Jose Luis Mada, 19, died Jan. 21, 1980, in his home. He was an employee of Plants Nursery. Survived by parents, Rafael and Maria Mada; seven brothers; three sisters; and two grandmothers. Services were in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Guadalupe. 1/25/1980.

MAGEE, William B.

William B. Magee, 58, a real estate broker who operated Bill Magee Realty Co., died March 27, 1980. Mr. Magee was a World War II Army veteran and came to Arizona 31 years ago from Omaha, Nebraska. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Michelle Allee; and a brother, Donald Magee. Interment Resthaven Park. 3/28/1980.

MALCOFF, Goldie

Goldie Malcoff, 80, died Jan. 24, 1980. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel, City of Hope and Hadassah. Mrs. Malcoff was born in Russia and came to Arizona 50 years ago from Minnesota. Children, Ida Felmann and Solle Malcoff; a sister; five grandchildren. Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery. 26 January 1980.

MALDONADO, Antonio M.

18 April 1890 - 30 Sept 1980
Antonio M. Maldonado, 90, who was a member of the Arizona Pioneers Association and Carpenters Local 1089, died Sept. 30, 1980, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Maldonado was born in Tucson and came to Phoenix in 1910. Survived by children, Alice Culling, Alfred, Tony, Albert and Arnold; and 28 grandchildren. MALTBY, William T.

Peoria -- William T. Maltby, 58, a bartender, who came here nine months ago from Montana, died Sept. 27, 1980, in Boswell Hospital. Mr. Maltby was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Elks. Surviving are sons, W. Terry, Mark and Greg; and two brothers. Green Acres Mortuary of Glendale. MARDIROSIAN, Martin

2 Feb 1915 - 25 Mar 1980
Martin Mardirosian, 65, retired March 1 as an aeronautical engineer for Goodyear Aerospace and died March 25, 1980. Mr. Mardirosian came to Phoenix in 1951 from California and was a member of the National SOciety of Aeronautical Engineers, the Masons in Akron, Ohio, and the Shrine Grott. Surviving are his wife, Isabel; daughter, Isabel Maxwell; a sister and three grandchildren. Serivces were in First Presbyterian Church, 402 W. Monroe. 3/27/1980.

MARSHALL, Burton

Burton E. Marshall, 83, a retired Iowa farmer who came here in 1964 from Sperry, Iowa, died March 25, 1980. He is survived by his wife, Luella; daughter, Joyce Shute; a brother and two sisters. Services in Mediapolis, Iowa. 3/27/1980.

MARSHALL, Eileen Kyle

Paradise Valley -- Eileen Kyle Marshall, 72, who came to the Valley 20 years ago, died March 5, 1980. Mrs. Marshall is survived by a brother, Richard E. Kyle. 3/15/1980.

MARTIN, James "Archie"

Winkelman -- James "Archie" Martin, 63, of Winkleman, was born in Mesa and died Sept. 29, 1980, in Kennecott Hospital at Kearny. He had been a diesel mechanic for Kennecott Minerals. He was a WWII Navy veteran and member of the Chandler American Legion Post, Moose Lodge and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; children Claudia Schultz and Charles; mother, Harriet "Alice" Thomas; six grandchildren. Interment East Resthaven, Tempe, Arizona. The Arizona Republic Thursday, October 2, 1980.

MARTIN, John S.

Sun City -- John S. Martin, 76, a former finance company owner and past president of Cincinnati Small Loan Exchange before retiring here in 1962, died Jan. 21, 1980. He was a member of United Church of Sun City. Survived by wife, Verda; sons, William and John; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. 24 January 1980.

MARTIN, Omer A.

Omer A. Martin, 67, a timekeeper for a New Hampshire hotel before coming here 11 years ago, died Oct. 3, 1980, in a local hospital. Mr. Martin was born in Canada. Survived by children, Jacqueline, Lucie Dumont, Andre Boulanger; a sister; two brothers and three grandchildren. Wake services were at Mercer Mortuary. Mass was at St. Agnes Church, 1954 N. 24th St. Monday, Oct. 6, 1980.

MARTIN, Ruth E.

Sun City West -- Ruth E. Martin, 86, who retired as a bookkeeper and secretary in her native Kansas City, MO, moved here in 1960 and died March 22, 1980, in Good Shepherd Retirement Center. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Cherry Hills Chicks, Golden Age and Pioneer clubs and the United Church of Sun City. She is survived by her husband, Ernest; daughters, Ellen A. Harvey and Dorothy Woodley. 3/24/1980.


MASON, Charles W.

Charles W. Mason, 79, a World War I veteran and retired printer who worked for Eastman Kodak Corp. died March 25, 1980. Mr. Mason moved here in 1967 from Illinois. MASON, Edward, Sr.

Edward Mason, 75, who was born in Phoenix and had been a landscape gardener for the Arizona Biltmore Hotel and the Phoenix Country Club, died Sept. 29, 1980, in his home. Survived by children, Carmen Roman, Stella Lechuga, Connie Kramer, Edward, Jr., and Manuel. Mass was in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 17th St. and Tonto. Burial St. Francis. Oct 2, 1980.

MASON, Eva N.

MASON, J. Clark

Mesa -- J. Clark Mason, 66, who retired as manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Kalispell, Montana, and lived here 11 years, died March 29, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Mason, 2318 Gayridge Road, is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Gene; a sister; a brother; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services and burial were in Kalispell. MATHIS, Thelma

Services for Thelma Mathis, 64, who came here in 1951 from her native Gloucester City, N.J., and died Oct. 8, 1980, in Phoenix General Hospital, were in Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 330 N. Second Ave. Mrs. Mathis, 12409 N. 29th Ave., is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Barbara Humphrey, Edward, Jr., and John; a brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. MATTHEWS, William M.

Sun City -- William M. Matthews, 76, was born in Dubois, PA, died Jan. 25, 1980, in Sun Valley Lodge Nursing Home. He was a supervisor 38 years for Pittsburgh Plate and Glass and came here in 1970 from California. Wife, Wilhelmine; sons, William and Mark; and four grandchildren. Cashion -- Dorothy J. Mayne, 57, died March 14, 1980. Mrs. Mayne came to Phoenix in 1951 from Falls City, Nebraska, where she was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, "Bob" Mayne; sons, Roger W. Heiser, US Navy, and Robert J. Heiser, Phoenix; mother, Lillian Weber, Falls City, NE; a brother, Robert Weber, Staten Island, NY; and two grandchildren. Interment Greenwood. 3/17/1980.

McADAMS, Charlotte M. Hargraves

Charlotte M. Hargraves McAdams, 76, who had been an employee at Phoenix Veterans Hospital, died Jan. 17, 1980. She moved here 37 years ago from Texas. Survivors include children Dorothy M. Hargraves, Larry and Edward Hargraves; a sister; seven grandchildren. Services were in St. Johns Institutional Baptist Church. 1/25/1980.

McCANDLESS, Calvin S.

Calvin S. McCandless, 80, who lived in the Valley 11 years, died March 15, 1980. He had been a farmer and was a member of Mountain View Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by nieces and nephews. East Resthaven Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern. 3/17/1980.

McCARTER, Harriet I.

Mesa -- Harriet I. McCarter, 74, who retired in 1970 from the University of Arizona Experimental Farm, died Oct. 10, 1980. In 1978, Mrs. McCarter published the book, Doctor on Horseback, written by her late father, Dr. Ralph Palmer. He was the government appointed physician in Roosevelt while Roosevelt Dam was being built. Mrs. McCarter was born in Roosevelt and brought to Mesa as an infant. She graduated from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and studied at the Paris Music Conservatory in France. She was an organist at St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Gibbons-Bunker Mortuary for many years. She founded the Mesa Welcome Wagon service in 1948 and was a founder of the Mesa Museum Gild and Historical and Archeological Society. Survivors include her daughter, Jan Paulson; a sister; and three grandchildren. Monday, Oct. 13, 1980.

McCLENAHAN, Everette S.

Services for Everette S. McClenahan, 58, who had been a school bus driver before he became ill, were in Arizona Funeral Home, 376 N. Third Ave. Mr. McClenahan, 1034 W. Polk, was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved here in 1976 from Nebraska. McELDERRY, Harry E.

Harry E. McElderry, 67, died Sept. 30, 1980, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He came here in 1970 from his native Montana where he had been a hospital orderly. Wife, Lorraine; children, Cheryl Ayotte, Mary Wright, Virginia and Harry, Jr.; stepsons, Wayne and James Erwin; 15 grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. Winslow -- Henry F. McFarland, 65, died March 15, 1980, at his home. Mr. McFarland was a New Mexico native and moved to Winslow in 1922. He was a coyboy and custodian. Sun City -- William G. McFarland, 70, who had retired as chief accountant after 48 years with Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Co., died March 27, 1980. He was a member of Oakmont Men's Club after moving here in 1974. He was a life member of the Denver Bowling Association. Wife, Lorella; children, Barbara Reiter and Donald; five grandchildren. McKEE, Kenneth M.

Holbrook -- Kenneth M. McKee, 61, who came here 19 years ago from New Mexico and was a teacher for the Holbrook School System, died Jan. 23, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix. He was a native of Wathall, Mississippi, and graduated from Mississippi State University. He received his masters degree from Northern Arizona University. He was an Army paratrooper during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Wife, Maxine; children, Debbie Palmer, Teri and Kenny; mother, Zena Clark; a sister and a brother. Services were at the Holbrook High School Mike Starr Gymnasium. 1/27/1980.

McKEMY, Marge

Marge McKemy, 77, who had been a secretary 26 years at Arizona State University before retiring in 1972, died March 11, 1980. Mrs. McKemy was administrative secretary 16 years for the late Clyde Smith who was athletic director. She also served many years as scholarship and financial secretary. She was a past president of the Arizona Federation of Business and Professional Women's CLub. Mrs. McKemy was a 35-year member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and had held state and national offices in the organization which is an international philanthropic project to aid the handicapped. She was a member of the Tempe Women's Club and came here from Cincinnati in 1939. Her late husband, Harvey McKemy, was superintendent of the Tempe Elementary School DIstrict 28 years. She is survived by a sister, Marie Doyen. Services in Green Acres Chapel, 401 N. Hayden, Scottsdale. 3/14/1980.

McKINNEY, Paul

Glendale -- Graveside services for Paul McKinney, 71, will be today in Resthaven Park, 6290 W. Northern. Mr. McKinney, 6301 N. 64th Drive, died Oct. 6, 1980, in a Phoenix hospital. A native of Atlanta, he came here in 1970 from Massachusetts and had been a paper mill engineer. Survived by wife, Effie, of Glendale; daughters, Carol Terreault, Sharon Longo and Patricia Zemis, all of Phoenix; sons, Vaughn and James of Phoenix and Paul, Jr. of Massachusetts; 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Graveside services Thursday at Resthaven Park. Memorial service Sunday, Maryvale Terrace Baptist Church, 5612 N. 65th Ave. Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary.
