Ruben Sanchez, 73, of Edna, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020. He is survived by his siblings; Juanita Figuerova, Nova DeLeon, Rosie Chanak, Sammy Sanchez and Gilbert Sanchez, several nieces and nephews, he has been preceded in death by his parents; Roldon and Guadalupe Sanchez. The family had a private family service on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Edna Latin American Cemetery. Services had been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 209 N. Ganado—Charles S. Schafer Jr., 48, of Ganado, died Sunday in his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1921. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Monday at Psencik Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Hall officiating. Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Rozner of Ganado; a son, Charlie of Ganado; a brother, Robert Schafer of Vidor; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Cooper of Orange; Mrs. Edith Putnam of Vidor; and two grandchildren.

Ganado—Mrs. Marion Ellen Schafer, 46, died at 8:30 p. m. Monday in a Ganado hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1919. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at First Methodist Church in Ganado, with the Rev. E. E. Reeves, pastor of Yoakum Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, C. S. Ann Brogren Schulze began her earthly journey on May 16, 1921. She completed her journey on Feb. 26, 2020. She was the daughter of Simon Walter and Agness Malmberg Brogren. They and her husband, Wesley Schulze, and her only sibling, Frances Kennon, preceded her in death. She was a most loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two children, Janet Barger and John Schulze (Dr. Leah Larson); three grandchildren, Jennifer (Harold) Williams, Evan Larson-Schulze, and Jonathan Barger; great-grandson West Williams; and the many loving friends blessed by her beautiful smile, positive attitude, and abiding faith. She was a brilliant student, valedictorian of her high school senior class, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior at the University of Texas. She married the Rev. Wesley N. Schulze on Sep. 1, 1943, and remained a blessing to his Methodist ministry throughput more than 40 years. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2013. Ann had a fruitful career and found fulfillment as a public school teacher for 26 years, the last 10 of which as a Reading Specialist at Kreuger Middle School in the NEISD. She remained active in retirement, helping organize the new North Shore United Methodist Church at Canyon Lake and created and directed the popular Readers Theater at Morningside Meadows Retirement Community. Ann was also active in the congregations her pastor husband served, including participation in Sunday school, United Methodist Women and Vacation Church School. She also worked on 12 Volunteers in Mission projects from Alaska to Brazil and Missouri to Mexico, volunteered with Kairos Prison Ministry, and took part in a Walk to Emmaus. Ann and Wes were avid travelers, visiting areas all around the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as China, Russia, Peru, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, and much of Europe. Memorial donations may be made to Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, the San Antonio Food Bank, or the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Edna—Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Pagel Scurlock, 70, of Victoria, will be held at 4:30 p. m. Thursday from the Jackson County Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Phillip Riley of Ganado officiating. Burial will be in the Ganado City Cemetery under direction of the Jackson County Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Avry Walker, Otto Vann, Johnny Price, John Henry Long, Clyde Freeman and Claude Freeman. Mrs. Scurlock was born Aug. 17, 1903 in Bay City, but lived in Ganado many years. She died Wednesday in a Victoria hospital. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elmer G. Moore of San Antonio and Mrs. Helen Pelt of Houston; and a brother, Louis D. Pagel of Edna.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sibyl Peters Shofner, on Thursday, August 20, at the First Christian church of Ganado with the Rev. Earl J. Prugh of the First Christian Church of El Campo officiating. Interment was at the Ganado City Cemetery. Mrs. Shofner was born on August 8, 1927 in Yorktown, Texas and came to Jackson County at the age of four months. She lived in Houston the past few years, but had just recently moved to Lolita where her husband, Glen, had planned to engage in farming with his father-in-law. Sibyl completed High School in Lolita and attended Durham's Business College in Austin. Pallbearers were Mrs. Shofner's cousins: Carlman Rau and Garland Rau of Nordheim, and Frank Chamrad II of San Antonio, also her two brothers-in-law: Owen Shofner of Pasadena and J. B. Shofner of Lufkin. Mrs. Sibly Peters Shofner is survived by her husband, Glen, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Peters of Lolita. Weldon Elmer Shutt, 97, was called home on
June 23, 2020. He was born November 28, 1922 in Edna, Texas to
the late John Powers Shutt and Lydia Spree. Weldon joined the
Army Air Corps in 1942 and trained at various military bases
across the U.S. His last assignment was at Fort Bliss, TX where
he trained as a crew member on a B-29 bomber. After his time in
service, he became a small business owner in El Paso Texas. In
1966, he relocated to Houston with his four children where he
worked for Trees Inc. He married Ernestine Norris Budd in 1973.
After retiring, he and Ernestine moved back to Jackson County in
1985 where they tirelessly worked at making their own Tierra
Prometida. In retirement, he also loved working with his
brothers on pecan farms which were put under his care. Weldon’s
life-long witness for Christ was simple but effective… A life
truly well-done.

Judy Sisco, 73 of Edna, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021. Judy was born in Grantsburg, Johnson County, Illinois on Friday, October 27, 1944 to George Rosewell VanCleve and Ruby Marie Crenshaw. Judy is survived by her children: Laura Smith Davis, Rebecca Watts, Richard Slaydon and James Slaydon and his wife Theresa, her sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, also her brother Kenneth Ray VanCleve and sister Elaine Hubbell. There will be a Service on Thursday, July 1, 2021 beginning with a visitation at 12:30 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:30 pm at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Salem Cemetery in Ezzell Texas with Pastor Larry Green officiating. Ganado--Funeral services were to be held at 11 a. m. today at Psencik Funeral Home for Mrs. Annie Francis Skarpa, 66. Rev. Jerry Lemon was to officiate, with interment in the Ganado City Cemetery. Mrs. Skarpa was born July 9, 1897 in Wesley, Texas. She died Wednesday in the hospital here. She is survived by her husband, William Skarpa of Ganado; two sons, Jerry of Lolita and Ernest of Palacios; one daughter, Emily Heitman of Rosenberg; two sisters, Francis Mikeska of Bryberville, Texas, and Sadie Persky of Houston; three brothers, Alvin and Lad Janes of Wesley and Charlie of Greenville; and by six grandchildren.

Billy Ray Smith, 79 of Ganado passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 15, 2020 beginning at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado. Burial will immediately follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo, TX. Billy was born on Thursday, April 10, 1941 in El Campo, Texas to Clifford and Annie Skalicky Smith. Billy's family moved to Ganado when he was a young boy, and began farming around the Ganado and Cordele area. Billy graduated from Ganado High School in 1959. Billy Ray met the love of his life, Lennis Wilson in the summer of 1962. Within a few months they were engaged, and married in November 1962. By May of 1964 they welcomed their daughter, Shirley Gayle. Billy Ray lived a life of service and devotion. He was a proud rice and row crop farmer, as well as Brangus cattle rancher and breeder. His love of farming and ranching led him to serve on the PCA, First Ag Credit, and Capital Farm Credit for a combined 24 years. He also served on the Jackson County Drainage Board for 7-1/2 years. Billy Ray was a loving and fun spirited father and grandfather. He cherished his time with his family. He enjoyed traveling with his family, showing his grandkids how to build and create things, and sharing the love of farming with his grandson. Billy Ray was a lifelong learner, and enjoyed showing his grandchildren interesting places. He prioritized a solid education for his daughter and grandchildren, and demonstrated this when he was elected for Ganado School Board in 1980, and served for nine years. Billy Ray knew the importance of a good education, and was honored to serve on a school board in a district he graduated from, and raised his daughter through. Billy Ray and Lennis were married for 58 years. Their friendship and love continued to grow throughout their marriage. Billy Ray and Lennis created many adventures while traveling together and seeing new places. The love that Billy and Lennis had at the beginning of their marriage was still evident even up until the very last moments Billy Ray was with Lennis. They shared a jovial relationship that was full of jokes and pranks they played on one another. Their care for each other was what was most admired. Billy Ray was a selfless husband that showed his love for Lennis in unspeakable ways. Billy Ray will be missed as a caring, soft spoken, and wise husband, father, pawpaw, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Billy Ray is preceded in death by his mother and father, Annie and Clifford Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Lennis Smith of Ganado, his daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Roland Orsak of East Bernard, his grandson Jordan Orsak of Redondo Beach, California, his granddaughter Kara Orsak Steward and husband Chase of Orange Grove, Texas, and his great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Dalton and Dallas, and his brother Ronnie Smith. Ganado—James M. Smith, 72, a resident of Ganado for the past 38 years, died at 4:30 a. m. Thursday in Houston Veterans Administration Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p. m. from First Baptist Church in Ganado with the Rev. Jerry Lemon officiating. Burial under direction of Psencik Funeral Home will be in Ganado City Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born July 23, 1892. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Smith of Ganado; three sons, James of Harden, Tex., Billy Ray with the U. S. Francisco " Cisco Kid" Smithwick, Sr., 65, of Ganado passed away today, May 30, 2020. He was born to Emilio and Manuela Smithwick, Sr. on Saturday May 1, 1955 in Bay City, Texas. He recently celebrated his 47 year marriage to his longtime friend and love, Sally Smithwick on March 31st. He had four sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Frank loved and lived for his family, he loved going fishing, gardening, dancing, and simply enjoying life. He enjoyed watching old western movies, spending time outdoors, being at his ranch, and loved looking at the stars. He was a great man, great dad, wonderful grandpa "Pooo" and a hell of a husband. His family loved him very much. He made friends any and everywhere he went and never met a stranger. Frank left impressionable memories on everyone he met. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly Dad. Frank is survived by his wife, Sally Smithwick, his five children, son Frank Smithwick, Jr., daughter ,Sabrina and husband Octavio Valenzuela, son, Christopher and wife Lorena Smithwick, Sr., son Timothy and wife Patricia Smithwick, son, Mark and wife Jessica Smithwick, Sr.. Ganado--Orlinza Sodia, 74, of Ganado died Thursday in a Victoria hospital following a short illness. He was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Jackson County to the late Calvin and Mary Ellen Sodia. He was retired from the Ricebelt Warehouse in Ganado. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p. m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church of Edna with the Rev. L. B. Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the Ganado Community Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home of Edna. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. - 9 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Carol H. Sodia of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Carol Anderson of San Francisco, Calif.; Bonnie Sodia and Betty Hall, both of Sacramento, and Linda Sodia of Daly City, Calif.; two sons, Horace Sodia of Sacramento and Don Albert Sodia of Ganado; two sisters, Leo Bishop and Mary Boston, both of Ganado; a brother, Chester Sodia of El Campo; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Loretta Garcia Soto, age 69, of Edna, Texas went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 12, 2020. She was born on August 4, 1950, in Ganado, Texas, to the late Eusebio Garcia Sr. and Mercedes Robles. Loretta will be remembered for her homemade chicken dressing, and her tamales. She enjoyed being with her grandkids and playing bingo. She had a kind heart and would help anyone she could and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Loretta is survived by her husband Egino “Shorty” Hernandez Soto; her daughters, Michelle M Gonzales (Michael), Frances Gutierrez (Carlos), and Loretta Lynn Ramirez (Robert); her sons, JoJo Soto (Bonnie), Egino Soto Jr. (Heather), Lawrence Rideau (Dorissa) and Mario Ramirez Jr.; her brother, Jimmy Joe Garcia Sr. (Peggy); her sister, Lupe Ramos; her seventeen, grandchildren with one on the way; her seven great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Kacey Wayne Sowell was born on November 24, 1979 at DeTar Hospital in Victoria, Texas, Kacey went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. He is survived by his loving family, Parents; Sherri Parrott, Step-Father Sam Parrott, father Jerry Sowell, and step-mother Clara Gates. In addition, his sister Chelsey Gutherie and husband Travis Guthrie, step- brother Jake Wollman, and step-sister Jessica Parrott, his two nieces, Mykah Skye, and Marlee Rayne and one nephew, Bishop Ryan. He is also survived by his grandmother Peggy Alicardi. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Duke Alicardi, and Olan and Dell Sowell, also one step-brother Shane Wollman. Kacey was loved by many and we are already missing him. He loved to make ridiculous jokes and stories. He was always a sharp dresser and each hair on that lovely head had to be in place. Of course, there was fishing and four wheeling then he would put on his cap and still look GQ ready. Kacey never married, but the love of his life, besides his family, was his two dogs; Roxie and Tootsie. Anywhere Kacey went, if it were allowed, his girls went with him. My son was a talented person. Seriously, anything he attempted was perfection. He grew to love the guitar and self-taught himself and mastered the instrument. He had the most beautiful heart! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him!!!

Ganado--Funeral services for Ms. Chester Spencer, 80, former long time Ganado resident, will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Phillip Riley will officiate. Burial will be in the Ganado City Cemetery under direction of the Psencik Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Roy Selby, Anton Sablatura, Joe Hafernick, Roy Davis, Willard Hultquist, Mitch Boepple. Mrs. Spencer was the widow of a prominent Ganado farmer and rancher, was born Dec. 10, 1895 at Ganado and married the late Chester F. Spencer on Feb. 3, 1923. He died in October of 1970. She had lived in Beaumont the past few years, and died there Wednesday. Surviving is a sister, Ethel Lancaster of Dallas.

Ganado—Chester F. Spencer, 72, prominent farmer and rancher, and long time resident of Ganado, died Tuesday in Santa Rosa, N. M. He was born May 16, 1898, in Manchester, Ill. Mr. Spencer was a member of the chapter and Council of Ganado Masonic Lodge No 1055; First United Methodist Church of Ganado; St. John’s Commandery No. 101, Knights of Templar of Victoria; Scottish Rite Body of Galveston, and Shrine Arabia Temple of Houston. He was a past director of the Jackson County Mauritz Memorial Hospital, past member of the Mid-Coast Water Development Association, and the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Ganado, with the Rev. Dempsey Salter officiating. Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery with Masonic rites to be conducted at the graveside by Masonic Lodge No. 1055. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Spencer, of Ganado; two brothers, H. K. Spencer of Ganado and Ross Spencer of Lockhart; and one sister, Mrs. Helen Wallace of La Mesa, Calif.

Ganado—Harley Kenneth Spencer, 58, of Ganado died Monday in a local hospital. A native and life-long resident of Ganado, Mr. Spencer was born Oct. 5, 1914, son of the late Isaiah and Viola Spencer. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired Texaco employee. Private funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a. m. from Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Becker of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery. In lieu of the usual remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the cancer fund. Survivors include the widow, Lucille of Ganado; a daughter, Mrs. Sheila Supak of Houston; three sons, Harley Jr., Rodney and Stanley, all of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Helen Wallace of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and a brother, Ross Spencer of Lockhart.

Anthony Staff, 62, of Ganado passed away with his family by his side, on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ganado, Texas on Jan. 18, 1958, to the late Daniel and Betty Joyce Kollaja Staff. Gary was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and amazing friend. Gary lived his whole life in Ganado, Texas. He attended Assumption Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Ganado ISD in 1976. He attended WCJC and graduated in 1978 with an associates degree. After 26 years of service, he retired in March 2019 from Formosa Hydrocarbons. Gary is survived by his wife, Laurie Witzel Staff of Ganado, son, Dustin (Taylar) Staff of San Antonio, daughter, Ashley (Shelby) Reed of Bryan, sister, Carole (Joe) Stolle of Wharton, brothers, Dale (Betty Jo) Staff of Ganado and Darrell (Jo Beth) Staff of Port O’Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least his granddogs Abby and Jade. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father in law, and numerous aunts and uncles. Gary never met a stranger. It was always said Gary could have a conversation with a tree and the tree would answer him back. He loved fishing, gambling, cooking and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 5 at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 108 6th Street Ganado, Texas from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will immediately follow at 2 p.m. followed by burial at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Andel, Clint Bacak, Clark Charbula, Pat Petrash, Joe Stolle and Greg Witzel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Supak and Formosa Hydrocarbons co-workers. Annie Stafford, 88, of Edna and formerly of Boling, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in Edna, Texas. Annie was born on August 9, 1931, in Artesia, New Mexico, to the late Charles Phillip Riley, Sr. and Ruby Hattie Johnston Riley. Annie was raised in the San Antonio area and graduated from Lytle High School. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and her master’s degree from the University of Houston-Victoria. Annie married James W. Stafford on August 21, 1952 in Mississippi, and loved being a “Coaches Wife”. Annie taught 4th and 5th grade at Newgulf Elementary for 26 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed exercising and running, watching Boling High School sports and was in a bowling league in the 1960s. Annie was a “people person” learning things about everybody she met. She enjoyed being active in many clubs and organizations including, the Wharton Garden Club, Boling Lions Club, Matagorda Wharton County Child Protective Services board, the Wharton and Edna Retired Teachers Assoc., the Alexander Love Daughters of the Revolution, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Lambda, the Southern Dames and the Eleanor Breckenridge Literary Society, just to name a few. In what little spare time she had, she loved her garden and square dancing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James W. Stafford, brothers Charles Phillip Riley Jr., William Johnston Riley, and sister Lyla Dawn Cornwell. Annie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Melton and husband, John of Edna, sister, Chrysta Pearl Moore of Pleasanton, brothers, Robert J. Riley and wife, Dana of Wharton, and Morgan C. Riley and wife, Barbara of San Angelo, and her precious grandchildren, Lea Melton and Doug Melton, along with many friends. Family graveside services were held on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 10 am at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with Rev. Debbie Cenko officiating. Edna--Eldridge Stafford, age 9, of Richmond, Texas, died Thursday in a Richmond hospital due to an illness. He was born Oct. 13, 1978, in Ganado, son of Edward Stafford of Edna and the late Ruth Stafford. Funeral services will be at 11 a. m. Monday at Scruggs United Methodist Church in Edna. The Rev. Barbara Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery in Ganado. Cook-Butler Funeral Home will be charge of arrangements. In addition to his father, he is survived by a grandmother, Carrie Stafford of Edna, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elder D. Callies of Ganado; two brothers, Edward Stafford Jr. and Anthony Stafford of Edna. Pallbearers will be Don and Harvey Stafford, Calvin, Alvin and Eldridge Callies and Robert Ceasar. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Sayles, Dennis Wayne Powell, Darwin J. and DeWayne L. Powell. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother.

Ganado--Ruth Ester Stafford, 29, of Ganado, died Sunday afternoon at her home. Death was from natural causes. She was born Sept. 18, 1954 in Ganado. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Edna with Bishop Charles E. Baker, pastor of Faith Temple of Bay City officiating. Burial will be in Ganado Community Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home of Edna. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elder Lee Callis of Ganado; a son, Eldridge Stafford of Richmond; a sister, Alice Callis of Ganado; six brothers, Eldridge Callis, Willie Callis, Raymond Callis, Calvin Callis and Alvin Callis, all of Ganado, and Benjamin Callis of Edna; and a grandmother, Mrs. Olean Boston of Ganado. Lon Franklin Stanley, 82, passed from this earth March 10, 2020, at home, in Austin , Texas after a brief battle with Pancreatic cancer . He was born in Raymondville, Texas, on July 3, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Viola Stanley of Raymondville, Texas, and his brother Roy Lee Stanley of Lubbock Texas. Lon is survived by a sister, Mabel Stanley Jarrett, of Lubbock. Lon is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Darlene Davis of Austin, previously of Vanderbilt. He is also survived by his son Joel Ray and wife Holly Stanley of Livermore, Calif., and his daughter Julie Deanne Stanley and wife Donna Teague of Austin. Surviving Portland, Oregon, Maxwell Harding Stanley of Austin, and Ocean Elizabeth Stanley of Livermore, Calif. Lon entered the U.S. Air Force in 1955 after graduating from Raymondville HS. He served in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Kassel Germany. He then enrolled at Abilene Christian College in 1959. After meeting his wife in 1961, they continued their education at ACC and graduated in 1965. Lon was a Christian man who always put the other person first. He was a member of Pt. Comfort Church of Christ and Bloomington Church of Christ before returning to Vanderbilt Church of Christ. Lon was an active member of the community and the family was active as Cobra supporters for the entire 50 years they lived in Vanderbilt. Lon was a member of the Vanderbilt Volunteer Fire Dept. and worked with the Cobra Football program on the Chain Gang for more than 20 years. He was an avid gardener until the past few years when his health began to decline. A neighbor once told a friend, why should I have a garden? Mr. Stanley gives me more than I can use! A memorial service will be held at a future date at the Vanderbilt Church of Christ, depending on the limited travel and gatherings imposed by the government at this time. Ganado—Albert N. Strauss, 77, died Sunday at 2 p. m. at a Ganado hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1892, in Edna, Mr. Strauss was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and long-time Ganado resident. He was a veteran of World War I, and a charter member of American Legion Hillyard-Yoas Post No. 346. He was a retired rancher. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p. m. from United First Methodist Church with the Rev. Dempsey Salter officiating. Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell, T. N. and Tommie Strauss, Dick Skrla, Dan Janaca and Bill Jaap. Albert "Sonny" Joe Supak, Jr. born on Sunday, September 20, 1940 to Albert Joe Supak, Sr. and Millie Rozner Supak in Ganado, Texas, was called home on Monday, November 2, 2020. Sonny will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Genevieve, children, Aaron (Sandra) Supak, Albert J. Supak, III, Carol Supak and Emille (Randy) Ressman, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He has been preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annie Mae Bures, son-in-law, Bruce Sulak, Mother and Father-In-Law, and several nieces and nephews. Sonny worked diligently at El Campo Aluminum and Central Freight Lines prior to his retirement. The enjoyment of being a farmer and ranching his land left him with a great big smile on his face at sunset. Being competitive at the domino and card tables was his passion. There are also many stories to be remembered of him fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with family. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating, followed by interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Ganado--Funeral services for Albert W. Swenson, 83, of Ganado, a retired banker, will be held at 2 p. m. Monday from the St. James Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. Dick Becker officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p. m. until services. Burial will be in the Ganado City Cemetery under direction of Psencik Funeral Home. Mr. Swenson was born June 18, 1887 in Hutto, Tex., and had lived in Ganado since 1941. He was a graduate of Bethany College in Kansas and a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Carl and Pel Swenson, both of Ganado; a daughter, Maurine Swenson of Houston, and five grandchildren.
