The passing of James Milam Knopp of Navidad in a Cuero hospital Tuesday was a shock to a great host of friends. Relatives and close friends realized his condition was serious following a gall bladder attack, but few outside of this circle knew there was anything to be disturbed about. The remains were brought home yesterday for the funeral service which was held in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna this morning at 9:00 o’clock. His pastor, Father Dave Buckley, conducted the service. After this service the remains were taken to the family cemetery above Navidad, and laid to rest beside many of his people who had gone before. Jim Knopp was born at the old home above Navidad October 30, 1900, hence was nearly 50 years of age. He never married. He resided in the home with his mother and sisters while engaged in the cattle business. Since early childhood, Jim had been a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He possessed a retiring disposition, but to neighbor and friend he was considered a man of high principles; a man with a big and charitable heart, and a man who made the world better by having lived in it. Jim is survived by his mother, Mrs. Vicente Mize Knopp, two brothers, Messrs. Jesse Knopp of Ganado and Claude Knopp of Galveston; three half brothers Victor Knopp of Ganado, Ernest Knopp of Houston, and Alex Knopp of New York, and the following sisters: Mrs. J. H. Cox of Morales, Misses Lula, Lillian and Cathryn Knopp of Navidad, and Mrs. James W. Milan of East Mauch Chunk, Penn. To these bereaved ones the Herald extends heartfelt sympathy.

a seamstress, making floral arrangements, cooking, baking, oil painting,
glass sculpting, and cake decorating. She is well remembered by her family
and friends for her hot rolls, bar-b-que sauce, Enchilada Casserole, and
Taco Salad. But her favorite thing to do was to crochet for others. She made
numerous quilts, scarves, dish cloths, shawls, and winter caps. Most
recently she made hundreds of winter caps which she donated to cancer
patients, Southbrooke Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, The Woodlands Nursing
and Rehab Center and Adopt-a-Grandparent EC, and she was an excellent
marksman and avid deer hunter. A quiet, loving, and humble lady whose
talents touched many lives.
