Mrs. Nora Mitchell, 51, wife of R. L. Mitchell, Edna laborer, was electrocuted while taking a bath at the family home at 307 East Ezzell St. Tuesday shortly after 10 p. m. Justice of the Peace Joe Cherry has returned a verdict of death by electrocution following an investigation of the tragedy. Funeral services will be held at the Assembly of God Church Friday at 3:30 p. m. and interment will be made in the Edna Cemetery. The use of a small electric fan near the bathtub is blamed for Mrs. Mitchell’s death. She apparently reached from the tub to turn the fan on or off and the 110 volt electric current ran through her body and grounded in the water and the metal tub. Members of the family, hearing the water running in the bathroom for some time, went to investigate and discovered Mrs. Mitchell lying on her face. The fan had been pulled over on her. It had been on a small pedestal near the tub. She was born May 4, 1900, at Leonard, moving to Edna 21 years ago. Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Mollie Freeman Page of Bowie; two sons, Ray Charles Mitchell of the Navy and Roy Melvin Mitchell of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Edith Pennington of Houston and Mrs. Bonnie Lee Gates of Berclair, and a brother and three sisters.
