CAVE, LOWRY -
John Cave, son of Samuel Cave and Elizabeth Lowry, was born about 1794 in Fauquier County, VA. Census records show him in Stafford County, VA, by 1830. His siblings, James, Nancy, and Lowry Cave, were all married in Fauquier County, VA, but I find no marriage record for John. His wife was named Fanny, but her surname is unknown. I am looking for any record of their marriage, but I'm not sure which county in VA it might have taken place. I have checked the neighboring counties, but to no avail. If any of these names figure in your research, or if you can give me any additional information, please contact me.

My great-grandfather was a younger son of Walter Lytz who was born in 1844 and died in Bristol around 1917. Walter had a farm and it passed on to his eldest son, and not Lucian. PARKER -
I have recently traced my family back through the generations to Dr. Alexander Parker. He was born about 1690 in Virginia. He had two sons that I know of--William and Alexander. I am wondering where he/they are buried. Also, if Dr. Parker was born in Virginia or came from England. At one time he owned land in Bristol, England but don't know if it perhaps was just an inheritance he received or if he had come from there. Any information you have will be most appreciated. I'm really not sure of the county in which these Parkers lived, but it may have been Spotsylvania. Again, thanks for any assistance. Barbara Rissman Drager

CLARE, ELLER, MURRAY, NORD -
I am insearch of info re: John Clarence Murray b. Richmond, VA 1898, spouse Maude Eller b. Va 1902. Have been unable to learn if they had children. John B. Murray b. 1867 arrived Ellis Island from Ireland single, married Elizabeth H. Clare (no date or place), but John Clarence was born to them in Richmond 6yrs later. My Father in law, John C. is terminally ill and would appreciate any info on the father he never met. We know that John Clarence made it to Albany, NY in 1923 to marry Signe Nord ( John C's mother) when he was 29. They had twin sons John C. and William (d) but "disappeared" within 2 years of their birth. We do not know what happened to Maude Eller Murray. Was she the 1st wife or second? Any children? There is a large gap from when John B. Murray arrived from Ireland, then birth of John Clarence in Richmond, then marriage and birth of twins John C. and William in Albany NY. Where does Maude Eller fit in? We are lost, any help is appreciated. All knowledgeable family members are deceased. Any suggestions? Thanks. --

BRIAND, BRYANT, BURGESS, DONAHOE, DONAHUE -
An old family letter written by Virginia Dial states: [bracket comments are Judy's] (parentheses are Virginia's)
"Great-grandfather, Henry Donahue's father was, Michael Donahue who married a French gal - Louise Briand [this might be a spelling for 'Bryant']- Great-grandfather Henry was a short dark Frenchman [I think this means that he took after his mother's looks] - (we have pictures of Great-great grandfather and grandmother) Michael was born about 1791 - great big raw boned med-framed Irishman born during Washington's administration. Great-grand-mother Donahue was a Burgess [Sarah] (my grand-mother Dial's aunt), and according to all who knew her, the finest lady in the land - a very lovely person.
The Donahue's hove over from the "auld sod" to Virginia. Michael born in Va. went as frontiersman to Indiana, then to Iowa & then to Kansas - is buried at Valley Falls, Kansas (pictures were taken in "Leaven-town" of all things) Julie [Julia Electra Donahue, Henry's dau and Michael's grand dau] remembered them both. They produced fourteen boys and two girls!!!"
A family story has it that Michael Donahoe (born nearer 1789) was not approved of by Louise's family. Her father forbid the marriage, so Michael and Louise had a "woods" marriage... i. e. they ran off together. By their children's births, they were in Indiana 1809, then Kentucky, then Illinois, then Iowa, then Nebraska, then Kansas. I would like to find Michael's family and Louise Briand (Bryant)'s family. A census says that Louise was born in South Carolina.

FOGLE, HUFFMAN, SNYDER -
Do you think you can point me in the right direction? I have been tracking a Snyder family in Indiana for many years. I have new information that they came to Indiana from Virginia around 1700. Thank you, Gordon Smith, Westford, Mass. This text was on page 853 of a book Titled, "History of Adams and Wells counties" published in 1918. Franklin SNYDER is one of the oldest residents of Adams County, has passed the age of fourscore, and for fully three-quarters of a century has been a resident of this County He is also honored and respected as a surviving veteran of the great war which freed the slaves and made this a united country. Mr. Snyder 's home is a well improved little farm of forty-four acres in section 32 of Jefferson Township. His daily mail delivery is on Route No. 2 from Geneva. Mr. Snyder was born in Champaign County, Ohio, August 16 1834 a son of Jesse and Mary (Huffman) Snyder. His Father and mother were both natives of Virginia, where they grew up and married and then moved to Champaign County, Ohio, locating north of Urbana. The father, a Blacksmith, built a shop and rendered service to the farmers of a large community. In 1840 he sold out his interests in Champaign County, Ohio, and came to Adams County, Indiana, which was then virtually a wilderness. In 1843 he located at New Corydon, Indiana, in Jay County, where he set up a shop and gave The services of his trade to the community for a long period of years. Both parents died at New Corydon. His father was a republican. Franklin Snyder was eight years old when his father moved to New Corydon and there he attended the common schools and his early experiences were as a farm boy. August 16, 1862, he enlisted in Company E of the Eighty-ninth Indiana Infantry, and was mustered in at Wabash, Indiana, and from that time to the close of hostilities was with his regiment in all the campaigns, marches and battles and rendered faithful duty as a soldier. He is a member of Grand Army Post No. 83 and was formerly officer of the day of the post at New Corydon. Mr. Snyder votes the republican ticket. He married Sarah E Fogle Who died in May 1917. Their only surviving child is James Snyder, until recently clerk in the post office at Portland, Indiana, But now with his father on the farm. Mr. Franklin Snyder has five grandchildren.

BELL, PARROT, SMITHSON, TERRELL, WILSON -
Help, I have reached a dead end with my research of my gggg-great grandfather, William Bell. I do know he was born in VA about 1777. Do not know anything about his parents or siblings. He married Synah or Sinah P. Wilson in Campbell Co., VA in 1801. We have a copy of the marriage bond, so we know Synah's father was James Wilson, but we don't know anything about her mother or siblings. Three children were born of the Bell-Wilson union that we know of. James D, born near Richmond on 10/06/1802. George W. born around 1802, and Benjamin born in 1815. We do know that both George and James were born in VA. Benjamin, we aren't sure where he was born. We do know that something happened to Synah P. Wilson Bell, before September 1825, because William Bell married again on 9-15-1825 to the widow Jemima Terrell, who was born Jemima Smithson. Jemima parents were Drummond Smithson and Mary Parrot. Both of these parents were born in Fluvanna Va. Help, I really need to find out more info about William Bell, his parents & siblings. Arkansas (tho' some changing of Co. boundries since so farm may have been Hot Springs Co. originally).
