home. 3/15/1980.

WAGNER, Lorraine M.

29 Nov 1917 - 12 Mar 1980
Lorraine M. Wagner, 62, who had been a student counselor at Carl Hayden and Alhambra High Schools, died March 12, 1980. She served as a Navy lieutenant in World War II and had been a services representative two years for Mountain Bell after coming her in 1950 from Milwaukee. Survivors include her sister, Marcella Ryan. Mass was in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central. 3/15/1980.

WALKER, Joseph

WALLACE, Charles U.

Mesa -- Charles U. Wallace, 71, who retired from the Army in 1967 as a chief warrant officer, died March 27, 1980. Mr. Wallace worked in security for International Harverter Corp and was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Eagles. He came to Arizona in 1969 from Ohio. Surviving are his wife, Betty J.; children, Dorothea L. Stanford, Charles, Jr., and Frank A.; two brothers; nine grandchildren. Services were in Springfield, Ohio. 3/29/1980.

WALLACE, Lucille V.

Mesa -- Lucille V. Wallace, 70, who was a member of Esther Circle at Shepherd of the Desert United Church of Christ and the Radio Information Service for the Blind and Handicapped, died Jan. 22, 1980, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Surviving are her children, Patricia Hanemann, Thomas B. and Col. Robert J. Wallace, and five granadsons. 1/25/1980.

WALLER, John P.

John P. Waller, 54, an ironwork welder who came here 41 years ago from his native Missouri, died Oct. 12, 1980. Survived by daughter, Becky Jean Waller; sister, Mrs. Frederick May; brothers, George and William, all of Phoenix. Graveside services Wednesday at Resthaven Park. Hansen Mortuary. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1980.

WALLIS, Brad

Services for Brad Wallis, 22, a carpenter who died of auto accident injuries Oct. 5, 1980, in St. Joseph's Hospital, were in Paradise Chapel, 3934 E. Indian School. Mr. Wallis, 4311 E. Sells Drive, came here in 1965 from Canada. He was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and as a student played in the bands at Kachina Elementary and Arcadia High Schools. Surviving are his father, Raymond, and a sister, Javette Wallis. Family prefer memorials to the Arcadia High. Interment Greenwood. The Arizona Republic Wednesday, October 8, 1980.

WALTMAN, Mae Cora

Mae Cora Waltman, 86, a Minnesota native who lived here eight years, died March 29, 1980, in her home. Mrs. Waltman is survived by a daughter, Maxine Sommerfield; a sister, Stella Hartley, Mankato, MN; three grandchildren. Rosary at Mercer Mortuary. Mass at St. Agnes Church, 1954 N. 24th St. Interment St. Francis. 3/30/1980.


WAMSLEY, Earl

Mesa -- Earl Wamsley, a coal miner from Utah who lived in Arizona 22 years, died Jan. 25, 1980. Survivors include his wife, Harriet; sons, Warnell and Bryce; three sisters; three brothers and three grandchildren. Services were at the 10th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 1/28/1980.

WAMSLEY, Harriet

Harriet Wamsley, 83, who lived in Phoenix until her husband, Earl, died here in January, died Oct. 10, 1980, in Bountiful, Utah. Husband, Earl, died in January. Sons, Bryce and Warnell; three grandchildren; two sisters; and five brothers. Graveside services were in Pima Cemetery near Safford. 10/15/1980.

WARCHOT, Paul Joseph

Scottsdale -- Mass for Paul Joseph Warchot, 46, who was a City of Scottsdale policeman 17 years until becoming ill, will be Saturday in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 6261 N. Granite Reef. Mr. Warchot, 8613 E. McDonald, came here in 1963 from his native Denver and died Oct. 8, 1980, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and served in the Army from 1954-1957. Surviving are his wife, Marion; children, Lisa, Michael, David, Rick and Kevin; mother, Margaret Warchot, and two sisters. Messinger Mortuary made arrangements. WARD, David Henry

Tempe -- David Henry Ward, 61, who had been a driver for Arizona Bus Lines the past 18years, died Jan. 23, 1980, in Tempe Community Hospital. He drove for the Greyhound Bus Lines 10 years before moving to Tempe from Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Maxine; children, Kathy C. Bunger, Joan Moery, Charles Beveridge and Carl Alan Ward; and eight grandchildren. 1/26/1980.

WATERMAN, Lois

Scottsdale -- Memorial services for Lois Waterman, 67, who died Oct. 6, 1980, in a Phoenix hospital, were in St. Francis Cemetery, 4800 E. Oak, Botimer Mortuary announced. Mrs. Waterman, 8237 E. Sage, moved to Scottsdale in 1964 from California. She is survived by a son, Alan Nighswonger, and two grandchildren. The Arizona Republic Thursday, October 9, 1980.

WAY, Edward George

Edward George Way, 48, who retired as a field engineer after 25 years with the Kentron Co. in Phoenix, died Sept. 29, 1980, on a visit to Casa Grande. Mr. Way, 3430 E. Fairmount, had been committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 340. He came here in 1955 from his native New Jersey. Rosary will be today in Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Chapel, 4800 E. Indian School. Mass was in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 24th St. and Campbell. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Denise and Daniel of Phoenix; parents, Arthur and Margaret Way of New Jersey; a brother, Arthur Way of New Jersey; and three sisters, Greta Perry of Maine, Mary Faustini and Margaret Morgan of New Jersey. Interment St. Francis Cemetery. The Arizona Republic Wednesday, October 1, 1980.

Peoria -- Walter W. Weedman, 51, a greenskeeper for Hillcrest Golf Course, died Jan. 22, 1980, in Boswell Hospital. He came to Arizona 34 years ago from Missouri. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Surprise. Surviving are his wi8fe, Lucille; sons, Walter, Jr., and Larry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Weedman; four grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers. 1/25/1980.

Sun City -- Myrtle E. Weeks, 89, who moved here in 1977 from Oklahoma, died Jan. 26, 1980, in her home. She is survived by her daughter, Luceille Mestrezat; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 1/30/1980.

WEINBERG, Louis A.

Scottsdale -- Louis A. Weinberg, 75, who practiced law in Cleveland before accepting a teaching post at Northwestern University and then the University of Alaska, died March 11, 1980, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Mr. Weinberg, 7549 E. Moreland, lived here 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Emilie, and a son, Sydney. Cremation was arranged at Messinger Mortuary. The Arizona Republic 3/15/1980, p. B8

WEINMANN, E. S. John

E. S. John Weinmann, 63, a retired industrial engineer for Motorola, Inc., and owner of John's Jewelry-Clocks in Scottsdale until June, died Oct. 3, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Weinmann, of Phoenix, came to the Valley in 1952 from Ohio. He served in the Army in World War II and later was in the Kwajalein atomic bomb project. Earlier in his career he was a navigator of a Goodyear blimp. He was co-founder of the International Key Winders Association (KAWCE), was a meber of Masonic Lodge 697, El Zaribah Shrine, Elks Lodge 335 and North Phoenix Lions Club. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Stanley W. Sauer, and stepdaughter, Mrs. Ray Pedersen. Cremation was arranged by A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. The Arizona Republic Saturday, Oct. 11, 1980.

WELCH, Arthur L.

Globe -- Arthur L. Welch, 63, manager of the F. W. Woolworth store here, died March 10, 1980, in his home. Mr. Welch, who was born in Akron, Ohio, lived in Globe 25 years. He was a past president of the Lions Club and was its secretary 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Joan; . . . Charles; a daughter, Shae Ollson; his mother, Mrs. Lottie Champlin, and three grandchildren. Services Friday in the Miami Presbyterian Church. Miles Mortuary handled the arrangements. WELCH, Blanche A.

Blanche A. Welch, 88, a member of Eastern Star and Social Order of Beaucant, died March 14, 1980, in Bell's Lodge Nursing Home. Mrs. Welch came here in 1965 from her native Ohio. She was a homemaker and is survived by her daughter, Mary Evelyn Ennor. Graveside services were at Greenwood Memorial Park. 3/17/1980.

WELLS, Lucy Buckner

Lucy Buckner Wells, 87, a former program director for the Phoenix YWCA, died March 26, 1980, in Kivel Nursing Home. She came to Phoenix 40 years ago from Aubuquerque. Miss Wells was graduated from the University of Chicago and was a student of Dr. James H. Breasted, a noted archeologist and Egyptologist. She was on the staff of the university's field school at Luxor, Egypt, during the excavation of King Tut's Tomb. Cremation. Memorial services were in Unitarian Universalist Church.

WELSH, Dr. Jane M.

Dr. Jane M. Welsh, 46, who headed the Career Center at Mesa Community College, died March 13, 1980. Dr. Welsh was recognized locally and nationally for her work with women in careers. She was a member of the National Association of Women Deans and Counselors and the American Personal Guidance Association. She earned bachelor's, Master's and doctor's degrees at Arizona State University. She came here 17 years ago. Survivors include her daughters, Kristy and Kathy Welsh; mother, Jean Mueller, and a sister. A memorial scholarship fund was established in her name at the MCC Career Center. Whiteney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home. Mass was in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a lector and a member of the Sodality. 3/14/1980.

WERKMEISTER, Randy E.

Paradise Valley -- Randy E. Werkmeister, 18, died of an illness March 24, 1980. He was born in Phoenix and attended Scottsdale schools and was a senior at Chaparral High School. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Werkmeister; two sisters; and two grandparents. Services were in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3110 N. Hayden, where he was an acolyte and Teens for Christ member. 3/25/1980.
