I am searching for information on my Anderson family. William Anderson, b. 1752, d.
1817, was listed in Logan Station which was in Kentucky Co., Virginia. I have the family
tree naming his father John Anderson from Augusta Co., VA 1787, but I would love to search
county records for any other information on him if only I could find where Logans
Station was located. Does anyone know what County in Virginia Kentucky County and Logans
Station was in? Thanks a heap!

Looking for the parents, siblings and wife of: Willis PILLOW, born about 1801 in VA, was
married about 1828 (name of wife unknown), ended up in Giles Co., Tennessee with his children.
His wife may have died somewhere between VA and TN or in TN. The children of Willis PILLOW
are William P. born abt 1829; John born abt 1831; Thomas born abt 1833; Richard born abt 1836;
Mary Jane born about 1837; Elizabeth born about 1838; Tennessee born about 1840; Josephine born
abt 1842; and Henrietta PILLOW born about 1844. Does anyone recognize this family? Any

Looking for information on George Bradley (b. VA ca.1815). Married Elizabeth Betty
Briggs. Had a son named William Bradley who married Elizabeth Pridemore.
Looking for info on the parentage of George or Elizabeth, but particularly George. Believe he is
the son of Thomas Bradley (b. Va ca.1775), wife's name Elizabeth (last name unknown).
There is also a possibility that he is related to a Samuel Bradley instead of Thomas. I
have only weak info concerning the family in the early 1800s and late 1700s, but the family seems
to have moved into the Lawrence Co. KY and Floyd Co. KY areas sometme between 1805-1815. Also
have a posting on Buchanan Co. site with other info.

Virginia. Robert WILEY was born in 1805. He moved to Ohio, and he and his wife Mary Ann
or Polly had 2 sons: Joseph (b 1830) and George (b 1836) in Ohio, then had more children in
Indiana: Mary Ann, Nancy, William, Narcissa, Isabel, Matilda, Sarah and Robert. The father was
a farmer and blacksmith. Do you know of any Robert WILEY who fits this time period and

I am trying to find the parents and also marriage date of my 2G grandfather, John Brady b.
1806 VA m. Elizabeth Britton b. 1805 (don't know where she was born or when she married
John Brady). Here is the little I do know: Daniel E. White, 1833-1910 son of
Alexander and Margaret A. Cloud White. His wife Emma Brady 1848-1924 Their
children: Infant, born and died same day; twins, Roy and Raymond Apr.25, 1874-Jun. 16, 1874;
Arthur Chauncey 1868-1915 married Edna Mary Larimer b.1884; Herbert R. ? no info; Lillian
B. married Alvin T. Clark 12-24 1890; and Laura F. married Leroy M. Coyner
9-26-1900 she died 12-19-1905 at age 27.
Emma Brady's parents are: John Brady
b. 1806 in VA, d. 6/22/1869, buried at Lane Cemetery & Elizabeth Britton b. 1805, d.
10/7/1856 51y 8d. It is noted in the 1850 census of White County that John owned 2000 acres of
land At some point they removed to White County, Indiana.

else known on her. Lewis Thomas CHAPMAN born in New York about 1813 OR 1815. Last 1850 US
census he was in New Orleans, LA. Death there in 1955. Married Mary E. MILEY (or
NILEY or WILEY 1850 Census writing not too clear) She was born in VA somewhere and
would like to make contact with anyone knowing of this family. Leonora CHAPMAN born in
New York about 1805. Nothing else on her. Elizia CHAPMAN born in New York, date unknown.
Thought to have moved to Clermont County Ohio and lived with the rest of the Chapmans and
died there. The US 1850 Census said they were all born in New york, but the Ohio Census said they
were born in New Jersey. Which one is right I don't know. Any help is appreciated.

I am searching for information on my great-great-great grandfather, John Granderson Mayes.
He was born April 10, 1786 in VA. However, by 1810, he was married and living in KY, so I don't
know what "VA" means in 1786, because what is now KY was 4 counties of VA in 1786. He
wound up living in an area now known as Washington & Mercer Cos., KY, but in earlier days all
the records for that area came from Lincoln KY. Any assistance would be appreciated. Also, I'm
curious to know about the "Granderson" connection, which must date back to VA
times.

January 1890 in Virginia, county unknown, and died, unmarried, on 18 September 1983 in Buncombe
County, NC. My husband's related ancestor is John ZERNOW born ca. 1811 in PA. and later
relocated to Charleston, SC., where he married, wife unknown. I am trying to trace the

immigrated from VA as a teenager with an unknown brother. They probably were from Montgomery Co,
later Wythe Co, and traveled west in a caravan. Because of sickness, Thomas was left in TN with
a Beeler family. He did not continue west but settled in TN and married Margaret
BEELER Smith. Margaret had a daughter, Sarah, by her first marriage to a
Smith. Thomas and Margaret Dunn's children were: Johnny, Francis, Mary, Joseph,

Thomas ETHERTON b. VA 1783. His middle name may have been Grantsor or Grantson, but I've
no documentation of it. His wife was Jennie/Jane LIPE (not sure if she was his first
wife). He was closely related to---possibly a brother-- to Samuel and Micajah ETHERTON.
All were located in what is now Cocke Co., TN by the 1790s. Migrated to Illinois by 1820s.

WILLIAMS -
A group of Williams families left Virginia in the early 1800s and migrated to Morgan
County, AL. The patriarch appears to have been William Williams, born 1783, VA, died 1857
Morgan County, AL. Another branch was led by a Thomas Roper Williams, born in VA. These
Williams families all maintained that they were not related, however they share a number
of names, including Powhatan Bolling, Pocahontas, Clarence, which lead me to believe there was a
common ancestry in Virginia. Where did they originate? Is there a connection to Pocahontas as
these names appear to suggest?

I am trying to trace and make sense of the descendants of Gresham Coffield or
Cofield who arrived in Virginia ca 1638. They were in Virginia through the mid 1700s,
then several branches immigrated to North Carolina, then Georgia by early 1800s. My branch
arrived in Randolph County, AL by 1840s. I have been trying for years to figure out how they all
descend from Gresham. The name Gresham (slurred into Grissom or Grisham) is still common
in most branches of the Cofield/Coffields

ELLINGTON -
Have Andrew CALDWELL, Wife, Jerusha ELLINGTON, Granddaughter of Henry
DICKERSON, II of Russell County, VA (formerly Washington Co). His Father was William
CALDWELL who stayed in PA after the Revolutionary War, before coming to Virginia. Since
William CALDWELL was a popular name for those in many CALDWELLs who came to
Virginia, I am not sure where mine were before leaving Russell County and going to Clark County,
Illinois, and then on to Effingham, Illinois (Effingham County). Their son, Henry Dickinson
CALDWELL, was born in 1814 in Russell County. I do not have access to all the Russell Co.
Property Tax records and sites but did try the 1810 one and found ONLY the ELLINGTONs, and
DICKERSONs listed. I do not know what counties my line of CALDWELLs would have or
could have been in before. My William CALDWELL stayed in Adams County, PA (long enough to
write the Census for that County in 1820) before coming to Virginia. Suspect he either came to
Augusta County, VA where other CALDWELLs were at Ft. Definance (near Staunton) and
connected to the Old Stone Church there, and have learned of other CALDWELLs in Bishop
County, Lunnnberg, and Betocourt Counties. I have not been able to establish when and where my
William CALDWELL died and where he is buried. Suspect it is in VA somewheres. Andrew
CALDWELL and Wife, left to go with their son, Henry
Dickinson CALDWELL, to Illinois. I am not sure if my William CALDWELL went to
Illinois or not. There are a lot of twins in all these lines - the DICKERSONs/
ELLINGTONs and CALDWELLs. I am a twin who also has twins. Great Grandfather, Henry
Dickinson CALDWELL, had 12 children and 3 sets of twins among them. Any information you
might have would be greatly appreciated. Would love to have access to these other Counties and
their sites/ propeprty tax records -

I am researching the surname OBNEY. Other variations on the spelling could be
OBENY, AUBENY, AUBONY, and ABONY. According to Peter Coldham's
"The Complete Book of Emigrants in Bondage". Robert OBNEY was convicted of a
crime in London in July 1749 and shipped to America on the ship Thames in August 1749.
I do not know where he landed or what happened to him after he arrived. The family has been
traced back to a James OBENY born some where in Virginia about 1760. There is also the
following: Thomas Abony (Aubony) Revolutionary War Veteran 2nd Virginia Regiment,
private in the Continental Line. BLW 11881-100-13, Dec. 1791, assignee Francis Greaves. Did he
have a son named James Abbeny (Obeny)? A wife or daughter named Susannah? Help,

Lee (b. 1867) m. C.T. Swain; and Robert Glenmore (b. 1873) m. Eula Lee Farmer.
James and his parents were born in Virginia but I don't know where in Virginia or who his parents
were. This family may be related to Littleton Philip Wood.

George DICKERSON stated on the birth record of his youngest son, Joseph Henry
DICKERSON who was born 1874, Nelson County, Kentucky, that he (George) was born in Sarana
County, Virginia. According to census, he was born about 1800. What county did he mean? The
handwriting is clear, no mistaking Sarana for an existing county. Family tradition says that
George came to Kentucky from Virginia by the way of Maryland. He may have arrived Nelson County
with the family of Benedict ANDERSON of Montgomery County, Maryland. He married Penelope
Eleanor ANDERSON, daughter of Benedict, in Nelson County, 1829.

McCLANAHAN's Rev. War Pension papers. . . also was

My ancestor was Alexander Thompson who married Margaret Ritchie in Prince Edward
Co., Va on Dec 7, 1786. Marriage Bond was signed on Sept 4, 1786 and William Thompson
(presumed to be the father of Alexander) signed and gave his consent for Alexander to marry. I
am looking for information on William Thompson, father of Alexander. By 27 Jan 1787
Alexander and Margaret were in Lincoln Co., KY where William Thompson, Sr. gave him 200
acres of land. This same William, Sr. gave other land on 30 Jan 1787 to William Thompson,
Jr. at same general location. William, Sr. signed land transfer documents with an "X"
and William, Jr. with a signature ...signature does not match the signature on the Marriage Bond
of 1786. I believe that William, Sr. was in Lincoln Co. by 1780 living on Clarks Run and
Dougherty's Creek and in 1783 he built a grist mill at this location. Daughter, Jane
Thompson married John Downing on 2 Jan 1783 in Lincoln Co., KY. John Downing
was from Bedford Co., VA. Looking to resolve the realtionship between William, Sr., William, Jr.
and Alexander. There was also a George Thompson in the same general area of Lincoln
County during this period of time. Believe the key to this lies in Virginia. Thanks,
