Dossie was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on January 8, 1925. She met her one true love, Calvert while they were both living in Maryland and they were married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1942. They bought their home in Garden City in 1947. Delores was a wonderful, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her hobbies included quilting, baking, babysitting and working with her roses. She loved to "jump in the car and ride" and also loved to sit in her swing on her front porch. She is now at peace in God's hands until we see her again. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Calvert Conner; her son, Danny Conner; her granddaughter, Crystal Clinebell; her grandson, Jeff Mills and her great-grandson, Jeremy Kendrick. She is survived by her sons, William E. Conner and wife, Judy, Doug Conner, Johnny "Bodie" Conner; her daughters, Anna Harris, Cathy Plunkett, Frances Campbell and Gerald; her daughters-in-law, Donna, Joyce and Vicky; eight grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; her sister, Wilma McKenzie and husband, William, of Finksburg, MD; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Amedisys Hospice of Salem, 1312 W. Main Street, Salem, VA 24153 in Delores' memory. A service celebrating her life will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel at noon on Saturday, August 10, 2013, with Pastor Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
