Bradford Terrell

VICTORIA - Bradford Terrell, 40, of Victoria, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was born July 16, 1974.

He is survived by his father, David Terrell; mother, Carolyn Terrell; daughter, Bre'Shawna Ross; son, Trenton Terrell; sister, Tiffany Terrell; and brothers, Donald McGee, Marcus Terrell, and Terrance Terrell. He also will be missed by his loving Aunties, Sally Smith, Veola Sanders, Sharon Barnes, and Willie B. Bryant; and uncles, Billie Barnes, Phil Barnes, and James Barnes.

Visitation will be at Cook-Butler Funeral Home, 316 N. Peabody St., Edna, on Friday July 25, 2014, from 3pm - 8pm. Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 26, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Edna, 604 Martin Luther King Dr. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Beverly Jean Kelly Thacker

Beverly Jean Kelly Thacker, 56 of Port Lavaca passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was born November 6, 1955 in Tomball, TX to the late James Loy and Hazel Hafer Kelly. Beverly was the manager of a convenience store and when she was not at work she loved crocheting, fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Wayne Thacker of Port Lavaca, daughters, Hope Michelle Becker(Richard ) Hurst of Melissa, TX, Amy ReneeThacker (Thomas) Downes of Beeville; sister Nora Kelly Wright of Victoria, Becky Kelly Maresh of Inez; brother, Brad Kelly of Victoria; grandchildren, Shelby Hurst, Kaleb Hurst, Hayley Hurst, Donovan Downes and Ethan Downes.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marsha; and sister, Pamela Kelly Jones.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 7-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 Am on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Casey Dubose officiating. Graveside services will be 11:30 Am at the Red Bluff Cemetery near Lolita.

Pallbearers are Thomas Downes, David Alcantar, Joshua Matson, Joseph Matson, Westely Kelly and Chief Richard L. Hurst. Honorary pallbearers will be all nieces and nephews, Travis Conrad and Gerald Dickey.

Darrell Thedford

Lolita—Funeral services for Darrell Thedford, 50, of Lolita will be held at 10:30 a. m. Monday at the Lolita Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Smith and the Rev. Jerry Guthrie officiating.

Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of the Jackson County Funeral Service.

Mr. Thedford was born Feb. 16, 1930 in Corpus Christi but spent most of his life in Jackson County. He was a machinist for Alcoa, a veteran of the Air Force in the Korean conflict, and member of the Lolita Baptist Church. He died Saturday in a Edna hospital after a sudden illness.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Thedford; his mother, Mrs. Blanche McMillan, both of Lolita, daughter Rhonda Thedford and son, Bryant Thedford, both of Lolita; a sister, Mrs. Frank Wells of Edna, and two brothers, Larkin Thedford of Edna and Harold Browning of Port Lavaca.

Pallbearers will be Jay and Burnell Nowlin, Bill and Ronnie McFeron, Roswell and Fred Thedford.

Lillie Thedford

Lolita—Lillie Thelma Thedford, 75, of Lolita died Tuesday in a Port Lavaca hospital following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Lolita with the Rev. Roy Meadows, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Lolita Cemetery under direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thedford, a Jackson County native, was born in Victoria March 15, 1911. She was  a housewife, member of First Baptist Church of Lolita and the Womens Missionary Union.

Mrs. Thedford is survived by her husband, Roey S. Thedford of Lolita, whom she married in Lolita on Aug. 17, 1930.

Surviving, in addition to husband, are three daughters, Jane Roberson of Edna, Dorothy Ann Thedford of Port Lavaca and Nadine Koch of La Ward; two sons, Fred M. Thedford of Victoria and Donald Thedford of Lolita; a sister, Ruby Inez Leath of Humble; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Darin Thedford, Larkin T. Thedford, Pierce Van Thedford, Dennis Thedford, Howard Wayne Moody and Benny Fox.

Named honorary pallbearers are William Thedford, Vernon Thedford, Alvin “Doc” Moody, Charlie Thedford and Don Crawford.

Minnie Young Thedford

Edna--Minnie Young Thedford, age 78, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She was a native of Edna, Texas and lived most of her life in Lolita, Texas. She was born on January 8, 1937 to Ted and Nora Young of Edna, Texas. She married Darrell Bryant Thedford in March of 1962. She was a graduate of Edna High School and The Victoria College.

She spent many years working in the oil and gas industry and volunteering at her church.

She was a very devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She dearly loved all of her former co-workers, friends, church members, and her monthly bridge club ladies. As of late, she loved all of her caregivers and enjoyed dearly the brightness they brought into her life each day.

She is survived by her son, Bryant Thedford and wife Deanna of Seabrook, Texas ; daughter, Rhonda Thedford Soileau and husband Carl of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Charles Bryant Soileau and Claire Susanne Soileau.

She is preceded in death by her parents, T. J. and Nora Young; husband, Darrell; and sister Mary Lea Mueller.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Lolita, Texas. Funeral Service will take place at First Baptist Church, Lolita, Texas followed by Burial at Red Bluff Cemetery. Reverend Gary Thedford will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Pierce Thedford, Curtis Thedford, Charlie Thedford, Pierce Thedford, Jr., Charles Bryant Soileau, and Carl Soileau.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Lolita, Texas or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Quinton Thedford

Lolita—Funeral services for Quinton Toswell Thedford, 77, of Lolita will be held at 4 p. m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Lolita, with the Rev. Larry Lancaster and the Rev. Dale Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of the Slavik Funeral Home of Edna.

Mr. Thedford was born Oct. 22, 1901 in Smith County and came to Jackson County at the age of 14. He was a son of the late Larkin and Allie Murray Thedford, and he and his wife Eugenia were married Dec. 22, 1930 in Edna. He was a deacon in the Lolita First Baptist Church, a former county employee, having retired in 1969. He died Sunday in a Ganado hospital.

Surviving are his wife, of Lolita, two daughters, Wanda Harvey of Palacios and Hope Aberty of Pasadena; four sons, Roswell, Dennis and Gary of Lolita and Pierce of Edna; four sisters, Mrs. Lyda Gaudin of Brenham, Mrs. Rozie Moody of Lolita, Mrs. Helen Moody of Lolita, Mrs. Helen Absher of Houston and Mrs. Larkin Christensen of El Campo; two brothers, Roey and Vernon of Lolita and 14 grandchildren.

Roey S. Thedford

Lolita—Roey S. Thedford, 85, of Lolita, died in a Port Lavaca hospital Friday, July 3, 1992, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 15, 1907, in Seagoville, Dallas County, to the late Larkin and Agnes Allie Murray Thedford and married the late Lillie Thelma Fox on Aug. 17, 1930, in Lolita Baptist Parsonage. He was a farmer/rancher and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lolita. He moved to Jackson when he was a small boy and lived there most of his life.

Survivors: daughters, Allie Jane Roberson of Edna, Dorothy Ann Thedford of Port Lavaca and Nadine Koch of La Ward; sons, Fred M. Thedford of Lago Vista and Don Thedford of Port Lavaca; sisters, Rozie Moody of Lolita, Helen Abshire of Houston and Larkin Christianson of El Campo; brother, Bernon Thedford of Lolita; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services 2:30 p. m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Lolita, the Rev. Nathan Smalley officiating.

Burial in Lolita Cemetery, Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 782-2152.

William Thedford Dies Suddenly at Work Monday Night

Rites were held at the Baptist Church at Lolita Wednesday at 3 p. m. for William Bryant Thedford, 47, farmer, who died suddenly of a heart attack while working with his tractor in the field Monday at 6 p. m. Burial was in the Red Bluff Cemetery under the direction of the Slavik Funeral Home.

Mr. Thedford was born in Smith County Feb. 3, 1905. He had been residing in the Lolita area for a number of years. His parents are the late Larkin Thedford and Mrs. Allie Murry Thedford, who resides at Lolita.

Surviving are his wife, his mother, three sons, Darrell Thedford of Portland, Ore., L. T. Thedford of San Antonio, and an adopted son, Harold Melvin Browning, also of San Antonio; and nine brothers and sisters, Violet Thedford of San Antonio, Lydia Gaudin and Helen Absher of Houston, Rozie Moody, Quinton Thedford, Roey and Vernon Thedford of Lolita, Larken M. Christensen of El Campo, and Marvin Pope Thedford of Rockdale.

Account of Death Of Bryan Thedford

The recent death of Bryan Thedford, 47, came as a shock to the town of Lolita and his many friends of Jackson County. He had lived all of his life except a few years of childhood in that community and was widely known as a farmer and driller for various oil contractors. Mr. Thedford was a member of a large family, being survived by four brothers and five sisters. His mother, Mrs. L. Thedford, is still living in Lolita.

While driving his tractor near his farm on Oct. 20, Mr. Thedford died from a heart attack. Few people of the community realized that he had been suffering from any ill health. He was very active both in his occupation as well as the affairs of his community and church. He became a member of the Lolita Baptist Church at the age of 14, and was a member of the board of deacons of that church at the time of his death. Services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Raymond Drews, and burial was in the Red Bluff Cemetery.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Blanche Browning Thedford, there are three children surviving: the daughter, Rita Gay Thedford, a student at San Marcos State Teachers College; two sons, L. T. and Darrell, both in the service, the former at Officers’ Candidate School in San Antonio. Darrell has been stationed in the Air Force at Portland, Oregon. Also a nephew, Bubba Browning, has lived with the family for several years.

His brothers are Vernon, Reuey, and Quinton of Lolita and Pope Thedford of Rockdale. Sisters include Miss Violet Thedford, Mrs. Lydia Gaudin, Mrs. Rozie Moody, Mrs. Larkin Mae Christenson, and Mrs. Helen Absher.

Mary Jo Goodman Thomas

Mary Jo Goodman Thomas, 84, of Houston, TX, was born February 4, 1926, in Ganado, TX, to Floyd H. Goodman and L.A. Battles Goodman. She died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Sugar Land Rehab, Sugar Land, TX. She attended Ganado High School and was a member of First Baptist Church, Ganado, TX. She was a Christian, and she loved her family very much. Graveside services will be scheduled at Red Bluff Cemetery, Vanderbilt, TX.

Survivors include three daughters, Tana Sue Derrick and husband, Raymond, of Missouri City, TX, Joan Renate Thomas of Houston, TX, and Randi Joy Abbott and husband, Greg, of Alvin, TX; brother, F.H. Goodman of Lumberton, TX; five grandchildren, Kip Derrick and wife, Kelley, of East Bernard, TX, Lisa Derrick Bones and husband, Lyle, of Alvin, TX, Scott Derrick and wife, Stefanie, of Houston, TX, Nicholas Abbott and wife, Joanne, of Japan, and Grace Abbott of Alvin, TX; five great grandchildren, Baine Derrick, Chelsea Derrick, Austin Derrick, Garrett Bones, and James Bones; four nephews, Fred Goodman and Dr. Reggie Goodman, both of Lumberton, TX, Ronnie Goodman of Baytown, TX, and Kenneth Goodman of Edna, TX; niece, Shelly Moore of Ganado, TX, and other family members. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne E. Thomas; sister, Pauline Moore; brother, James "Buddy" Goodman; nephew, David Moore; and niece, Marla Kay Moore.

Carla Ann Thompson

LOLITA - Carla Ann Thompson, 61, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. She was born June 26, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Carl and Margret Odom.

Carla is survived by her, sons, Chandler (wife Sharon) Thompson and Eric Lee Thompson, sisters, Wanda McLaughlin and Debbie Pittman, two brothers, Nelson and Steven Odom, and 4 grandchildren.

Preceded in death are her parents and a brother, Stan Odom.

Graveside services will be Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Lolita Cemetery.

Floria Lee Thompson

CORPUS CHRISTI - Floria Lee Thompson died November 18, 2013, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was 82.

Alberto Tijerina

Alberto Tijerina Sr., 92, of 1006 E. Power, a resident of Victoria for the past 30 years, died at 7:30 p. m. Saturday in a local hospital after a week’s illness.

Mr. Tijerina was born Dec. 31, 1882 in Brownsville. A retired farmer, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and formerly resided in Edna.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Monday at Artero Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Tuesday at our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with the Rev. Juan Ayerbe officiating. Burial will be in Edna Latin American Cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Estefana Camacho of Lovington, N. M.; Mrs. Felipa Cavazos, Mrs. Maria De La Garza and Mrs. Louisa Berlanga, all of Victoria; four sons, Alberto Tijerina Jr., Demetrio and Juan Tijerina, all of Victoria, and Dionicio Tijerina of Edna; 38 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers, and grandsons, will be Martin Camacho, Leonardo De La Garza, Frank Cavazos, Jessie Tijerina, Johnny Tijerina and Dionicio Tijerina Jr.

Dionicio Tijerina Jr.

Edna—Dionicio Tijerina, Jr., 70, of Edna, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014. He was born Jan. 22, 1944 in Edna to the late Dionicio and Maria Garza Tijerina.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Morris and husband John, Mary Canales, Vicky Cummings and husband Ron; two sons, Michael Tijerina and wife Jennifer, Tommy Tijerina and wife Suzanne; one sister, Janie Perez and husband John; two brothers, Jams and wife Lorrane, Johnny and wife Emma Tijerina; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Julie Moreno Tijerina; three brothers, Martin, Emilo and Robert Tijerina; sister, Regine Tijerina; and a granddaughter, Makenzie Tijerina.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p. m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p. m. on Tuesday Feb. 24, 2014 at the Slavik Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 10 a. m. on Wednesday Feb. 26, 2014, at Slavik Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Petering officiating. Interment will be at Edna Latin American Cemetery.

Dionicio Tijerina Sr.

Edna—Dionicio Tijerina Sr., 81, of Edna, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003.

He was born March 11, 1921, in Sinton, to the late Albert Sr. and Regina Tijerina. He was a Catholic.

Survivors: daughter, Janie Perez of Victoria; sons, Dionicio Tijerina Jr. and Johnny Tijerina, both of Vanderbilt, Robert Tijerina of Port Lavaca and James Tijerina of Buffalo; sisters, Louisa Berlanga and Mary De La Garza, both of Victoria; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: wife, Mary Tijerina; daughter, Regina Tijerina; sons, Martin Tijerina Sr. and Emilo Tijerina; parents; sisters, Stephine Camacho, Felipa Cavazos and Rosa Tijerina; and brothers, Albert Tijerina Sr., Demetrio Tijerina Sr., Juan Tijerina Sr., and Victor Tijerina.

Maria G. Tijerina

Edna—Maria G. Tijerina, 76, of Edna died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997.

She was born April 21, 1921, in Placedo to the late Emilio and Juanita M. Garza. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors: husband, Dionicio Tijerina Sr.; daughters, Janie T. Perez of Victoria; sons, Dionicio Tijerina Jr. and Johnny G. Tijerina, both of Vanderbilt, Martin Tijerina of Bay City, Robert Tijerina of Port Lavaca and James G. Tijerina of Jewett; sisters, Andrea Flores, Lenora Salinas and Hacinta Santellana, all of Angleton; brothers, Joe Garza of Edna, Frank Garza of Point Comfort and Lawrence Garza of Freeport; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Tijerina and son, Emilio G. Tijerina.

Martin Tijerina

Bay City—Martin Tijerina, 53, of Bay City, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998.

He was born Jan. 21, 1945, in Edna, to Dionicio Tijerina Sr., of Edna and the late Maria Tijerina. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Survivors: wife, Mamie Ramirez Tijerina; daughters, Janie Tijerina and Gloria Ramirez, both of Bay City; son, Martin Tijerina Jr., of Bay City; father, sister, Janie Perez of Victoria; brothers, James Tijerina Sr., of Jewitt, Juan Tijerina and Dionicio Tijerina Jr., both of Vanderbilt, and Robert Tijerina of Port Lavaca; and seven grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p. m. today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 10 a. m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, the Rev. Edward Boren officiating.

Robert Tijerina

PORT LAVACA - Robert Tijerina, 64, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2011. He was born on May 22, 1947 in Edna to the late Maria Garza and Dionicio Tijerina Sr. He grew up in Jackson County, and at the time of his death he was residing at the Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
He is survived by his sisters, Janie T. Perez and husband, John A., of Victoria; brothers, Dionicio Tijerina, Jr. of Vanderbilt, James Tijerina and wife, Lorraine, of Buffalo, and Johnny Tijerina and wife, Emma, of Victoria; sister-in-law, Mamie Tijerina of Bay City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Regina Tijerina; brothers, Martin Tijerina and Emilio Tijerina; and sister-in-law, Julie Tijerina.
 
Burial will follow mass at the Latin American Cemetery in Edna.
 
Pallbearers will be John A. Perez, Jr., Martin Tijerina, Jr., Christopher M. Tijerina, Michael Tijerina, Gilbert Tijerina, Christopher Tijerina and Patrick Tijerina.
 
Honorary pallbearers are his brothers, Dionicio Tijerina Jr., James Tijerina, Johnny Tijerina and John A. Perez Sr.

Clarence Lee Tise

Edna--Clarence Lee Tise, 71, of Edna entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 26. 2012. Clarence was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on January 25, 1941 to Lee "Doc" Tise and Etta Mae Kessler Tise.

Clarence grew up in and around Eagle Lake, Texas. He graduated from Garwood High School then later attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas. Clarence worked in the gas and chemical refinery industry his entire career. He retired from Celanese Chemical Company as the Director of Maintenance after many years of loyal service.

His life revolved around his family and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved doing both with his son, Johnny. Clarence assisted with many outdoor activities for the handicapped as well as disabled veterans and Wounded Warriors organization. He was passionate about gardening and he and his wife, Barbara, shared the bounty of their garden with family and friends.

His large family brought him great joy. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Etta Tise and all of his brothers; Sammy Tise, Charles Roy "Buddy" Tise, Bobby Earl Tise, Joe Tise and James Ray Tise, who died as an infant.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Smith Tise, whom he married June 18, 2005. Clarence and Barbara were the best of friends, enjoying football, fishing, and gardening together. He was very proud of their blended family.

Also surviving are daughters; Mellony Jean Tise Schein and her son Stephen. Tina Lynette Tise Hopkins (Robbie) and their children, Kaci, Derrick, Jennifer, Robert and Rebecca. Son; Johnny Wayne Tise (Sonya) and their children, Trevor, Madeline and Leeann. Step daughter; Kathy Joan Tise Miska (Al) and their children, Samantha, and Layci. Step son; Bertice Lee Tise (La Arnie) and their children, Steven and Joshua. Sisters; Nettie Elizabeth Tise Barfield (Clarence "Nuna") and their sons, Jack and Michael. Gracie Jean Tise Pearson (Roger) and their daughter Carolyn. There are also a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and family who loved Clarence dearly.

Pallbearers will be Derrick La Foy, Darrell Tise, Carey Tise, Doug Traweck, Jack Barfield, and Doug Tise. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Barfield, Charles Tise, Donald Tise, and Ronald Tise.

Visitation will be held at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, Texas on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5 pm ~ 7 pm. Funeral service will also be at Oaklawn Funeral Home on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2 pm with Reverend Robert Krause of First Baptist Church of Edna, officiating. Burial will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita, Texas.

A. C. Tones Sr.

Sinton—A. C. Tones Sr., 77, of Sinton and formerly of Ganado, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998.

He was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Morales, to the late Will and Cornelia Haynes Tones. He was a retired veteran of World War II. He was a member of Oakmon United Methodist Church of Ganado.

Survivors: son, A. C. Tones Sr. [Jr.?], of Sinton; sisters, Ida Allen of Sinton and Josephine Reece of Houston; brother, Jack Tones of Yoakum; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 9 a. m. to 6 p. m. Friday at Cook-Butler Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 10 a. m. Saturday at Scruggs United Methodist Church, the Rev. Lawrence Washington officiating.

Alex Tones

Edna—Funeral services for Alex Tones, 72, of Edna who died last Thursday at a Victoria hospital will be at 1 p. m. Wednesday at Cook-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Edna. The Rev. Gary Roberts will officiate.

Burial will be Chase Cemetery in Morales, a community near Edna.

Mr. Tones was born Aug. 7, 1911, in Morales, the son of Will and Cornelia Haynes Tones. He had been a laborer for Central Power and Light in Edna.

He is survived by two brothers, Jack Tones of Yoakum, Ace Tones of Ganado; five sisters, Mrs. Velma Hines of Edna, Mrs. Ida Allen of Sinton, Mrs. Emma Mulkey of San Antonio, Mrs. Josephine Reeves of Houston, Isabel Clay of Bay City.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Hines, Leonard Watson, Boyd Clay, Robert Clay.

Jack Tones Sr.

Yoakum—Jack Tones Sr., 80, of Yoakum, died Thursday, May 25, 2000.

He was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Morales, to the late Will Tones and Cornelia Haynes. He was a retired fisherman and a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Sweet Home.

Survivors: wife, Claudia D. Shankle Tones; daughter, Thelma Tones Montgomery of Houston; sons, Campanella Tones of Houston and Jack Tones Jr. of Hampton, Va.; stepson, Ersker L. Adams of Houston; sisters, Ida Allen of Sinton and Josephine Reese of Houston; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: parents.

Otis Tones

Edna—Funeral services for Otis Tones, 60, of Edna, who died Tuesday in a Houston hospital, will be held at 11 a. m. Monday at Cook-Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. C L. Griffin officiating.

Burial will be in Chase Cemetery at Morales.

Mr. Tones was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Jackson County and served in the U. S. Air Force for 14 years. He was the son of the late Will and Cornelia Haynes.

Survivors include five sons, Otis Tones Jr. of Capitola, Calif.; Tony, Chester A., Randi G. and Bruce S. Tones, all of San Diego, Calif.; five sisters, Velma Hines of Edna, Mrs. Ida Allen of Sinton, Mrs. Emma Mulkey of San Antonio, Mrs. Isabel Clay of Bay City and Mrs. Josephine Reese of Houston; three brothers, Alex Tones of Pasadena, Calif., Jack Tones of Yoakum and A. C. Tones of Ganado; and 19 grandchildren.

Guadalupe Torres

Edna—Guadalupe Torres, 49, of Edna, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008. She was born on Sept. 24, 1958 to the late Janie Sanchez Morales and Kelly Morales of Ganado.

Guadalupe is survived by her father; husband, Jose Torres of Edna; sons, Joe Torres of Victoria and Israel Morales of Bloomington; sisters, Irma Morales of Dallas and Sarah Hernandez of Grand Prairie; brother, Kelly Mario Morales of Edna; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Torres, Destiny Torres, Luis Enrique Morales, and Alexandria Morales.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by her mother.

Visitation was held from 6 – 8 p. m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. today, Sept. 11, at 2:00 p. m., also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Edna Latin American Cemetery. The Rev. Leonardo Valencia will be officiating.

Mrs. Lucille Traylor

Edna--Mrs. Lucille Strane Traylor, 75, of Burnet died Friday at her home in Burnet following a sudden illness.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Saturday in the Strane Cemetery near Morales with the Rev. Russell Moon officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jackson County Funeral Service.

Mrs. Strane was born Oct. 18, 1905 in Morales and resided in Jackson County many years. She was a retired realtor.

She is survived by one brother, S. A. Strane of Edna.

Mr. O. O. Traylor Died In Austin

Monday morning at 1:00 o’clock, at Austin, Mr. O. O. Traylor, a native of Jackson County, and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Traylor, pioneer and prominent Jackson County citizens, passed away following a protracted illness.

The funeral service was held in San Antonio Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock, and the remains were laid to rest in that city.

Otho Traylor was at one time one of the leading business men of Edna. He entered the tailoring business here before he had reached mans’ estate and later he erected the brick building on Main street, now occupied by the Edna Food Market, to house his expanding dry goods business.

Between 16 and 18 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Traylor moved to San Antonio. A few years later his health began failing.

Otho Traylor was a man of great energy and keen business judgment. He was a man who made friends easily, and a man who enjoyed the full confidence of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Carraway Traylor, one son, Oliver, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jolly of San Antonio; also by two sisters, Mesdames Gideon Egg and Ida Davenport of Edna and one brother, Karl Traylor of Donna.

We join the other friends of the family in extending sympathy in their time of sorrow.

Rites Held Here for Mrs. Fernanda C. Trevino, 82

Mrs. Fernanda C. Trevino, 82, a widow, was buried in the Edna Latin American Cemetery Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. She died Friday, Feb 26, at her home in Edna.

Services were held from Slavik Funeral Home and St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. B. J. Janacek officiating. Rosary was recited at her home on Friday night.

Pallbearers were Hector Panel DeLeon, Enrique G. Gomez, Carlos Garcia, Felisiano Cavazos, Juan Figrova and Joe Salinas.

Mrs. Trevino was a native of Mexico, having been born on May 30, 1876, and she had made her home in Jackson County since 1929. She resided at 411 Yubadam Street.

Survivors include these sons and daughters, Selvestre of Pontiac, Michigan; Juan, of Edna; Mrs. Victoria Figrova of Brownsville and Mrs. Petra Rios of Inez.

Raymond M. Trevino

El Campo—Raymond M. Trevino, 71, of El Campo, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in Victoria. He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Boling to the late Frank and Victoria Martinez Trevino. He was a caretaker for Memory Gardens of Edna Cemetery and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

He is survived by her daughter, Miranda Rivera of El Campo; sons, Micky Trevino, Albert Trevino, and Tracy Trevino, all of El Campo, and Raymond Garcia of Edna; sister, Josie Falcon of San Antonio; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a. m. with funeral service to follow at 10 a. m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Burial will be at Edna Latin American Cemetery.

Edna Youth Killed as Auto Flips – Ruben Trevino Jr.

Edna—Ruben Trevino Jr., 15, of 508 Washington Sr., was killed early Wednesday morning when his car overturned on a curve on Farm Road 1822 at a point .3 of a mile south of the Edna city limits.

Trevino was partially thrown from the vehicle but his head was pinned beneath it, officers said. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Ganado hospital. The accident occurred at 12:45 a. m.

Not Injured

A passenger, Abel Santenella, 15, also of Edna, was thrown from the front to the back seat but was not injured.

Highway Patrolman Bert Fuller of Edna said Trevino was traveling north in a 1969 model sedan when the car ran off the right side of the road at the approach of a curve. He said the vehicle came back on the roadway, went into a broadside skid, struck a dirt embankment near a culvert, flipped 60 feet in the air and came to rest on its top.

Fuller was assisted at the scene by City Police Officers John Henry Long and Will Turner

Funeral services for young Trevino will be held at 3 p. m. Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Flanigan officiating. Burial will be in Edna Latin American Cemetery under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

A Rosary was recited Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel.

Trevino was born July 31, 1954, in Edna.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Eva Trevino; five sisters, Mrs. Anita Figirova, Mrs. Rachel Vernea and Misses Janie, Delia and Irma Trevino; a brother, Joe Raymond Trevino, and half-brother, Robert Garcia, all of Edna.

EDNA - Ruben Martinez Trevino, 41-year-old native of Jackson County, died Friday in a Houston hospital.

He was born on June 16, 1923, in Edna.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna with the Rev. Stanley Petra officiating. Burial will be in Edna Cemetery with Slavik Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Trevino. his mother, Mrs. Victoria Martinez; five daughters, Jamie, Rachel, Irma, Marie and Delfa Trevino and two sons, Joe Raymond and Ruben Trevino Jr.

Edna--Jack Demsey Tucker, 82, of Edna, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 in Lake Jackson. He was born July, 14, 1929, to the late Cyrus and Ica Lena Purvis Tucker.

He is survived by his daughter, Lydia Tucker Summers of Kerrville; son, Jack B. Tucker of Edna; sisters, Lena Mae Milleson of Port Lavaca, Mable Bobbitt of Markham, and Gladys McWhirter of Houston; brothers, Rodney Tucker of Blessing and William Clyde Tucker of Brookhaven, Miss.; 5 grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Joyce Standifer Tucker.
