FISHER, NORMAN -
I am trying to find out whom my gr-gr-gr-gr-grandparents were. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather was Joseph
Norman who was born in VA Jan 15, 1802. Joseph died Jul 26, 1868 in Indiana. I do not know
if he had any siblings or not or a middle name either. He and his family moved to Ohio at some
point and he married Susannah Fisher (b Feb 11, 1815 in Perry County, OH). They remained
there long enough to have at least one child born there (Thomas B Norman b Jul 15, 1844).
They also had 3 more children one of whom I believe was born in Ohio also and the other two in
Indiana. Their names were Daniel, Amanda, and Sarah. They all died in Indiana. Thank you for your
time and help!

I am searching for grave/cemetery information on Mary Catherine (Masters) Bird,
wife of Oscar Adam Bird. She was born in 1857 in Doe Hill/Monterey, VA and is listed as
dying in Winchester.
It is believed she was living with her daughter Martha (Bird) Babb, who along with
her husband Clem operated a
rest home along the main highway. Ifanyone knows where I can locate info on the rest home it
would be appreciated. I understand it was demolished in the 60's to make room for a nursing
home.
Any help is appreciated.

CURRY -
I am looking for any information regarding my great-great-great grandfather, John Curry.
He had a son Hiram Curry who I have traced him through. Hiram lived in Illinois. I found
records for the family through the United State Census of 1850 that places John in Mifflin,
Allegheny, Pennsylvania and states that he was born in Virginia around 1805. Probably like a
lot of men of his time, he was a farmer. He was married to a woman from PA named Jane. That's
about all I have. I know this is probably a stretch, but if anyone has a starting point for me
to search I would be obliged.

ELLIOTT, FURROW, JONES, SHEPPARD -
My father Howard Lee Jones was the son of Maude Mae
Jones. My dad was raised by a single parent, his mother.
Unfortunately his father was never a part of his life. His name was Jessie
Black Elliott. All of Montgomery Co. in Virginia and raised
in the Price's Fork/Blacksburg area. He was born Sept. 7th, 1911 and died January, 2001. He
Married my mother Helen Gertrude Sheppard Sept. 5th , 1946. She died Feburary, 2002. I
know that my father talked about his Aunt Laura, Uncle Frank, Uncle Edward, and several others
of whom I never personally met.
My grandmother married Grover C. Furrow and moved to Sabine West Virgina and they are
both buried near Beckley. She died in March or April of 1965.
I'm trying to find out if there's a link between my father's line and Tebes Jones (and Laura
Bell).
Thank you in advance and I really appreciate your time.

in the area that is now West Virginia. His parents were likely John and

BEVERLEY, BEVERLY, THORNHILL, WOODROOF, WOODRUFFE -
Looking for anyone with information that would help me link my Kentucky BEVERLY line to
Virginia Beverlys. To the best of my knowledge, there is no direct linkage of my line to
the Robert BEVERLEY line of Beverly Manor, nor can I find any linkage to the
BEVERLY line who went to NC, or the infamous John Beverly of the battle of Kings
Mountain. My earliest proven ancestor is Stephen Beverly, b. 1781-2 in Virginia, was in
Montgomery County, KY in 1799 & 1800, then married a Lucy THORNHILL went to Harrison
County, KY, ending up in Grant County, KY where he lived until his death in 1852. I have good
reason to believe his mother was named Naomi ?, and his father possibly a John Beverly who
lived in Lincoln County, KY and died ca 1795-6. Naomi married second in 1800 in Montgomery
County, KY to a David Woodroof/ Woodruffe. I am looking for any Beverly/
Beverley, perhaps a John Beverly who married a Naomi, in Virginia. Marriage was
probably ca 1775-1780. There is a John Beverly in Hampshire County, VA (now WVa) on the
1782 and 1784 Tax Lists w/ five free whites and no slaves in his household. I have long suspected
he may be the John who came to Lincoln County as did other pioneers of Hampshire and Hardy
Counties, but I've found nothing to connect these two. So, I'm asking if anyone has anything that
might refer to a John Beverly/Beverley (or any Beverly) marrying someone named
Naomi, when it took place, and what county in Virginia they lived. Also, anyone who may know what
happened to the John Beverly/Beverley in Hampshire County, VA after 1784.

McFADDEN, McFADDIN, ROBERTS -
I am looking for information about Arthur Mcfaddin (McFadden) b. 1892
Mar, in Virginia d in the 1930s. Upshur Co. WV. He "seems" to have
shown up on the 1900 Federal Census. I believe he is listed as a nephew
for John and Milly McFaddin as an 8 yo living in Garden District
Buchanon, Va. Both Milly and John are 41 at the time.
He is my maternal great grandfather, he
married Nancy Roberts b.1897 in WV and died in Danville, Ohio in 1970s. They raised their
children in Buckhannon, WV, including my grandmother Lillie Ruhemia McFaddin b. Jan 27,
1914 WV d.5/19/1977 in Garretsville, Ohio and her sister Bertha McFaddin ( my
stepgrandmother).
Oral history in the family is that Arthur was dropped along with a sister
in an orphanage while young, his mother was ill. Eventually she passed on, and the father ran
off. I am trying to synchronize these two different versions of what happened to him. I know he
was not adopted out to anyone (per my stepgrandmother) and he did run away from the orphanage and
had plans to go back and get his sister (not sure if that ever happened). Since I am interested
in tracing this family line, I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers in what
direction to take here.
Is there a chance my Arthur is the same as the one who lived with
his uncle? It would be easier to me if that was the case. This may never be solved, but I will
try.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Booth Rogers, Greenville,

HAGHILL, LAWTON, SINCLAIR -
My 3 greats grandfather, George Latham Lawton, got married in Norfolk, Va to Anna Maria
Haghill on June 5, 1823. An affidavit of the marriage was recorded in his home town of
Newport, RI. She is buried in Baltimore, Md.
I have searched everywhere and cannot find any
family named Haghill. The only Haghill I have found is a town in Scotland.
George L. Lawton was a professional clerk and served during the War of 1812 as Captain's
Clerk to Commander Arthur Sinclair who was from Virginia. After to war he served as
secretary to Sinclair for 5 years. I am sure he knew how to spell his wife's name.
Is
it possible that there is a family in Virginia with a similar name? Is it possible she was a
connection of Sinclair's? I live in New Jersey and can't get down to Norfolk. Do you have
any suggestions on where to look?

BROWN, LUCK -
I am looking for families who lived in Louisa Co. Va in the 1700's. They are all ancestors and I
have been trying to trace the families for several years......the first is the family of Tarlton
Brown. He lived in Louisa County and was a "sub-sheriff" in the 1780's. I have a document
that says he owed the British Government money and in an Order Book at the Louisa Courthouse it
says that "he had absconded to the Carolinas"........I have wondered if this could be the same
Tarlton Brown who was born in Albemarle County in 1757.
The next family is that of
Larkin Luck. He was born in the mid-1700's and his mother was said to be Elizabeth
Brown but I can't find out to which Brown family she was related. Her children had
names of Tarlton Luck (Larkin's brother) and Austin Luck and also Barlett
Luck. These are all names found in the Albemarle Brown's Cove people.
I would

names are the same. Can you help me?
