BERRY, LOVE -
Looking for information on Major William LOVE, in Washington County in 1810 census,
married there in 1812 at age 62 to a Prudence Berry (twice widowed). I have heard he died
in 1815 in Washington County. I am wondering if it was his son William LOVE who owned the
forge in Washington County, VA and raised many children and if anyone knows about this William.
Some have him born in 1780 but I think he may be 'my' William LOVE born 1776, NC.
I
think his children were Margaret, Harriet, Leonidas, Oscar, William, Abner - and the four I know
of to my William - Alecy, Lydia, Milly and Caleb. These children range from 1800 to 1818. I think
his wife's name was Mary and may have been an Indian lady. Thanks! Terijo

WATSON -
While searching Rev. War pension files, I came across John and Hannah Watson, who
evidently tore out and mailed in a page from the family Bible listing the names and ages of their
children. The state is Virginia but I can't make out the county. Does anyone know this family?
John Watson was a private in the Virginia Militia during the Rev. War. He died in 1824.
His wife Hannah was born in 1749 and was still alive in 1837 when she applied for his pension.
They were married in Virginia in Feb. 1776. Their children (from the Bible page) were Mary b. 10
Mar 1777; Joseph T. b. 29 Oct 1778; John b. 3 Feb 1781; James b. 8 Oct 1784; Letishe b. 28 Mar
1786; Nancy G. b. 22 July 1788; and Betsy b. 20 Jan 1795. The spelling of the County looks
something like Mathews...there is definitely a "th" in the middle, but I can't make it out.

HORSBURGH, HOSBERG, PETERS -
After looking at the Internet for, what seems like a terribly long time, I hope that you can help
me.
I am trying to locate any records pertinent to my great-grandfather, David Peters,
b. 1842 in Virginia. He was a Black man. I do not know whether he was a slave or a free man.
The county of his birth I do not know. Subsequent census records state that he always listed
"Virginia" as his birthplace, as well as the birthplace of his parents.
In 1882, he married
Maria HOSBERG (HORSBURGH), b. 1857, in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan. They settled
in Jackson County (Kansas City), Missouri, and raised a family of 6 children, 5 of whom survived.
Maria is sometimes referred to as MARIE, MARIAH and MARY in census records. She is also, at
times, referred to as "mulatta" or Black, when she was very clearly Caucasian, of Scotch, German
and Dutch heritage.
It would be greatly appreciated if you would help me find the "right
path" to information which will divulge Mr. Peters parentage, and home/county in Virginia.

Late 1700 - 1800 - the following "Negroes" are listed on the 1870 Census as living in East

STAPLES, TURNER -
Hi, I am trying to find a John Burton Staples. He is said to have been born in Culpeper
Co. Va. in 1785. I have been unable to find a Staples family that he fits into in
Culpeper, or a Staples family at all. He had a son that is named Charles Richard that is
also said to have been born in Virginia in 1829, if he was born in Va., then he has some older
sibs that where also probably born in Virginia, there names are: Samuel H., Martha Ann, William,
and Lucy Ann. He married, it is said, on May 1818 in Va. to Nancy Ann Turner. She is said
to be born in Hawksnest, Fayette Co., WV. The Census' that I have found for the couple give her
birth between 1792 and 1810, depending on which one you look at. However, her birth is given as
Nov 1782, which does not enter into the census age???? The couple is said to have left Va., and
moved to Tennesse and by 1830 are in Kentucky. If this is true, it is likely that Charles Richard
and possibly a few of his older sibs where actually born in Tn and not Va. As you can see, things
are not equallying out, so any help, hints or ideas would be appreciated.
