Edna—Carrie Ramey, 91, of Edna, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 1994. She was born Aug. 15, 1902, in Edna to the late Samuel and Rosie Lee Smith Martin. The homemaker was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Survivors: daughters, Meager Lee Parlor of Victoria and Lillie Mae Bonner of Corpus Christi; son, Vernon Ramey of Houston; sisters, Stella Mae Jones, Julia Franklin, Nora Edwards and Danna Bradley, all of Edna; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Edna—Roy Lee Ramery, 59, of Edna died in a Houston hospital Sunday following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Roberts, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Sayles Cemetery under direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home. Mr. Ramey was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Jackson County to Nelion and Carrie Ramey of Edna and was preceded in death by his father. He was a self-employed truck driver, member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran who served in Korea. Survivors include his wife, Minnie O. Ramey of Edna; two daughters, Darlene Jefferson of La Marque and Esther Alice Polk of Victoria; a stepson, Frankie Carl Robinson of Palestine; two sisters, Meager Parlor of Edna and Lillie Bonner of Corpus Christi; a brother, Vernon Ramey of Houston, a grandmother, Rosie Martin of Edna; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edna—Funeral services were held Tuesday for Terrel Shaneal Ramey, four-day-old infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond O. Ramey of Edna. The services were held in the Cook-Butler Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. T. L. Griffin officiating. Burial was in the Sayles Cemetery near Edna. Also surviving are the grandparents, Mrs. Albertina Ramey and Mrs. Adeline Green, both of Edna; and the Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Hines of LaSalle.

EDNA - Gino Ramirez, of Edna, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the age of 57. He was born in El Nogalito San Luis Poto, Mexico, on January 11, 1956, to the late Julio and Paz Lopez Ramirez. He worked at SouthBrook Manor as head maintenance for 16 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and will be missed by many. Gino is survived by his wife, Josie Garza Ramirez of 35 years, daughters, Diana Villarreal of Louisiana, and Jessica Barrientes of Edna; sons, Alfred Padron (Tania) of Colorado, Richard Padron Sr. (Laurie) of Victoria, Samuel Padron of Edna, Ruben Padron of Austin and Higinio Ramirez Jr. of Edna; eighteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Gino is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be 9 - 11 am, Monday, September 16, 2013, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am, at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Burial will be follow in Edna Latin American Cemetery. Reverend Juan Flores will be officiating. Ganado—Funeral services for Mrs. Luciel Randle, 70, of Ganado will be held at 2 p. m. Monday from the Prosperity Baptist Church of Ganado, with the Rev. L. B. Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Sayles Cemetery near Edna under direction of Cook Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Hall, Sinclair Brown, Leroy and Jodie Randle, Matthew Sodia and Alvin Stovall. Sedahlia Chapter of OES will hold graveside rites. Mrs. Randle was born in Jackson County on Feb. 20, 1902. She died Friday night in a Ganado hospital, after a brief illness. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Naomi Dawson of Bay City, Mrs. Geneva Hall of Ganado and Mrs. Mamir Brown of Edna; four sons, I. G. Randle Jr. of Louise, Ray of Port Lavaca, Jodie and Leroy of Ganado; a sister, Mrs. Christina Williams of Houston; 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Edna—Graveside services for Sandy Rose Ann Rangel, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ignacio Rangel Jr. of Edna, will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday in Edna Latin American Cemetery. The Rev. Edna—Myrtle Omega Reed, 78, of Edna, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 in Victoria. She was born May 10, 1929 in Houston, to the late Henry Allen and Ruth Parson Mitchell. She was a restaurant cook. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hopes of Edna; sons, Robert Allen Reed of Cypress and Viron L. Reed of Edna; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Orenell Eileen Reed, of Edna, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the age of 92. She was born in Fayetteville, Texas on March 6, 1926, to the late Louis Menking and Minna Marburger Menking. Orenell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edna, she was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, a Sunday School Teacher, lead various bible studies and a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-great-Grandmother that will be greatly missed. Orenell is survived by her daughter, Sherri Reed Unger and her husband Charles; grandson, Mike Unger (Kim); great-grandchildren, Taylor Unger (Mark), and Rhiannon Unger; great-great-grandchild, Malleaha Rojas; sister-in-laws, Nita and Dorothy; brother-in-laws, Joe Vernon (Almarie); numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Orenell is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, John Lloyd; sisters, Lillie, Norma, Wilma, and Nola; brother, Melvin; grandson, Todd Unger. Visitation was held on April 12, from 5-7 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, April 13, in the First Baptist Church of Edna. Edna—Robert Reed Jr., 66, of Edna died Saturday in a Victoria hospital following an illness. He was born March 30, 1924 in Edna, son of Berilla Dawson Reed Lane of Edna and the late Robert Reed Sr. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Scruggs United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Evening Sun Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Scruggs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Freddie Dixon, pastor of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the Sayles Cemetery in Edna under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home. Edna, Texas, April 1.--Died, at the residence of Mrs. W. H. LaBauve in Edna, yesterday, Mr. Townsend Ribel, aged 63 years. Mr. Ribel was a bachelor, having lived in Jackson county most of his life, and was highly respected by all his acquaintances. He had suffered with the dreadful disease of consumption for a number of years and had been confined to his bed for several months before his death.

Ruth Lorraine Miller Richards, 78, of Ganado, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018. She was born on July 14, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Silas and Josephine Lillian Kaiser Miller. Ruth lived her life as a Catholic first, a wife second, and a mother third. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Deniese (Gary) Orsak and Angela (Joe) Calicchio; and her sons, David (Maura) Richards, Robert (Rachelle) Richards, and Brad Richards. She is also survived by her sisters; Joann Sullivan and Stella (Rick) Huffman, also her 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Raymond L. "Bud" Richards. There will be a Rosary on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 9:30 a. m. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Ganado, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. with Father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Erasmo E. Rivera of Edna passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born Nov. 28, 1931 in Cuero to the late Pedro and Anita Rivera. Erasmo is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Sanchez Rivera; daughters, Susan A. Jose Rodriguez, 81, of Edna, gained his heavenly wings on Jan. 17, 2018. Joe worked various jobs throughout his lifetime, but retired from the oilfield in the late 1990s. Born in Jackson County, he is the son of the late Emilio and Angeleta Rodriguez. He is preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers. Joe leaves behind three sisters, Eula R. Duron and Maria R. Figuerova of Edna and Felecitas R. Milder of Parson, Tenn. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial and burial of cremains will be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local charity of your choice in remembrance of Joe.

Jewel Simmons Hubbard Rosenquist, 98, of Plainview passed away
on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Jewel as she was known to friends
and family, was born on June 26, 1919, near Huntsville, Texas,
while the family was moving, by horse drawn wagon, to the farm
they had bought outside of Ganado. She lived a long, full life
to the age of 98.

Edna—Vaurice Turner Rue, 58, of Edna, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 in Victoria. She was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Edna. She was a retired waitress. She is survived by her son, Kevin Turner of Edna; daughter, Lizzie Turner of Marlin; four brothers, Maurice Turner of Houston, Andrew and Rodney Turner, and Veotis Ware, all of Edna; five sisters, Jacquelyn, Terrilyn and Janice Turner, Wanda Bryant, and Takeisha Redland, all of Edna; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be noon to 8 p. m. Friday t Cook-Butler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a. m. Saturday at Faith Temple COGIC, with burial at Sayles Cemetery.
