GLEN, GLENN, SIMMONS -
I am attempting to find information on my father's family. My grandfather was Edward A. Glenn, b. 1887 in Ohio, d. 1939 in Michigan. His father (my great grandfather) was G. Robert Glenn (spelled Glen in some documents). I have a 1910 census from Benton Township, Ohio that says that Edward's parents (G. Robert Glenn and Maggie (Baker?) Simmons) were born in Virginia. I have no knowledge of which county or exactly when. I'm guessing that since Edward Glenn was born in 1887 that his parents could have been born somewhere between 1850 and 1867. Would love to be able to trace the Glenns back to Ireland, but will be grateful for anything that matches up right now!

COOPER, PHILLAW -
Edmund Blount Cooper and Jinnett Phillaw married 27 Jul 1799 in Bertie County NC. The PHILLAW name appears 4 times in Bertie NC records from 1783-1799. Blount Cooper appears in 1790 and 1800 Bertie Co Census in addition to the marriage noted above. It is as if they suddenly "appeared" there and no where else in NC. Might these people have migrated to early Bertie NC from southern Virginia or elsewhere in Virginia? I would sincerely appreciate help from VA researchers who might have suggestions about where and how to search for them in early Virginia.

FOX, WATERS -
My greatgrandmother was named Mary Lou WATERS. She was born to a family who owned a stove foundry in Virginia in 1860; the foundry was converted to make munitions for the Confederate Army in the Civil War. My great grandfather, William FOX, met her through his business with her father, possibly during the Civil War, but maybe as late as the 1870s. She became his 3rd wife; and she died in childbirth with my grandmother (her only child) in March 1880 -- my grandmother's name was Katherine Mary FOX. I cannot locate any record of marriage for Mary Lou WATERS and William FOX in Va. or NY, nor a grave for her. He died when my grandmother was 8 and she knew little about her parents. I would like to locate this branch of my family -- they are the only "hole" in my family tree. The only other information we have is that Mary Lou's father may have been named John. If anyone has any clues, could you e-mail me? Thanks in advance.

Henry Simpson b. 1806 VA is the only information that I have. He owned land that was owned by John Simpson in 1797. Henry sold this land to a John Simpson in 1831. In 1827, he returned at age 21, if he ever left, and married Anna Carter with John Harmon, Jr. signing his bond of $1,250. for security. He owned 125 acres of land at age 23 which has been traced to Ellis King, who bought 75 acres from Jonathan Fuston who bought it from Thomas Fuston in 1802. This land was the north 75 acres of land owned by John Simpson in 1797.

MILLS, MORRIS, SKIDMORE, STONE, WATTS -
Elias "Ali" Watts (Sr.) was born ca.1762-1775 in UNKNOWN PLACE. Based upon my research, he was related to a William Watts and possibly Col. John Watts. Hardesty's WV Heritage says that John Watts is the progenitor in WV of the Watts. Elias "Ali" supposedly married Eleanor "Nelly" Elender Mills, d/o William Mills and Eleanor Morris; gd/o Ambrose Mills and Mourning Stone, in NC in 1794. This is not substantiated. Their first Child, Ambrose Watts stated in 1850 that he was born in Ga. in 1798. We find William Watts in Kanawha County, Va (Now Cabell County, WV) in 1810 Census but he moved on with David and James to Indiana. Elias "Ali" was apparently killed by Indians (family folklore)in ca. 1808. "Nelly", who shows up in the 1820 Kanawha Census remarried a ________ Skidmore and had two other children, Perlina in 1814 and Daniel Jackson in 1817. They do not show up together in any census or tax reports. The Watts Family in WV can trace them from there. What we don't know is 1. Who were Elias "Ali" Watts' parents and where was he born.

I am searching information on the following information. Our family lore state the following: William Jacobs came to Lancaster County, Virgina in 1652. His son, John had a son, John, who married Mary Hayes in 1721. She was the mother of eight sons: John, Richard, Joshua, Joseph, Benjamin, Isaac, Jesse and Daniel.
Joshua, who lived in N.C. was the father of Lieutennat John Jacobs who fought in the Revolution of 1776. There was also a Captain Joshua Jacobs and Col. John Jacobs of Mass. These are most likely William's brother, Richard of Ipswitch, Mass. 1634.
Lieutenant John Jacobs, who had 3 sons: Henry, George and Gabriel. George's family went to Brunswick County, N.C. and George died young leaving a family of orphan children.
A my 3 g grandfather's father did die young, and because most of the documentation was burned either in the Rev. or Civil War, I need help to verify this information. Thank you for a response of any kind.

Wesley married Sarah Meacham 1 Jan 1832 in Montgomery Co Tenn and had 2 children William and Henrietta. Sarah died in 1835 and by 1837, Wesley Oliver and children moved to Marion Co, IL with his mother-in-law Nancy (Barbee) Meacham, her unmarried daughter Henreitta Lilly and Nancy's husband John Spencer Meacham. Wesley married Mahala Wilson in Marion Co, IL in 1841 and they had 10 more children. I suspect that Wesley Smith Oliver is somehow related to the Mrs Catherine Oliver in the 1820 and 1830 Montgomery Co Tenn. In 1820, it looks like Catherine Oliver is over 45 and has one girl age 26 to 45 living with her. Living very close by is the Meachams and a Drewry Oliver age 26 -45 who has 6 boys and 2 girls under the age of 26 living with him( his wife is also listed as age 26-45). Suspect that this Drewry (Drewery/ Drury/ Druery) Oliver is the Drury OLIVER who married Elizabeth DAINE on 3 Apr 1802 in Pittsylvania, Virginia and is somehow related to our Wesley. I would really appreciate any info you can give us on Drewry and Elizabeth Oliver and/or Catherine Oliver. Or if you can make a connection to Wesley Oliver, please let me know. Thank you very much for your time. We hope to hear from you soon.

OFFUTT -
I would like to find information regarding the following Offutts. They are all listed in records as having served in the War of 1812. What I am looking for is additional information on them, as well as the units they served in. For example if anyone could tell me what county the unit was mostly recruited in, when the unit served, what battles if any they were involved in, as well as any person specific information. There were two listings for Eli in the index, I'm unsure if that was an error, if he mustered out and back in, or there were two Eli's. William Offutt 60 Regt. (Minor's) VA Militia; Nathamil Offutt 55 Regt. (Feb - Mar 1815) VA Militia; Eli Offutt 57 Regt. VA Militia; Eli Offutt 57 Regt. VA Militia; and Hamilton Offutt 60 Regt. (Minor's) VA Militia.
