Renee E. Kallus

Edna—Renee Elizabeth Kallus, infant daughter of Dennis and Leslie Thompson Kallus of Edna, died Monday, July 2, 2001.

She was born July 2, 2001, in Victoria.

Survivors: parents; brother, Dylan Kallus of Edna; grandparents, Robert Thompson, and Fred and Phyllis Jones, all of Edna, Wayne Revel of Austin, Johnny and Mary Lee Kallus of Edna; great-grandparents, Edna Revel of Austin, Harvey and Mary Shutt, and Mary Kallus, all of Edna and Adrin Owens.

Private graveside services will be 10 a. m. Thursday at Red Bluff Cemetery, the Rev. Aaron Steinbrenner officiating. Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2152.

Robert Keith

Edna—Robert Keith, 78, of Edna, died Friday, June 2, 2006.

He was born June 9, 1927, in Morales, to the late Robert Henry and Maude Fitch Keith. He was a belt tender at Alcoa Aluminum, previously employed at Mobil Oil Corp, and a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post 2497.

Survivors; wife, Georgia Dworaczyk Keith; daughter, Shirley Kloesel of Weimar; son, Karl Keith of Edna; brother, Clarence Eddie “Joe” Keith of Nursery; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: four sisters, and seven brothers.

Visitation will be 8 - 10 a. m. Monday at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be 10 a. m. Monday at the chapel, the Rev. Danny Reeves officiating.

Burial with full military honors, under the auspices of VFW Post 8556, Lolita, will be at Red Bluff Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Bobby Keith, Hugh LeBlanc, David Dwaraczyk, John Robalin, Jacob “Jay” Dworaczyk, Dennis Dworaczyk.

Hazel Kelly

Lolita—Hazel Bernice Kelly, 53, of Lolita died Thursday in a Victoria hospital following a short illness.

She was born Feb. 8, 1935 in Friendship. A personnel maintenance employee for Alcoa, she was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Friendship.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Lolita with the Rev. Roy Meadows officiating.

Burial will follow in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of Slavik Funeral Home of Edna.

Pallbearers will be Jack Huey, Shawn Malone, Clarence Joiner, Dennis Norris, Carl Herreth and Wayne DeBord.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roy, Ray, Eddie, Freddie and Dean Thomas, Phillip, Walter, Rick, Buzzy and Kenneth Hafer, and Marshall and James Peterson.

Surviving are four daughters, Beverly Carter, Nora Hamilton and Becky Maresh, all of Lolita, and Pam Bidlack of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Brad Kelly of Victoria; two sisters, Bertha Hoatek of Weimar and Helen Seymour of Jacksonville; four brothers, Cliff Hafer of New Summerfield, George Hafer of Ponchatoula, La., Howard Hafer of Henderson and Frank Hafer of Edna; and five grandchildren.

Grady “Freddie” Kelton Sr.

Edna—Grady Frederick Kelton Sr., 67, of Lolita, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1993.

He was born April 5, 1926, in Edna to the late Robert Grady and Christine Mae Gerni Kelton. The retired truck driver was a member of the Lolita Fire Department.

Survivors: wife, Marjorie Kelton; daughters, Martha Kelton of Corpus Christi, Margaret Soucy of Bryan and Betty Wood of Pierce City, Mo.; sons, Grady Frederick Kelton Jr. of Bay City and Robert Johnson of Victoria; sister, Rebecca Matusek of Edna; and six grandchildren.

Visitation: begins at 10 a. m. today, Slavik Funeral Home, the Rev. Gene Rice officiating.

Burial: Red Bluff Cemetery, near Lolita, Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 782-2152.

Marjorie Kelton

Corpus Christi--Marjorie Kelton, 89, formerly of Lolita, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016. She was born on Saturday, September 10, 1927 in Hallettsville, TX to Victor and Freida Klitsch Marek, she was one of six children. Marjorie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters; Margaret Soucy, and Betty (Bill) Wood, her sons; Robert (Kelly) Johnson, and Grady (Debby) Kelton, Jr., her seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, and her sister Rose Marie Shelton. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three of her sisters, and one brother.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 5:pm to 7:pm at Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andrew Schroer officiating. Interment will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita, TX.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.

Helen Inez Kerley

Edna—Helen Inez Kerley, 90, of Edna, passed away Monday, May 19, 2018. She was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Houston, to the late Julius Smith and Henrietta Townsend Smith.

She was a homemaker, election judge for Precinct 1, Jackson County Hospital board director, 4-H Club sponsor, Sunday school teacher and member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Ladies Guild, and Victoria Quilt Guild. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Bert” Kerley and wife Louise of Edna; brother, Wilbur Smith; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nolan A. Kerley; and brother, Elmo Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p. m. Wednesday at Slavik Funeral Chapel.

Services will be at 10 a. m Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Rev. Andrew Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Nolan A. Kerley

Edna—Nolan A. Kerley, 82, of Edna, died Sunday, May 16, 1999.

He was born April 21, 1917, in Quanah, to the late Tom and Izora Kerley. He was a retired process operator for Mobile Oil Co., served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors: wife, Helen Kerley; son, Robert Kerley of Edna; sisters, Lula Murphey of Quanah and Imogene Kerley of Houston; and two grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: sisters, Fay Jernigan and Beth Napp; and brothers, E. J. Hood, Robert Kerley, King Kerley and David Kerley.

Services will be 2 p. m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Rev. Aaron Steinbrenner officiating.

Dorothy K. Kinworthy

Edna—Dorothy Kramer Kinworthy, 84, of Edna and formerly of Woodstock, Va., died Thursday, June 3, 2004.

She was born Dec. 4, 1919 in Nova Scotia, Canada, to the late Oscar Claude and Mabel Morrison Kramer. She was a manager for C & P Telephone Company and attended Baptist Temple Church. Survivors: daughter, Diane H. Browning of Edna; sister, Margaret E. Dungan of Mobile, Ala.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: brother, Gus Kramer.

Services will be 2 p. m. Sunday at Slavik Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Mitchell Chase officiating.

Avis L. Klaus

Edna—Avis Lavelle “Babe” Klaus, 88, of Edna, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003.

She was born May 10, 1915, in Ecru, Miss., to the late Thomas and Moretta Robbins Browning. She was a retired clerk for Kenwin. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors: sons, Pal Klaus of Alexandria, Va., and Ira Joe Klaus of Houston; sister, Blanche McMillan of Victoria; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: husband, Grover Thomas Klaus; sisters, Bea McFeron and Vera Everadge; and brothers, Clyde Browning, Marvin Browning and Lowell Browning.

Visitation will be 7 – 8 p. m. tonight at Slavik Funeral Home chapel.

Carmenetta Klaus

Edna--Carmenetta Klaus, 76, of Edna died Saturday at a Victoria hospital.

Mrs. Kaus was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Red Bluff, daughter of the late David Lee Meador and Nancy Elizabeth Jarred Meador.

She worked for many years as an operator at the La Ward Telephone Exchange until her retirement in 1977.

Mrs. Klaus was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lolita, Lolita Garden Club and the Lolita Home Demonstration Club.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a. m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Lolita. The Rev. Gene Rice will officiate.

Burial will be in the Red Bluff Cemetery near Lolita. Slavik Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

She was survived by two daughters, Jeanette Yearwood of Edna and Virginia Meyer of Orange Grove; a sister, Renie Lee Dennard of Edna; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Herbert Klaus, who died March 7, 1988, and her brother, David Lee Meador who died in 1942.

Charlie H. Klaus

Edna—Charlie “Chili” Henry Klaus, 91, of Edna, died Saturday, March 20, 2004.

He was born Aug. 5, 1912, to the late Julius and Freida Schilzkus Klaus. He was a retired oil field derrick man, a school bus driver for Industrial ISD and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lolita.

Survivors: daughter, Karen Freeman of Lolita; son, Dwayne Klaus of Plano; sister, Ruth Carnes of San Marcos; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: wife Arlene Woodruff Klaus; sister, Esther Rickaway; brothers, J. W. Klaus, Grover Klaus, and Edward Klaus; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 6 – 8 p. m. Tuesday at Slavik Funeral Chapels.

Services will be 11 a. m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Lolita, the Rev. Mitch Thrower officiating.

Burial will be at Red Bluff Cemetery.

Edward Klaus

Edna—Edward H. Klaus, 80, of La Ward, died Monday in a Victoria hospital following a long illness.

A native of Burton, he was born July 5, 1907, to the late Julius and Frieda Schlilzkuz Klaus. Mr. Klaus was a retired employee of Alcoa, and retired again in 1976 from his job as a precinct 4 county worker.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Lolita with the Rev. Roy Meadows, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow the services in Red Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife, Carmenta Meador Klaus of La Ward; two daughters, Jeanette Yearwood of Edna, Virginia Meyer of Orange Grove; two sisters, Esther Rickaway of Gadsden, Ala., and Ruth Carnes of Lolita; three brothers, J. W. Klaus of Edna, Grover T. and Charlie H. Klaus of Lolita; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Frieda Klaus

Lolita—Mrs. Frieda Klaus, 88, died at 2:30 p. m. Monday in a Ganado hospital.

Mrs. Klaus was born July 17, 1881 in Germany, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lolita.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Quick, pastor, officiating, assisted by Raymond Drews. Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita under the direction of Psencik Funeral Home.

Survivors include four sons, Grover and Charlie Klaus, both of Lolita, J. W. of Edna, and Edward Klaus of La ward; two daughters, Mrs. Ester Rickaway of Blessing, and Mrs. Ruth Carnes of Lolita; a sister, Mrs. Emma Lindsey of Waco; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Grover Klaus

Edna—Grover Thomas Klaus, 80, of Edna, formerly of Lolita, died Monday in a Victoria hospital after a short illness.

Services will be 10 a. m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Lolita, with the Rev. Gene Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Red Bluff Cemetery under the direction of the Slavik Funeral Home in Edna.

Mr. Klaus was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Burton to Julius W. and Frieda Schlitzkus Klaus.

He was a former member of the Lolita Lions Club and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lolita. He married Avid “Babe” Lavelle Browning on Sept. 20, 1936, in Lolita.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Pat Klaus of Alexandria, Va., and Ira Joe Klaus of Houston; two sisters, Ester Reckaway of Gadsden, Ala., and Ruth Carnes of Lolita; two brothers, J. W. Klaus of Edna and Charlie Klaus of Lolita; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be J. D. Nowlin, J. M. Browning, Bryant Thedford, Larkin Thedford, Buford Carnes and B. J. McMillan.

Mr. Klaus was a case worker for the Jackson County Welfare Department for 17 years and a former guard at Alcoa.

Julius Klaus

Edna—Julius Klaus, 91, of Edna died Saturday, June 27, 1992, in Edna following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 30, 1900, in Burton to the late Julius and Frieda Sohlitzkus Klaus and married Luda Coker of Edna on June 30, 1965. He was a retired farmer, was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Edna and was a past deacon at the first Baptist Church of Lolita.

Survivors: wife; daughter, Lois McGowan of Atlanta, Texas; sons, Ed Coker of Lolita and Edgar Coker of Point Comfort; sisters, Ruth Carnes of Lolita and Ester Rickaway of Gasden, Ala.; brother, Charlie Klaus of Lolita; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by son, Edwin Coker; and brothers, Ed Klaus and Grover Klaus.

Services 2 p. m. Sunday at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Joe Webb officiating.

Burial in Red Bluff Cemetery, Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 782-2152.

Alexander H. Knopp

Edna—Alexander Hamilton Knopp, 76, former Jackson County resident for 21 years, died Thursday in a Hallettsville hospital after an illness of four years.

A former interior decorator, Mr. Knopp was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stanley Petru officiating. Burial will be in Knopp Cemetery under direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

Surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. James Knopp, of Edna; one brother, Claude, of Galveston;  and four sisters, Lula, Lillian and Cathryn Knopp, all of Edna, and Mrs. James W. Milam of Jim Thorpe, Pa.

Edward Knopp

Edward Knopp of Edna passed away Friday, April 1, 2011, at the age of 79. He was born in Victoria on Oct. 23, 1931, to the late Jesse and Ruth Cato Knopp.

He is survived by his wife, Maurine Starnes Knopp of Edna; daughters, Leslie Hurley of Victoria, Lisa Coats of Houston, and Lana Kesterson of Corpus Christi; sister, Wanda Petrash of Ganado; and grandchildren, Thomas Elder, Mandy Knopp, Christian Coats, Courtney Kesterson, and Steven Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jennie Lee Clifton Knopp; sisters, Clara Mae Knopp and Jessie Lee Broussard; and granddaughter, Jennifer Knopp.

Visitation was Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 4-6 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Burial followed in Knopp Cemetery. Brother Michael Hurley will be officiated the services.

Pallbearers were Steve Hurley, Thomas Elder, Doug Kesterson, Steven Harrison, Thomas Curley, and Clint Bennetsen.

Arrangements were under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, 361-782-2221.

Jesse Knopp, 71, Native of County, Is Buried Monday

Ganado—Funeral services were held Monday in Ganado for Jesse L. Knopp, 71, native of Jackson County. Mass was held Monday morning at the Ganado Catholic Church, and rosary was recited at 7:30 p. m. Sunday at the Psencik Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Knopp Cemetery at Navidad.

Mr. Knopp, a retired rice farmer, was born at Navidad in this county on Sept. 27, 1892. He passed away Friday at his home in Ganado.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Vicena Knopp of Navidad; three daughters, Clara Mae Knopp of Ganado, Mrs. Wanda Petrash of Ganado and Mrs. Jessie Lee Broussard of Shreveport, La.; one son, Edward Knopp of Edna; and by seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Lillian Knopp

Edna—Lilliam M. Knopp, 82, a former school teacher and retired Jackson County school superintendent, died in a local rest home Friday.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley Petru officiating.

Rosary will be held Saturday at 8:15 p. m. by the Catholic Daughters at Slavik Funeral Home. A second rosary will be held at 8 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home by the Rev. Vaclav Dily of Inez.

Burial will be in the Knopp Family Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Miss Knopp was born April 26, 1896 in Navidad Community of Jackson County. She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters Court of St. Theresa.

Survivors include two sisters, Katheryn Knopp of Edna and Iris Milan of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; and one brother, Claude C. Knopp of Springfield, Mo.

Pallbearers will be Alton Knopp, Dick Knopp, Ronnie Carroll, Billy Guy Carroll, Johnny Carroll and Jody Petiarch.

Olia Knopp

Edna—Olia Cathryn Knopp, 89, of Edna died Wednesday in a local hospital.

She was born Sept. 19, 1898, in Navidad, daughter of the late James and Vicena Miza Knopp. She was a retired school teacher.

Surviving is a sister, Iris Faye Milan of Jim Thorpe, Pa.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p. m. Thursday at Slavik Funeral Home chapel in Edna.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Clement Barron officiating.

Burial will follow in the Knopp Family Cemetery in Navidad.

Pallbearers will be Alton, Dick, Paul and Charles Knopp, Jody Petrash and John Broussard.

Otto Knuppel

Ganado--Funeral services for Otto Knupple, 85, of Ganado will be held at 10 a. m. Monday from St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donald Boyd officiating.

Burial will be in the Ganado City Cemetery under direction of the Psencik Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Knupple, a retired farmer, was born June 3, 1890, at Brenham. He died Saturday in a Ganado hospital. He had lived in Jackson County since 1919.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Knupple of Ganado; two daughters, Adell Schomburg of Ganado and Edna Hooper of Houston; two sons, Felix of Ganado and Lonnie of Edna; three sisters, Emma Sommerfield of Clifton, Tillie Schafer of Brenham and Freda Sommerfield of Houston; four brothers, Charlie and Eddie of Crawford, Johnny of Brenham and Fritz of Ganado; and 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Joyce Opal Koch

La Ward—Joyce Opal Koch, 68, of La Ward died Friday, April 26, 1996.

She was born May 19, 1927, in Beaumont to the late Gerald Howard and Mittie May Cook Courts. The homemaker was a municipal court judge in La Ward. She was a member of La Ward Volunteer Fire Department, VFW Auxiliary and First Baptist Church.

Survivors: daughter, Kathleen Chaney of La Ward; son, William Richard Koch of La Ward; stepsister, Jean Dittman of Baytown; brothers, Howard Courts of Nederland and Raymond Courts of Beaumont; step-brother, Harris Puentes of Silsbee; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: husband, Herbert William Koch and sister, Mattie Ward.

Edna Bank, Civic Leader Arnold Fred Koop Dies

Edna—Arnold Fred Koop, 86, of Edna died Wednesday in a Victoria hospital following a short illness. He was 86.

Koop was born on Dec. 30, 1905, in Seymour, Ind., son of the late Dietrich and Elizabeth Spree Koop. He moved here with his family in 1907 and settled at Koop Settlement.

He married Anita Wiede Koop of Edna on April 17, 1933.

He served as director of the Jackson Electric Cooperative for 28 years.

He was a founder of First National Bank of Edna (now known as Prosperity Bank) and served as president of the Federal Land Bank here.

He helped organize the Marshall G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation in the 1950s and served many years as chairman and president of the board of directors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Anita Louise Koop Cox of Port Alto; and a son, Dick W. Koop of Edna; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p. m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Edna, the Rev. Lewis Wunderlich, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery near Lolita under the direction of Slavik Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Koop, Lesley Koop, Bobby Koop, Larry Koop, David Sappington and Jon Allen Sappington.

Gloria Jean Koop

Gloria Jean Koop, 73, was born July 21, 1945 in Dodge City, Kansas to Ira and Margaret Sklar. She passed with all of her beloved family present on Friday, February 1, 2019.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Lesley Thomas Koop; mother, Margaret Sklar; brothers, Darrel Sklar and wife Mary, Ira Sklar Jr (IC) and wife Debbie; children, Leah Hicks and husband Clinton, Ronda Rusk and husband Michael, Michele Orsak and husband Keith, and Lance Koop and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Cole Hicks and wife Kassie, Kara Stevens and husband Skylar, Heath Gresham, Reese Rusk, Reed Rusk, Ross Orsak, Whitney Taylor and husband Kody, Haley Orsak, Lane Koop, and Paxton Koop; great-grandchildren, Kassidy Hicks, Campton Hicks, Keegan Hicks, Callaway Hicks, McAlister Hicks, Koop Hicks, Owen Stevens, and Grayson Taylor; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Ira Sklar.

Gloria graduated in 1963, from Edna High School. She was married in September 1963, to Lesley Koop and they have been married for 55 years. Early on, she worked as a seamstress before working with Mac Lee DDS for several years, then the majority of her career as a bookkeeper for JG Stone Oil Company.

Gloria will be remembered for her creative and artistic style as well as a caring spirit and commitment to family and friends. She was an exceptional seamstress. She made baby doll and Barbie doll dresses when her girls were young. As her girls aged, she sewed cheer and drill team outfits, and prom and bridesmaid dresses. She even made the altar runners for St. Paul Lutheran Church that were used for years.

Gloria also loved to decorate. Her house was always decorated for every season and especially her favorite holiday – Easter. She also loved to garden. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved music and loved to dance. Gloria loved to shop but she was a bargain hunter.

Gloria’s greatest joy was watching her kids become active and loving adults and becoming a grandma. She loved attending all their sports and activities, the grandkids’ parties, and especially spoiling the grandchildren with candy, ice cream, and sodas.

The family would like to thank everyone who has cared for Gloria over the past several years especially Southbrooke Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edna, Texas and Crown Hospice of Victoria. Their love and support to her and the family was sincerely treasured.

Edna—John Koop Sr., 81, of Edna, died Monday, June 10, 2002.

He was born June 18, 1920, in Edna, to the late Frank and Sybil Abel Koop. He was a farmer and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edna. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors: sons, John Koop Jr., of Edna and Michael Koop of Missouri; sisters, Delite Hoffman of Bryan, Enid Littlefield and Lillian Wiede, both of Edna and Elaine Turner of Corpus Christi; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Milvie Gregory Koop

Edna—Milvie Gregory Koop, 88, of Edna, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 of natural causes. She was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Jackson County, to the late Jessie Gregory and Lena Belchner Gregory. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her sons, John Koop and wife Linda of Port Alto and Mike Koop of Edna; grandsons, Curtis and wife Sarita of Sugar Land and their sons, Jack, Jeff and Jake, and Doyle Koop and wife Lori of Wiley and their children, Katherine, Clayton, Kristin, Caroline, Collette and Kendall; and his sister, Dell Gregory Calloway of Edna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Mildred Burnette and Dolly White.

Rose Marie Koop

Beaumont - Rose Marie Koop, 87, of Beaumont, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Christus Hospital - St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 25, 1928, in Maxwell, Texas, to Hettie Louise Hoffman Wiede and William Henry Wiede. Rose worked as a bank teller for many years in Edna, Texas.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Bill, in 1946, in Koop Settlement, Edna. They resided in Edna until their retirement to Beaumont, in 1999.

Rose's passion in life was serving her Lord through music, playing the organ in her church from age 10 until this past Sunday's church service at Collier Park Assisted Living, in Beaumont.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel William Koop and his wife Carolyn, of Inez; Mitchell Marvin Koop and his wife Susie, of Beaumont; daughter, Kathleen (Koop) Cash and her husband Claude, of Bryan; sisters-in-law,, Emily (Koop) Chase and Lillian (Koop) Wiede, of Edna; grandchildren, Lisa (Koop) Omecinski and her husband Jimmy, of Inez; Gina Bludau and her husband Chris, of Victoria; Daniel William Koop, Jr., of Victoria; Ashley (Koop) Fillips and her husband Drew, of Beaumont; Brian Krukiel and his wife Allison, of Keller; Haley Koop, of Austin; Blake Krukiel, of Beaumont; Keylee (Koop) Sudduth and her husband Micah, of Los Angeles, California; and Heath Koop, of Austin; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, William Koop; her parents; sister, Anita Wiede Koop; and brothers, Marvin H. Wiede and Alfred Wiede.

William D. Koop

Beaumont—William D. Koop, 74, of Beaumont and formerly of Edna, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000.

He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Edna, to the late William August and Josephine Blaise Koop. He was a retired meter man at Formosa and Alcoa and a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Beaumont and was formerly a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Edna.

Survivors: wife, Rose Marie Wiede Koop; daughter, Kathleen Koop Cash of Houston; sons, Daniel “Danny” Koop of Inez and Mitchell Koop of Beaumont; sisters, Emily Chase and Betty Unger, both of Edna; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents; sister, Evelyn Elsick; brother, Robert Koop.
