She was born in Floyd County and was the daughter of James Fleming Mannon and Polly Ann Hurt. Mrs. Reed graduated from Radford College, taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Floyd County, and retired from James Lees Carpets in Glasgow after 31 years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Enoch, her son James Darwin Reed, Sr. and her daughter-in-law, Carol D. Reed. She is survived by: her son Cline Elvin (Seaweed) Reed and daughter-in-law, Yvonne of Glasgow; sister, Elsie M. Graham of Floyd; grandchildren, Kenneth W. Reed, Debbie R. Wagaman, James D. Reed, Jr., Kelvin D. Reed, Monica R. Snow and Julia R. Snow; six great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Mrs. Reed loved the Lord. She live a full and blessed life as a faithful member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and an active member in Rockbridge County's Senior Citizen Center. You could always find her sewing, gardening, canning, and caring for her stray cats. We are truly blessed for our time with her on earth and will hold her in our hearts until we meet again Heaven. May we all meet again in Heaven by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Glasgow Baptist Churchildren with Reverend William Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Glasgow Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Glasgow First Aid Crew or Glasgow Fire Department. Cora M., 98, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2002. Cora was a
faithful member of the Ninth Street Church of the Brethren and was a member
since 1924. She taught children's Sunday School Class for many, many years.
She attended Radford College and taught school in a one room school house in
Floyd. Marrying the late Clarence E. Bowman, December 24, 1925 and her life
was an inspiration to all who have known her. She is survived by her
children, Harold Bowman, Salem, Fred Bowman, Daytona, Fla., Kenneth Bowman
and his wife, Bonnie of Roanoke; grandchildren, Rodney Bowman, Roger Bowman,
Anne Sampson, Mark Bowman, and Michael Bowman; great-grandchildren, Forrest
Bowman, Dustin Bowman and Mark Bowman, Jr.; her brother, Robert Mannon of
Floyd several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive
friends Sunday, January 20, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lotz Roanoke Funeral
Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke where a service celebrating Cora's life
will be held, Monday, January 21, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Marlon Morris
officiating. Private family interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial
