Erma Quinn, 85, 116 Mulberry Lane, Mountain City, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in the Johnson County Health Center. 

She was a native of Lester, West Virginia but had made her home in Pennsylvania and Mountain City for several years. 

She was a daughter of the late Norman and Florence Weddle and was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Quinn, who died in 1986, also by two sons, Russell Hawley and Ernest D. Hawley, also by 12 brothers and six sisters. 

She and her husband were the co-founders of the Mountain City Senior Living Center. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for 20 years in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Wilson, Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters, Norma Meador, West Patterson, New Jersey; Lavada Ara, Sophia, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Thomas D. Wilson and Vicky Stout, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; Judy Sidenstricter, Nottingham, Pennsylvania; seven great-grandchildren; an extra special niece, Cathy Souder, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Percy-Hux Funeral Home with Gordan Rawls and James Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Vicki Stout, Thomas D. Wilson, Jr., Gibb Barlow and Jimmy Mason. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday from the Funeral Home Chapel or at the residence at any time.

Percy-Hux Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lavada Weddle Ara

My Dear Mom,

I know that everyone thinks, their mother is the best. Well let me inform them all, that her family is the one who’s blessed. There’s no other mom like you, of that I am quite sure, for no matter what the pain you always have the cure.

On July 13, 2011, Lavada Weddle Ara permanently changed her address to the mansion awaiting her in Heaven. Born June 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Florence Adams Weddle.

Lavada is preceded in death by her husband Raymond John Ara; mother Florence Adams Weddle and father Norman Ellen Weddle; sisters Lettie Weddle, Gracie Weddle, Erma Quinn, Wilda Walker; brothers Loman Weddle, Donald (Bunk) Weddle, Clyde (Shortie) Weddle, William (Bill) Weddle, Lowell Thomas (Tommy) Weddle and Robert (Jackie) Weddle; special nephew Gerry Walker.

Lavada attended the Soak Creek Gospel Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with family and neighbors, yard work and shopping.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Terry Ara of Soak Creek, Drema Ara of Soak Creek, Ray Ara and wife Maxine of Cool Ridge, Lowell Thomas (Tommy) Ara and wife Debbie of NC; Rama Hayes and husband Mike of Meadow Bridge; grandchildren Chlorisa (Prissy) Ara Blevins of Soak Creek, John Ray Ara and companion Ashley of Soak Creek; great-grandchildren Brett Blevins of Soak Creek, Michael J. Blevins, II, of Soak Creek; sister Norma Meador and husband Dempsey of NJ and sister Barbara Wilson and Tom of TN and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, with Denny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Ara, Brett Blevins, Michael Blevins, Dean Sturgill and Lendo Walker, Jr.

Friends may gather with the family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vera Weddle Sigmon, 83, of Rocky Mount, died at her residence Saturday, March 22, 1997.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Weddle, her husband, Dan E. Sigmon, daughter, Peggy S. Love, two brothers, Clyde and Frank Weddle and son-in-law, Jimmy Housman.

Her surviving children and their spouses are daughter, Alice S. and V. B. Hall; daughter, Betty S. Hudson; son, Jerry D. and Patti Sigmon; daughter, Sue S. Housman; and son, Richard L. Sigmon, all of Rocky Mount. Her grandchildren, who were her greatest love, and their spouses are Don and Patti Love, Roanoke, Ann and Bill Barnette, Moneta, Pam and Mark Hanks, Bedford, Steve and Lesley Hall, Tony Hudson, Greg Sigmon, Angie Sigmon, Lila Sigmon, Jennifer Houseman, Tiffany Housman, Renee and Keith Stevens and Ricky Sigmon, all of Rocky Mount. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Hall, Keaton Hanks and Gavin Hanks, two sisters, Myrtle Ratliff, Rocky Gap and Ethel Bivens, Marion, also, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 1997, at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Joe R. Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Flowers will be appreciated, or donations may be made to the Peggy S. Love Scholarship Fund, 25 Bernard Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements.

Rosemary Walters Weddle, 96, of Carmel died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Manor Care at Summer Trace in Carmel. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories in Lebanon with the Rev. Steven O'Brien officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. 

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, 311 E. Main St., Lebanon, IN 46052, or the Charles O. Weddle Memorial Scholarship at Indiana University School of Medicine, in care of the I.U. Foundation, P.O. Box 660245, Indianapolis, IN 46266-0245. 

Mrs. Weddle is survived by children, Dr. Charles O. (Laurel) Weddle II of Columbus and Anne W. (William) Cline of Indianapolis; a sister, Lillian Snyder of Harrisburg, Pa.; a brother, Dr. Robert C. (Pat) Walters of Lebanon; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles O. Weddle.
