Bachelor of Arts degree in June 1942, with a major in P. E. and a minor in

the world. Ellis was a life member of the Floyd VFW and a member of Masonic
Lodge No. 329 where he received his 50-year pin in 1999. Mr. Enoch was a
member of Floyd Methodist Church and remained a member until his death. He

ENOCH, Clarice R., 85, of
Floyd, was called to her eternal home on Wednesday, August 27, 2003. She
was born September 1, 1917 in Oakdale, W. Va., the first child and only
daughter of the late Inez Pearl Garrett Robinson and Delbert Earl Robinson.
She had one brother, Gail W. Robinson, who is deceased. She is survived by
her husband, friend and companion of 63 years, Ellis L. Enoch. Mrs. Enoch
has one daughter, Leta and a son-in-law, Glenn Thomas, who live in
Charlottesville, Va. She has a grandson, Stephen, of Charlottesville, Va.
and a granddaughter, Ella of Richmond, Va. After graduating from Shinnston
High School, Shinnston, W. Va., in 1936, she attended Salem, College,
Salem, W. Va. on an academic scholarship, where she earned a Standard
Normal Degree in 1938. After teaching elementary school for ten years, she
returned to Salem College in 1953 and earned her B.S. in Elementary

her many student during 20 years of teaching in
Floyd. Mrs. Enoch was an active member of the Evangelical United Brethren
Church in Peoria, W.Va. and more recently a member of the Floyd United

devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a dedicated teacher and a
strong Christian, Clarice passed on with great dignity. She will be greatly
missed by those who knew her and love her. Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2003 at the Floyd United

MT. PLEASANT - Elizabeth Rollins Epperly Larsen, wife of
Harold Samuel Larsen, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, February 13, 2012. She
was born April 23, 1921, in Amarillo, Texas. Her parents, James Proctor and
Willa Mae Williamson Rollins, were children of pioneers of west Texas.
"Liz" was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where
she was a vibrant member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and named a Campus
Leader, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She attended a Masters program at the University of Virginia and
graduated from Catholic University in Washington, DC, with a Masters in
Library Science. As a Children's Librarian, she worked in the Fairfax
County Library system in Virginia serving as the first Children's Librarian
in the then new community of Reston, Virginia.
Liz was an avid reader, a talented painter and writer, but her greatest gift
to all who knew her was her enormous capacity for compassion and empathy.
She never met a stranger, could carry on a conversation with a fence post
and find out where it had been milled. After any function she attended,
everyone there thought of her as their dearest friend for she had
discovered all their heart-felt secrets.
In Martinsville, Virginia, Liz was President of the Charity League, helped
establish a branch of the Virginia Museum, and was a sought after keynote
speaker for many functions. A lover of learning, she collected many
anecdotes and literature from her interactions with the many people she
met. A mentor, loving mother, devoted wife, constant friend, Liz will be
greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Liz is survived by her devoted husband, Harold S. Larsen; two daughters,
Carolyn Epperly (Michael Robinson) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Epperly
and her partner Anne-Louise Brookes; son, John David Epperly, Jr. (Laurie
Duncan); two stepsons, David Larsen (Pam) and Paul Larsen (Gay); 5
grandchildren; and 5 step grandchildren.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Larsen are invited to
attend a Memorial Tribute for Liz at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012,
at The Palms, Mt. Pleasant. Burial, in Marion, SC will be private.
