George Stanley Wade, 61, owner of Western Claims Service since 1961, died Sun., May 7, 1967, while visiting in Prescott. He was a member of Elks Lodge 335. He was born in Canada and moved to Phoenix in 1955 from San Francisco. Survivors include his wife, Anita; and a brother, Gordon L., of Sherman Oaks, CA. Cremation. 5/9/1967.

WADICK, Howard B.

Funeral services were in A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams, for Howard B. Wadick, 66, of 2310 E. Harvard. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Ira Wagman, 75, a barber who retired here five years ago, died Monday, May 8, 1967, in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born in Poland and moved to Phoenix six years ago from Detroit. WALCH, Wilbert H.

Wilbert H. Walch, 55, of 2307 E. Glenrosa, an x-ray technician for Phoenix Orthopedic Clinic, died Saturday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Walch was a 14-year resident of Phoenix. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of the Phoenix Power Squadron, a boating club. Funeral services were held in Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Dorothy Waldrep, 45, who had been a secretary 10 years at Alhambra School before retiring in 1966, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1967, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Waldrep was a member of the Wesleyan Guild at Asbury Methodist Church. Born in Fredonia, Kansas, she came to Casa Grande 22 years ago and resided there three years before moving to Phoenix. WALKER, Mack C.

Mack C. Walker, 77, who came here in 1915, died Thurs., Aug. 31, 1967, in Chandler Community Hospital. He had been a farm worker. He was born in Woodland, Mississippi, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Mamie GREGG of Tempe, Mrs. Etta E. FRYE of Chandler and Mrs. Sallie BAKER of Morrow Bay, California; two brothers, Johnnie WALKER of Phoenix and Mitchell WALKER of Portland, Oregon. WALLACE, Tom, Sr.

Pasadena, CA Tom Wallace, Sr., pioneer in radio nationally, died May 8, 1967, in California where he had been a resident for two months. He was a native of Bisbee, AZ, and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1922. He entered the radio business as early as 1918 when he sang on the first station in San Diego while serving in the Navy. In 1949, Mr. Wallace and the late Tom Brenneman received federal authorization for Radio station KTKT in Tucson, and Mr. Wallace came to Tucson to take over the operation in 1951. Survivors include his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Richard Finley, both of California; and two sons, George Wallace and Tom Wallace, Jr., both of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Pickrell and Mrs. Dorothea Mahan, both of Tucson. 9 May 1967.

WALSH, James M.

Kearny -- Dr. James M. Walsh, 81, a physician who joined the staff of the United Verde Copper Co. in 1918 at Jerome, died Sept. 21, 1967, in a Tempe hospital. After he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1908, he served briefly with the Wolverine and Mohawk Mining Co. before coming to Jerome. He left Jerome in 1933 for three years at Boron, CA, with Pacific Borax Co. He returned to Jerome until 1942 when he left to head the medical department of the U.S. Smelting and Refining Co. in Midvale, UT. Dr. Walsh helped open Marcus J. Lawrence Memorial Hospital at Cottonwood in 1945 and served four years as Pima Co Medical Officer. He was born in Prescott, Ontario. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, John of Jerome; daughters, Mrs. Helen MEALICK and Mrs. Harriet ARMER, both of San Jose, Calif.; a brother and a sister out of state; and nine grandchildren. Sedona -- Mrs. Thelma L. Walsh, 65, died in her home on Brewer Road here early Saturday morning, April 29, 1967, after a long illness. Funeral services tomorrow in the Sedona Home for Funerals. Burial in Sedona Memorial Park. Mrs. Walsh was born in Perry County, Missouri. She and her husband moved to Sedona in 1958 from Montecito, Calif. They owned and operated Hidden Treasures Antique Shop here. Mary Ida Washburn, 62, a telephone receptionist the past 12 years for the Phoenix school system, died Sunday, May 14, 1967, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident. WATERHOUSE, Charles Ray

Tolleson -- Services for Charles Ray Waterhouse, 72, who died in his home Sunday, August 6, 1967, were held at Cannon Funeral Home in Goodyear. Mr. Waterhouse was born in Essex, Connecticut, and was a veteran of World War II. His only known survivor is a daughter, Mrs. Madeline Barton, of Old Lyme, Connecticut. WATERMAN, James W.

Scottsdale -- James W. Waterman, 49, owner of the Desert Star Cocktail Lounge, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1967, of a heart attack en route to Scottsdale Baptist Hospital Mr. Waterman, 3231 N. 63rd Place, had been employed by the Santa Fe after moving here in 1942 from Milwaukee. After leaving the railroad ten years ago he operated the restaurant at Thunderbird Bowling Lanes. He owned the cocktail lounge the past two years. He was born in South Dakota. WATKINS, Emma

Emma Watkins, 78, who came to Douglas in 1906 from Texas, died at Beatitudes Rest Home Tues., May 2, 1967. Mrs. Watkins was the widow of L. H. Watkins who had been in the mining equipment business in southern Arizona. They had resided in Douglas, Nogales, and Carlsbad, NM. He died in 1954. Mrs. Watkins was born in California. Weber Rites To Be Held In Illinois

William Weber, 72, art advertising director 45 years for the Cudahy Co. in Chicago before retiring to Phoenix in 1962, died Tuesday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Weber, 3401 E. Onyx, attended the Naval Academy at Annapolis and served as an ensign aboard the battleship New Hampshire in World War I. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. He was born in Portland, Oregon. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, a daughter, Mrs. Paul J. Graveside rites for Mrs. Mary Whitman, 34, who died of cancer Sunday, Aug. 27, 1967, in Phoenix Indian Hospital, will be at 9 a.m. today in the San Tan cemetery on the Gila River Indian Reservation. Mrs. Whitman, 1705 W. Latham, was born on the reservation and had resided most of her life in Phoenix. Survivors include her husband, Milford; a daughter, Caroldean White; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Caroldine Ortiz and Mrs. Betty Saucedo, all of Phoenix; a stepson, Leiland Whitman of Wisconsin; her mother, Mrs. Lula Antone; and three brothers, Billman, Raymond and Sylvester White, all of the reservation. WHITMER, Mrs. Jennie

Safford -- Services for Mrs. Jennie Whitmer, 83, who died Sunday, April 30, 1967, in Mountain View Nursing Home, will be Thursday at the Safford Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in Pima Cemetery. Mrs. Whitner was a native of Pima. She had lived in Alpine more than 30 years before she moved to Safford 20 years ago. She was a past president of the Primary and Relief Society of the LDS Church. Sonia P. Wiggains, 53, who lived in Phoenix eight years, died Tues., Aug. 1, 1967, in a local hospital. Mrs. Wiggains, 8641 N. 8th St., was born in Dombey, OK. Mrs. Ched Millett Williams (Chearizade Bernice Williams), 75, died May 14, 1967, in her home. She was a native of Mesa and was a practical nurse at Mesa Southside Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by a son, Dean, of Lynnfield, MS; a sister, Mrs. Neoma Brimhall, with whom she resided in Phoenix; a brother, George F. Services for Estelle Williams, 87, of 1830 E. Roosevelt, who died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1967, at a local hospital, were at the First Institutional Baptist Church, 1147 E. Jefferson. WILLIAMS, Ernest F.

Hayden -- Services for Ernest F. Williams, 60, who died Monday, May 1, 1967, in Tucson Medical Center, were at Griffith Mortuary in Winkelman. Graveside service conducted by the Odd Fellows at South Lawn Memorial Park, Tucson. Mr. Williams was born in Eire, Pennsylvania, and came to Arizona in 1945. He had been employed as a foreman of maintenance at Kennecott Copper Co. In 1959 Mr. Williams established the Williams Chevrolet dealership and garage in Hayden. He was a member of the Hayden Winkelman Chamber of Commerce and past noble grand of Gila Valley Lodge 19 of the Odd Fellows. He is survived by his wife, Ilene; a daughter, Margaret Joyce Williams of Flagstaff; two sons, Ernest, Jr. of Tucson and Thomas Allen of Kearny; one step-daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Steininger of Hayden; two stepsons, Willard Lamphere of Kearny; and Larry Lamphere of Flagstaff; two sisters and two brothers out of state; and two grandchildren. Bagdad -- Locke R. Williams, 29, a miner, died Wednesday, August 9, 1967, of injuries sustained in a truck accident at the Bagdad Copper Co. Mine. Mr. Williams who served four years in the Navy, was president of the Little League here and a member of the local Lions Club. Services were at Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott. Mrs. Pearl E. Williams, 87, former owner of the Williams Drug Store at 18th Avenue and Van Buren, died Monday, May 1, 1967, in Bell's Lodge. Mrs. Williams, 926 E. Vermont, was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Parker in 1930 from Billings, Montana. She moved to Phoenix in 1938 and operated the drugstore until 1946. WILSON, Mary Carmon

Mary Carmon Wilson, 56, director of nurses since 1957 for the Maricopa County Health Department, died of cancer August 29, 1967, in her home, 140 W. Elwood. In 1953 Miss Wilson was given Maricopa County's employ honor award by the Board of Supervisors for outstanding service. She joined the department in 1948 as a staff nurse and became supervising nurse in 1951. Miss Wilson was a member of the health advisory board of the Phoenix Community Council, a consultant for the Visiting Nurse Service, member of American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, American Public Health Association and Temple Beth Israel. She was graduated from the school of nursing at Henrotin Hospital in Chicago, got her degree in public health nursing at Loyola University in Chicago and received her masters in public health at the University of Michigan. Miss Wilson, a native of Morris, Illinois, is survived by her mother, Mrs. Marletta Wilson of Phoenix. Cremation has taken place, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary announced. WINTON, Grover Cleveland

Grover Cleveland Winton, 82, was born in Hillsboro, Tennessee, and died Sun., July 30, 1967, in Phoenix General Hospital. Mr. Winton moved to Arizona 42 years ago from Moberly, MO, and owned and operated the G.C. Winton Construction Co. from 1925 to 1964 when he retired. He served three terms as trustee of Montezuma Masonic Lodge No. 35 and was voted a life member of that organization in 1959. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1963. Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae; a son, Ralph, of Phx; daughter, Mrs. Irene MANN of Richmond, CA; a brother, Elmer Winton of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren and 14 gr-grandchildren. Casa Grande -- Services for Fred P. Wiseman, 82, who died Sunday, Aug. 13, 1967, as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a train, will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Casa Grande Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graveside services will be conducted at Mountain View Cemetery by the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Wiseman was born in Manning, Iowa, and came to Arizona 31 years ago. He was a retired butcher who came here in 1958 from his native Chicago. He also was a senior vice commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8015 and an Army veteran of World War I. Elbert B. Wood, 75, a retired barber, died Wednesday, August 9, 1967, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He worked at the San Carlos Barber Shop and at Steele's Barber Shop in Phoenix. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the American Legion, the Barber's Union and the Menonite Bretheren Church.
