Scottsdale -- Gary Ray Fahrenbruch, 37, a Scottsdale police officer, died Sept. 30, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a native of Salt Lake City and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was with the Missouri Highway Patrol 13 years before coming here a year ago. Wife, Gail; children, Tracy, Kelly and Gary; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fahrenbruck; and a sister. Raymond L. Faisst, 62, who had been associated with Canstest Realty Co., died March 12, 1980. He moved here in 1977 from Arkansas. Mr. Faisst was graduated from St. Louis University in Missouri and was a 32nd degree Mason, ruling elder at Valley Presbyterian Church and organizational committee chairman of Mountain View Presbyterian Church. He was second vice president of Scottsdale Hiram Club and a member of Aloha Shrine in Honolulu and Arizona Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Carole; a sister, Mrs. E. San Carlos -- Julia S. Faras, 74, who operated a carry-out Mexican food cafe 45 years on the San Carlos Reservation, died March 28, 1980, in her home. She was born in Douglas and moved to San Carlos in 1928 and was a member of the Slaughter Mountain Livvestock Association. Survivors include her children, Margaret and Tom; a sister; four brothers; three grandchildren. Mass was in San Carlos Catholic Church. 3/31/1980.

Edith M. Farber, 85, who had been a member of Goodwill Industries Auxiliary and a volunteer for Samuel Gompers Memorial Rehabilitation Center, died March 26, 1980, in her home. Mrs. Farber moved here in 1968 from New York. She is survived by her sons, John F. and Henry C.; a brother, Henry C. Binder; 11 grandchildren. Sun City -- Services for Nina Ferguson, 86, who lived here since 1960 and was a charter member of the United Church of Sun City, were Friday in Sun Valley Lodge Chapel, 12415 N. 103rd Ave. Mrs. Ferguson died Oct. 7, 1980, in the lodge. She was a past matron of the Eastern Star in Valier, Montana. Victoria S. Figueroa, 81, who lived in Arizona 60 years, died Oct. 11, 1980, in the home of a Phoenix granddaughter. Sun City -- Gordon R. Fisher, 85, who was head track coach at Indiana University 1944 to 1961, died Oct. 8, 1980, in Beverly Manor Nursing Home. After coming to Tucson in 1965, he refereed home track meets at the U of A. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and received a master's degree in education at New York University. Dr. John P. Flanders, 73, who was on the staff of Arizona State Hosital eight years until retiring in 1978, died Oct. 11, 1980. He practiced medicine 38years in Monroe, Michigan, before coming here in 1970. He was a member of the deaconate board of the First Congregational Church of Phoenix and a former Shriner in Detroit. He graduated from Albion College in Michigan, received his degree from Loyola University in Chicago and served as a flight surgeon in World War II. Wife, Viva; children, Patricia Payne, Janis Migyanka and Gerald; a brother; and eight grandchildren. 10/14/1980.

FLYNN, John J.

John J. Flynn, 55, of Gilbert, a Phoenix attorney who became widely known for his success in defending persons charged with serious crimes, died Jan. 26, 1980, in Flagstaff. He gained national attention in 1966 when he successfully argued the landmark Miranda case before the U.S.Supreme Court where it was ruled that a person charged with crimes had a right to remain silent and to seek counsel. Survivors include his wife, Kathy G.; children, Patricia Guy, Kathryn Kies, Mary, Justin, Sean, Jacob, John, Michael and Terry Flynn. 1/30/1980.

Scottsdale -- Asela Hernandez Foster, 60, who was executive housekeeper for La Posada Resort Hotel and a member of the board of the Cuban American Club, died Oct. 8, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Foster had been an accountant the past four years for Maricopa County Superior Court and before that for the state of Wisconsin 13 years. He graduated from Madison Business College, Madison WI, and was a World War II veteran and a member of St. Jerome's Cathoic Church and Knights of Columbus. Max F. Fountain, 84, who retired in 1955 as an office manager for Nelson Electric and had also been a manager for the B.E. Tade Co., died Oct. 3, 1980, in Veterans Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War I and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Grace Methodist Church. He was born in Merna, Nebraska, and came here in 1931 from Nebraska. FRANKLIN, Carl Leroy

Carl Leroy Franklin, 60, of Flagstaff, who was a member of Operating Engineers Local 428, died Oct. 8, 1980, at his home. He was born in Young and lived in Phoenix after taking a disability retirement in 1975. He moved to Flagstaff 18 months ago. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. FREDERICK, Martin J.

Martin J. Frederick, 59, died Jan. 29, 1980. He was a heavy equipment operator with AZ Public Service Co. 20 years after moving here in 1956 from St. Louis, MO. Mr. Frederick was awarded the Purple Heart during World War II action in the Southwest Pacific. He was a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars District 4 and VFW Post 9400 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Jessie; daughter, Marsh M.
