Cleveland District Round Table is Now North East Ohio Genealogy Round Table!!

CDRT is expanded to cover much of NE Ohio. It is now known as NEOGRT. You will find the new site at https://neogrt.org/.Additionally, all requests to have your meetings and events posted should be sent to neogrt23@gmail.com.

It has been a pleasure to serve your advertising and programming needs for the past 19 years. Jean Barnes began this OGS Cleveland District organization about 2003, and I offered to do a website. Following Jean was Margaret Cheney, Then Deborah Abbott, then Deborah and Mary Milne Jamba as Cleveland District Trustees. Now we welcome our new Trustee, John Tracy Cunningham. If you have a specific research problem, sign up for a free online consultation with a research specialist. If you need a copy of something from a microfilm, and you know who, what, when, and film number, you can use the lookup service. Be sure to check FamilySearch.org >Search >Images in case it is up. Most of the films are.
  • Genealogy Quick-Start is featuring a live webinar by well-known speakers every other Tuesday on YouTube. Check it out here.
  • 2nd Wednesdays of the month at Noon IN PERSON Medina County District Library holds their "Genealogy Discussion Group." on Second Wednesdays of each month. Connect with fellow genealogists to discuss research, share hints, and ask questions. All are welcome! Click here for more info.

  • Consider catching up on webinars!
  • FamilySearch is indexing lots of records now. You could help by indexing a set of records of your choice.
  • There are many other volunteer projects available to pay it forward. There is a list of suggestions here.
  • If you enjoy collaborative genealogy, the Unclaimed Persons volunteers seem to be very busy lately. This is finding next of kin for coroners who cannot find them. It is strictly online. Read all about it and you can apply.
  • RootsMagic Webinars are mostly program related.
  • The Family History Library in Salt Lake City is open and is still offering free webinars and classes. A huge schedule, including many ethnic offerings is here.
  • From FamilySearch: If you have a specific research problem, please sign up for a free online consultation where you can meet one on one with a research specialist at https://www.familysearch.org/family-history-library/family-history-library-research-consultations.
  • Thomas MacEntee's Abundant Genealogy offers lots of deals. Many past daily deals are actually still available. Lists some webinars.
  • You are invited to the FSGS "Poolside Chats: A Genealogy Webinar Series" of webinars held live on-line the 3rd Thursday of every month at 8pm ET. It is free to attend, but you must register in advance.
  • MyHeritage is offering free presentations live and recorded. See the MyHeritage Blog for listings. Their platform for live and previous presentations is Facebook. (Long loading times.)
  • FindMyPast is offering its webinars and chats for free. The archive is at YouTube. The more recent offerings are on Facebook.
  • ConferenceKeeper.org has a large collection of genealogical events, similar to this listing, but more global in nature. There are many virtual opportunities listed.
  • ACPL Genealogy Center presents frequent free presentations. Offerings and Register here.
  • On Demand The State Historical Society of Missouri is offering a twelve-part Basic Genealogy Series. Bill Eddelman is presenting the topics which are intended for beginners, but maybe a good review with fresh ideas for an old problem. Tune in here for listing and links.

  • Richland County Genealogical Society is offering free admission to most of their programs via zoom. Write to Sunda Peters to request to be added to the invitation list.
  • BYU Family History Library presents free presentations on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. There is also a large collection of past webinars to view. Link to join
  • NGS is offering courses online, and one of them is "Reading Old Handwriting." This is by our own Carla Cegielski. You have 6 months to complete the assignments. See the overview here. $
