Kyle Arron Tamez, of Houston , Texas , passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the age of 34. He was born in Gretna, La. on September 14, 1984, to Mark Tamez and Gloria Alderete Sedgwick. Kyle attended the Art Institute of Houston and was employed by The Law Offices of Fernando J. Lopez and The Mokaram Law Firm as a technical support consultant. Kyle will always be remembered for his genuine heart, beautiful soul, upbeat personality, and his remarkable computer/ gaming skills. Kyle never met a stranger that he didn’t love or help at one time or another. He was not only a loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and dear friend, but an amazing Tio (uncle) that loved his nephew (Maddox Cash) more than life itself. Kyle is survived by his parents, Mark (Denise) Tamez, Gloria (Richard) Sedgwick; grandmothers, Mickey Hernandez, Guadalupe Castaneda, and Alicia Rendon; sisters Kelsi Tamez (Arnold), Ciara Tamez, and Danielle Sedgwick; brothers, Jon Ryan Tamez, Hunter Sedgwick, and Zachary Sedgwick; his nephew Maddox Cash Garza; uncles Paul (Cynthia) and Frank (Karla) Alderete, Jason (Amanda) Hernandez, Steven Tamez, Mark Rendon, and Jason Rendon; aunts Cynthia Sanchez, Melissa Tamez, Jessica (Mario) Mejia, and Linda (Raul) Rojas, and numerous cousins and friends. Kyle is preceded in death by his grandfather, Juan Hernandez, uncle, Johnny Alderete; aunt, Brenda Tamez. Visitation was held on July 12, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with the rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., on July 13, in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna, burial followed at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery of Ganado with Rev. Michael Petering officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Hernandez, Jamian Espinosa, Arnold Gaza Jr., Tom Johnston, Chris White, and Caleb Cambridge. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Porter, and Graham Pollan. Freddie N. Tarver, 73, of Edna passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. He was born in Edna on May 18, 1946 to Willie N Tarver and Lula Mae Tarver. Freddie was a retired teacher. He is survived by his wife Vera L Tarver, son Freddie Norwood Tarver II, daughter, Lynette L Goldman, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. There was a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at 1st Assembly of God in Edna with Brother David Murff officiating. D. W. "Billy" Tate, 88, of Edna passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Billy was born on September 22, 1931 in Yoakum, TX to Ell Roy and Clara Tate. Billy served our country by serving in the US Army for two years. Billy is survived by his children; Pat Ideus, Sandra Kubecka, David Tate and Robert Tate. Mary is survived by her sons, Stephen Martin (Denise) of Beeville, and John Patrick Martin (Marlo) of Beeville; grandchildren, Leah Latimer (Junior), Jennifer Douglas (Anthony), Bonnie Tate (Carlos), and Glenn Tate. Kingsville—Howard Jack Telford, 80, of Kingsville died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993. He was born June 26, 1913, in Atlanta, Ga. to Fredrick Rucker and Margaret Langston Telford. He was a National AAU Heavyweight Weightlifting Champion in 1931, a Border Patrol agent in Laredo, owner of a drive-in movie in Freer and a real estate agent from 1965 until his retirement in 1982. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Hereford and a member of Scottish Rite in Corpus Christi. Survivors include: wife; daughter, Nona Telford Allen of Lolita; one son; and four grandchildren. Dennis Thedford, 71, of Lolita, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010. He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Lolita, to the late Quinton and Eugene Thedford. He was a locomotive engineer for Alcoa, a member of the Port Lavaca Lions Club, and received the 25-Year Alcoa Award. He is survived by his daughters, Amy (husband, Henry) Totman and Denise (husband, Joe) Chaney, both of Lolita; sister, Hope Alberty of Pasadena; brother, Pierce (wife, Floy) Thedford of Edna and Gary (wife, Sarah) Thedford of Lolita; grandchildren, Dylan Totman, Kylie Totman, Jace Chaney and Nate Chaney. Dorothy Ann Thedford, 74, formerly of Lolita, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was born to the late Roey and Thelma Thedford on April 24, 1945 in Lolita. Dorothy worked for several restaurants in the area. She is survived by her sister; Nadine Koch of LaWard, brother Donald Thedford of Lolita and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, brother; Fred Thedford and sister Allie Jane Thedford Roberson. Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thedford had been employed as a transportation coordinator with Alcoa until her retirement on Aug. 1, 1944, after 30 years of service. Edna—June Wanita Reoh Thedford, 74, of Edna, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005. She was born May 22, 1931, in San Perlita, to the late Harry and Gladys Stafford Roah. Edna—Larkin Thomas Thedford, 77, of Edna, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008. Larkin was born on June 7, 1931, in Lolita, to the late Blanche and W. B. Thedford. He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Thedford, and his sister, Rita Gay Wells. He is survived by his foster brother, Bubba Browning. He was a graduate of Lolita High School. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University, he proudly served his country as a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. After two years, he came home to attend the University of Texas to obtain his law degree. He was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. He worked one year in the Navasota District Attorney private office. In 1957, he returned home to practice law in Edna, where he also served as Jackson County judge two different terms. An attorney by profession, Larkin had many different hobbies and interests that filled his free time. He always had a zest for learning anything new. He love raising cattle and running heavy machinery. He loved his church and his spiritual life was one of great trust, faith, and belief in God. As a devout Baptist he attended weekly worship and was always there when the church or people needed him. It gave him pleasure to help people. Throughout his lifetime he had enjoyed and loved his family and friends, especially his “Whataburger Buddies.” He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa.” He was preceded in death by his wife, June. He is survived by his two children and their spouses: Mike and Betsy Crane and Lisa and Quint Burris. He has five grandchildren: Larkin Burris, Brenna Crane Dixon, Camey Crane, Logan Crane, and William Halepaska Jr. He has four nieces and nephews: Bryant Thedford, Rhonda Soileau, Frances Wells Stave, and Frank Wells Jr. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p. m. Lolita—Roswell Eugene Thedford, 51, of Lolita died Tuesday in a Ganado hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Lolita with the Rev. Jimmy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of Slavik Funeral Home. Mr. Thedford was born Sept. 29, 1931, at Lolita. He was a son of the late Quinton Roswell Thedford, and his mother, Mrs. Gene Thedford. He had been employed by Alcoa since 1950 and was in the Civil Maintenance Department. He was a member and deacon in the Lolita First Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Mary Barbara Thedford of Lolita; three sons, Curtis, Charles and Steven, all of Lolita; two sisters, Wanda Harvey of Palacios and Hope Alberty of Pasadena; and three brothers, Pierce of Edna and Dennis and Gary, both of Lolita.

Olive Baptist Church. Sammy Tise was born March 23, 1934 in Eagle Lake, Texas to Lee “Doc” and Etta Mae Kessler Tise. He was raised by his Grandmother, Nettie Tise, and an uncle, Roy Tise. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother and uncle as well as two brothers, Charles Roy “Buddy” Tise and infant James Ray Tise. Still surviving are Sammy’s three other brothers, Bobby Earl Tise, Joe Tise and Clarence Lee Tise and two sisters, Nettie Elizabeth Tise Barfield and Gracie Jean Tise Pearson as well as host of inlaws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Sammy is also survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Joann Smith Tise. They were wed on June 22, 1956. Sammy and Barbara were blessed with two children, Kathy Joann and Bertice Lee. Kathy lives in Edna with her husband, Al Miska and their children, Samantha Joann Miska and Layci Jayne Miska. Bert and his wife, La’Arnie O’Neal Tise, reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico with their children, Steven Gregory Tise and Joshua Michael Tise. The Tises were also honored to have a Norwegian exchange student “son” who lived with them from 1976-1977. Geir Eriksen of Kongsvinger, Norway lives with his wife Ellen Mette and their two boys, Sindre and Tord. After graduation from Eagle Lake High School, Mr. Tise began working for Tenneco Oil Company in 1954 and, with the exception of his service in the United States Army, continued working for Tenneco for 36 years. He retired from Tenneco in September 1990. Sammy was appointed as Justice of the peace, Lavaca County, precinct 1 in 1995 and continued to serve as Justice of the Peace until June 1997. Serving his country from 1956-19062, Sammy served in the United States Armed Forces. He was a member of the 62nd Military Police Highway Patrol and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4. In August 1966 Sammy earned Associates in Arts degree and a certificate of Business Administration from San Jacinto Junior College. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas in August 1973. After retirement, Mr. Tise received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Houston, Victoria, Texas in 1993. Sammy founded Tise Genealogical Research and published numerous volumes of cemetery records in Lavaca, Aransas and Wharton counties. His most celebrated work, however, was Texas County Sheriffs. In addition to being an accomplished historian and author, Sammy Tise was active in many community and church organizations including Future Farmers of America, student scholarship programs, the Scottish Rite Masons and was an honorary lifetime member of the LaPorte, Texas Police Reserves and the Texas Sheriff’s Association. He was active in Lavaca County Crime Stoppers, and was a volunteer for St. Nicholas Ministries and Lavaca Assistance Ministry Body (L. A. M. B.) in Hallettsville, Texas. Mr. Tise was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hallettsville, Texas form 1980 – 2001 and joined St. Paul Lutheran Church after moving at Edna in 2001. While at St. Peter, Sam was on the church council and various other committees and organizations. Sammy was called to his Heavenly home on January 9, 2003. Services are under the direction of Kubena Funeral Home (782-3271). Visitation with family will be at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hallettsville, Texas on Saturday, January 11 from 7 – 9 PM. Services will be Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 2:00 PM, also at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Graveside Service: 5 PM Sunday, January 12, 2003 at Red Bluff Cemetery, Lolita, Texas. Pall Bearers will be Fred Wilson, Harvey Renger, Jr., MD., Wayne Dupree, Bob Anderson, Leonard Perkins and Luther Loring. Honorary Pall Bearers are members of the 62nd Military Police Highway Patrol. EDNA - Evelyn Gisler Tittizer went to be with her Lord on March 9, 2019. She was born in Mission Valley, Texas, on November 24, 1925, to Ferdinand Gisler and Edna DeDear Gisler. She was a long-time resident of Edna, Texas, and a member of Edna Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sister, Grace Gisler Bruchmiller, as well as her niece, Kathy Page (Jay) and nephew, Keith Bruchmiller (Debra), and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Tittizer, as well as an infant brother and infant sister. A private family burial will be at 12 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with a memorial service and visitation to follow at 1 PM at Rosewood Chapel. Michael Tristan, Jr. "Michael T." of Ganado died on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the young age of 39. Michael was born on Thursday, December 4, 180 in Ganado, Texas to Michael Tristan, Sr. and Dolores Lesak Tristan. He was the oldest of three children. Michael attended and graduated from Ganado High School in May of 1999. He attended Sul Ross University and Houston Tillotson College in Austin, Texas. On September 23, 2006, Michael married the love of his life; Valeria Villegas. Michael is survived by his loving wife, beautiful daughters; Mariah and Isabel, and handsome son; Michael Tristan, III, also known as "Bubba T". He is also survived by his parents; Michael, Sr. and Dolores Tristan, sister; Vanessa Tristan and brother; Ty Jacob Tristan, Sr. Michael was an active member of the Knights of Columbus of Nada, Texas, he was a member of the1996 State Semifinal Ganado High School Football team competing against Groveton at the Houston Astrodome. He enjoyed coaching Little League and Youth Football. Michael was an avid Houston Astros Fan, Houston Texans fan, and the University of Texas football team. Michael will be missed not only by his family, but others who knew him through work, baseball, softball, football, hunting, fishing, golfing, and competing in barbeque cookoffs. Ray Trojcak Alvin Ray Trojcak, 52 of Cuero, earned his wings on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Alvin was born in Victoria, Texas to Gus and Ann Trojcak on July 6, 1967. Alvin was raised with his brothers and sisters in LaSalle, Texas then later moved to Cuero with his mother where they spent the remainder of their time together. Alvin is survived by his sisters; JoAnn Tullis, Charlotte Janak, and Frances Sulak, his brothers; Gus Trojcak, Billy Trojcak, and Frank Trojcak. Edna—Jeff Turner, 89, of Edna, died Monday in a Victoria hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Surviving are a daughter, Esther Turner of San Antonio; a son, Henry Turner of Edna; a sister, Laureda Billups of Edna; a brother, Rosco Watson of Edna; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Army during World War II and was retired from Mercer Construction Company. He was a former Jackson County deputy sheriff and city of Edna policeman. He was a trustee of Shiloh Baptist Church.
