“Your site shows a Massie King being married to Clement Cole and both buried in the Cole Cemetery at SR 612 & 673.  That may be true; however, the Macy(sp) King that we knew was married to Archie Frank Cole, son of Jerry Kyle & Mae Inez and she and Archie are buried in that same cemetery.” (Don was correct!) 

Tannie Cole was buried in a cemetery up in the woods behind her home.  There are several cemeteries near the one currently used and all of them are often referred to as the Cole cemetery.  All of these cemeteries are within a mile of each other, as the "Crow Flies" (ha!) 

My brother Algie, lives on 673 Cole's Knob road and could show anyone where these cemeteries are.

I Harvey Cole of the county of Floyd and state of Virginia being sound of mind but weak in body, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills written by me. First it is my will that all of my just debts and burial expenses be paid after my death. Second it is my will that my son J. Kyle Cole have the homeplace where we now live, all except the part that Valentine Cole lives on. That has been surveyed but has not yet been deeded to him, but which I wish to deed to him in the future for a price on consideration yet to be fixed and that said J. Kyle Cole have one hundred and fifty dollars before any of the rest of the heirs get any and further that he care for me and my wife Cynthia so long as we both shall live furnishing us with the necessities of life so long as we shall live, and after our death to have said land as his compensation. Third it is my will that the proceeds of Valentine and Bailey Coles land together with all other debts if any are due me at the time of my death and my wifes death together with my entire personal effects, which shall be sold at the highest bidder and divided among my children as follows. To the heirs of Mary Graham (daughters) to the heirs of Ellen Wickham, Pleasant T. Cole, the heirs of James D. Cole, Noah Cole, Bailey Cole, Valentine Cole, and J. Kyle Cole equally, except for the heirs of Ellen J. Wickham which are to have only two dollars each, also Sarah Hale should have been in the above as sharing equally with the other heirs. Fourth, it is my will that my executors have three years to collect the debts in yearly installments. Fifth, it is my will that my sons Bailey, Valentine, and J. Henry S. Daub, 81, husband of the late Kathryn (Hunsberger) Daub, 1915 Juniata rd., Jeffersonville, died Saturday morning at Phoenixville Hospital where he had been a patient for several days.
He was born in Perkasie, son of the late Jacob and Mary Ellen (Schlichter) Daub. For 37 years, Mr. Daub had been employed with the Philadelphia Electric Co., as a lineman, retiring 14 years ago. He was a member of the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by three brothers, Charles S. and Paul S. of Perkasie; and Horatio S. of Abington.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Norman D. Holcombe Funeral Home, 31 Main st., Trappe. Rev. Richard L. Goodman, pastor of Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Conner, sisters, Elva C. Martin and Hester Hoback and two brothers, Archie F. Cole and Marvin L. Cole. Mrs. Conner was a longtime member of Villa Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, M. Edsel Conner and his wife, Doris C. Conner; a daughter, Delores C. Bauman and her husband, Bill Bauman, all of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Michael L. Conner and his wife Jane, James M. Eva Carlene Cole Nixon, 92, of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012, from complications of a stroke. Eva was born on November 20, 1919, to Jerry and Mae Cole and spent most of her life in Floyd County. In 1986 she retired from Floyd Nursing Home and moved to Salem. She was a member of Green Hill Church of the Brethren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rexford L. Nixon; and her siblings, Elva Martin, Archie Cole, Hester Hoback, Effie Conner, Nina Martin, Dorothy Martin and Marvin Cole. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Loreeta and Frank Carter, of Bristol, Janet and Tom Baca, of Albuquerque, N.M., Wanda and James Rettinger, of Roanoke, and Lisa and John Newell, also of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Sara and Jason Reeves, of Hamilton, Mont., Stephanie and Mike Schmidt, of Los Angeles, Calif., Sheri Carter, of Alexandria, Rex Carter, of Floyd, and Amanda, Ian, and Anya Newell, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; great- grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Reeves, and Emma and Maya Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank extended family, Ann LeDe' and her wonderful staff, Dr. Michael Malpass, and Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and attention during Eva's illness. ROANOKE - Don Elwood Cole, 68, formerly of Pilot, died Tuesday, March 9,1999, in a Roanoke hospital. He was employed by General Electric for 33 years and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving are a longtime companion, Arlene Renick; a son and his fiance, Mark A. Cole and Deborah Childress, Blacksburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Cole and Frank Goodwin, Orlando, Fla.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Dot Cole, Atlanta, Ga.; Bobby and Judy Cole, Lee and Norma Cole, all of Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews.

Lacy Lee Cole, Sr., 77, of Pilot, Va. died peacefully with his family at his side in his home on July 30, 2010 and went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Auburn Baptist Church, and a lifelong resident of Pilot. Lee was predeceased in death by his father and mother, Roscoe Douglas Cole and Vada Akers Cole, and brothers, Don Cole, and Bobby Cole. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Norma Griffith Cole; son, Lacy Lee Cole, Jr. and wife, Ilka Cole, of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandson, Wyatt Samuel Cole, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Cartwright; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Cole and Dot Cole, of Griffin, Ga.; and sisters-in-law, Judy Cole and Helen Crawford; mother-in-law, Esther Griffith; sister-in-law, Barbara Griffith, her children, Eric and Brian Griffith, and Glen Hancock, her fiancé; and nieces and nephews; a special niece, Debbie Keith, and great-niece, Briana Griffith. Lee served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army and was equally proud of his son, Lacy, who is currently serving in the United States Army. Lee was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a railroad lineman, carpenter foreman and stonemason. He enjoyed working locally and in other states from Florida to Virginia and was eager to share his experiences with family and friends. Lee will be remembered as a humble, honest, hard working, good-natured family man with a heart of gold. Lee also had a great love for antiques, gardening, hunting, fishing and the outdoors, but most of all Lee loved being a grandfather to Wyatt and treasured the precious moments they shared. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Horne Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shake Smith and the Rev. Leon Alley officiating. Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The Cole family would like to thank Doctors Michael Payne, Harry McCoy and Hospice and staff/nurses at Montgomery Regional Hospital for all their dedicated care. A special thank you to June Stephens for her friendship and loving care, family, friends and neighbors. The Cole family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.

Irvin Dallas Cole, 85, of Pilot, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at his home. He was a lifelong farmer, the retired owner and operator of Cole's Grocery and for 32 years served as Postmaster of Pilot.

Mr. Cole was a member of the Pilot United Methodist Church and McDaniel Lodge #86, AF&AM in Christiansburg.

Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, William K. and Lyndall Cole, Perry and Jane Cole, Roy Cole, all of Pilot; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Elbert Lee Naff and Rev. Walt Simmerman. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073, or the Pilot
United Methodist Church, Pilot, Va. 24138. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday and the family will receive friends there from 6 to 8 p.m.
